This episode is not meant to discourage you if you're starting a label. It's to inform you NOT to make the mistakes literally countless individuals with brands make. In fact, if you let a video discourage you from starting your potential line, then you REALLY shouldn't start a brand. You can do whatever you want in this world. Just be savvy enough to learn more about the thing you want to get into. That's the point.
@THECASUALco

@Andre Bittencourt how does that actually change things? You don't need validation from a video to start what you really want to to. Throughout the entire video, encouragement was given. Learn the business Go beyond just a shirt Be honest with yourself Put you creative work to the test! To your point, this channel The Casual has made a good chunk of off clothing. Something you assumed we didn't, probably from the little snapshot you researched. Yet your intial comment doesn't discourage our team from continuing our journey. Because we love it. We won't let a dissenting comment change that fact. We don't need that kind of validation from someone who doesn't even know our operation. You're entitled to your opinion dude but you must be new in this space because we don't want to discourage people. We want to inform. Take the title out of it and actually LISTEN to what was said. That's all. And be good bruh. It ain't even that serious.

Number 1 I Love your channel. I’ve been listening to you for about a year now. I started with the tech wear video you made a long time ago. When I watched this video it was not discouraging at all. If anything it was encouraging. Your 100% right if a video on KZfaq can stop me from pursuing my god given dreams then I doubt the desire was coming from the right place to begin with. Your channel is a blessing and I love watching you and your channel grow in quality and wisdom. I’m a dance teacher and I understand the need to information students with lessons that go beyond the class room. That what this video aims to do. You have the hard task of keeping it sort. My lesson are an hour and normally one on one with time to break things down. Doing it in 10min or less is a tall order and you did great. If someone doesn’t like it that’s ok. This video acts like a mirror for the viewers to reflect on their motive. Ask them why do you desire starting a clothing brand or any brand for that matter . Mine comes from my love to create stories but like you said if I don’t learn the business then my company will fail. My story go untold and the people who I hire with out work. Leaving them without the means to support there families.that information lead me on a JourneyI’m trying to learn everything I can, as much as I can. so that when I started my company it’s on a foundation that will last long after I’m dead and gone. My dream is create jobs and build story’s with the things I make and the people who enjoy them. Thank you for your video and following your Tracher intuition when making videos your followers might not always want to hear but need to hear. My original comment was To Poetic to get my point across. Thank you from Brooklyn New York. Hoping to visit Japan with my wife and hit up all those stores you talk about your video. I know your channel is about clothing but I’m sure you have some great food spots in Japan. If you are in Brooklyn or New York for an event. Would be awesome to do a meetup. 😊

So many brands that enter a market and focus on a market, and don’t do it out of passion/love, but a vague statement that people think they identify to, but not really. There are so many things I would be interested in, but absolutely cannot find because nobody does it, or they’re obscured/clouded by the mass copy pasta.

11 months too late but I am glad I watched this video. As someone who has aspired to be a fashion designer since childhood there is nothing that irks me more than all these celebrities and other people who just "making a label" out of thin air by buying a bunch of things and slapping their name on it. I spent most of my childhood (to my mothers annoyance) ripping up bed sheets and fabric scraps to see what I can make of it. I spend countless hours or even days in our basement drawing sketches of design, pattern drafting, cutting, and sewing until fashion school taught me the proper techniques to create line sheets, techical packages for manufacturers, market and competion analysis, PR packages and more. Having a good fashion label is not something that just anyone (celebrities included) can do. Something I am learning after all these years. It takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, TALENT, and to have a set of people (customers) who genuinely love and appreciate your work. There are so many designers out there that have never or will never reach fame for their work but have managed to create a successful label that they genuinely love. I think the thing that most people forget is that success doesn't mean fame and fortune for everyone. For me, if you have a roof over your head, food on the table, able to pay the bills comfortably without living paycheck to paycheck while doing what you love, you are successful.

To be honest with you man, this video is encouraging as hell. Because this shows up everything that most people with this dream lack of, the business part. Myself included. You basically just showed the blueprint of what you should study and pursue if your in this because of a creative process, you showed a path for those that really wanna go after their dreams, and honestly, I don't know when I'll start my own fashion brand but I won't let it fail because of bad planning.

I started a brand called PrettyBoyUglyWorld, which randomly blew up because ASAP Ferg randomly followed me. At first it was mad, but slowly the reality sunk in that I need to look at quality, customer expectations etc. The whole project started by accident, but is slowly coming into place. I am looking at making actual clothing now such as cargos, and bags. The story of the brand was pretty much about me being an office worker, and stuck all day in the office whilst looking outside my window and seeing the beautiful weather. This was how I came up with the first logo which pretty much has the nice side of the globe on the top, and the darkness below it.

