💲 NEED FINANCIAL ADVICE? 💲
1) Google "fee-only financial adviser" or visit www.NAPFA.org (largest association of fee-only financial advisers). NOT an affiliate link
2) The first question to ask any financial adviser is, "Are you a fiduciary to me 100% of the time". Get the answer in writing
3) Please note that some people call themselves "fee-based". This is NOT the same as fee-only. Fee-only advisers have committed to being fiduciary to you 100% of the time.
4) Personally, I would only hire an adviser who is a fiduciary to me 100% of the time. This is not a suggestion on what you should do. Just sharing my personal preference.
⚠️ Azul's "Scammer" Warning ➡ PLEASE READ! ⚠️
Be careful of scammers. In the comments section, I will NEVER ask you to contact me, offer any investment products, recommend a stock broker, or anything similar. Some scam bot commenters 'ask' for investment help, and later, other comment bots reply with "how great X idea/investment/person is" in the replies. These are scam threads. Do not fall for them.
🚨 Azul's VIDEOS ARE NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE (Disclaimer) 🚨
This information is only provided as an informational resource and should not be viewed as investment advice or recommendations. To get professional financial advice from a fee-only financial advisor near you, please visit www.napfa.org.
The decisions on how to invest, when to retire, and other financial planning topics are some of the most important financial decisions you will make in your life. I urge you to seek professional financial advice as you make this decision. Ideally, from a financial adviser, AND a CPA AND an attorney. Having the perspective of all three professions will help you make the right decision for you and your family.
This information is being presented without consideration of the investment objectives, risk tolerance, or financial circumstances of any specific investor and may NOT be suitable for all investors.
This information is NOT intended to, and should NOT, form a primary basis for any investment decision that you may make. Always consult your own legal, tax, and/or investment advisor before making any investment/tax/estate/financial planning considerations or decisions.
Spoiler Alert: There are no "get rich" programs. Rather, just basic blocking & tackling and putting in time and care. Do your homework, choose wisely and (IMHO) work with experienced professionals who are fiduciary to you 100% of the time.

I think the retirement crisis will get even worse. A lot of people can’t save because of low paying jobs, inflation, and insane rental rates. And now that home ownership is out of reach for middle class Americans, they won’t have a house to retire with either.

Rising prices have affected my intention of retiring at 62, working part-time, and building my savings. I'm worried about whether individuals who weathered the 2008 financial crisis found it less challenging than my current situation. The stock market's volatility, coupled with a reduced income, is making me anxious about having enough