If it wasn’t hard, it wouldn’t be a pipe dream! Jokes aside, I hope to try creating a clothing line as an extension of my art and artistic vision. I want to try to transfer the same ideas and feelings from 2d works to wearable pieces where cut and understated design are the focus. It is pretty daunting though, especially as anything I create I want to put just as much care into as I would any other work of art.

It really Depends on your motive in some respects. What is your mission and purpose behind your brand if it’s just money then that may be an issue you have to have a real purpose bigger than just making money. There’s no need to worry about competition if this is truly what you are supposed to be doing it will succeed ( what is your definition of success) there’s nothing new under the sun. People have been designing fashions every since the beginning of time ( Adam and Eve sew fig leaves together to cover their naked body..lol) what is different about you and your brand? It’s not about the clothes necessarily or the brand it’s about you, and you are expressed through your brand.

Just wanted to give Reggie a big thanks for this video. I love videos like this, just like pt. 9 for Unscripted. About 9 months ago, I had the idea of starting my own streetwear brand, looked it up on KZfaq, and found The Casual. It literally changed my life. I've watched the whole Unscripted series a few times and I took notes on the videos, made checklists, and followed them every step of the way. Today, the instagram page of my brand infin2 has finally launched. All I want to say to you all is, seriously, do not be discouraged by these videos, but take it with a grain of salt and reflect on them. We may think we know it all already, or that we have dope ass designs that will capture everyone's attention. But the truth is, we're far from that and a lot of time, money, and sweat goes into building a brand. This doesn't mean it's not worth it, but if you can actually build a brand that represents YOU, YOUR BELIEFS, YOUR STYLE, and YOUR LIFE, then at least you can say you gave it your best shot to build something that represents you. Remember what Reggie said, put your OWN experiences, beliefs, and values into YOUR brand. You can look up to your idols but never imitate them to the dot. You are YOU, and YOU are what makes your brand unique. To those who are trying to start their brand, keep going and reflect on your own life to see what's something NEW you can bring into today's streetwear community. We're all special in our own way, don't give up. Thank you for reading my long passage, and please check out @infin.2 on Instagram if you have time. There are always infinite possibilities when we pool in our ideas, collaborate, and strive for more together.

I read the title and was upset, but then once I got into the video I was like FINALLY someone said it. I have spent all day watching videos on how to start a "successful clothing brand" and its all about making a tee shirt! That is not a fashion brand im sorry- literally anyone can do that. I was simply looking for tips on how to get my actual sketches and clothing designs made and barely got any info they all are just talking about screen printing....like sorry but I dont wanna make a T-Shirt just because SUPREME somehow made this logo and slapped it on a sweatshirt to sell for $150 thats not what I want to do. Anyways nice video.

Starting a clothing brand should be looked at as starting a music career for people and that means realizing that there is a 99 percent chance that it will fail in terms of seeing large success from it. Which means most should just realize they are doing it for the love of it.

Hey bro, I'm about to start a fAsHioN BraNd here in the Philippines and I kinda don't know if I should even call it like that right now. But, the thing is I aim to be different with other local brands. We have creative people doing stuff and also people with knowledge about business and marketing. I also avoid to be that local brand who just print stuff on their shirt and sell it 10x the manufacturing price. I aim to spread hidden messages thru our unique designs collections regarding certain issues. We will start by vlogging and telling the hows, whats, whys of our brand and gain audience before releasing our clothes and be consistent with it. Any insights?

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, however, if you ask every single person who purchases from say supreme, or a more generic and affordable brand let's say topshop if they know the background of a the business, i wonder how many people actually do? maybe 25-30% for supreme? and wayyyy less for topshop maybe 1-5% of people that buy from their store. I do agree with a brand having an identity but all i'm saying is that its not the bottom line, the large majority of people buy clothing of the back of an emotional buy rather than a rational. As long as you have some eye catching design's, focussed target audience and a solid business/marketing strategy i would say you have quite a good foundation to build on

I'm an independent designer and the creative director of my brand, Poetitlan. A conscious luxury brand handmade by Mexican Artisans. I have a BFA in design, have worked as a stylist, freelance designer, milliner, and art authenticator before starting my own brand. I absolutely love what I do, but I will say this isn't for everybody. I'm incredibly involved in the design, technical design, sourcing, manufacturing, working with artisans, packaging, selling, distribution, working with showrooms, clients, logistics, budget, etc. It's incredibly difficult and a lot of responsibility but I love every moment of it. The advice given in this video is very accurate. This isn't for everyone, fashion is 5% glamour, the rest is f**king hard work.
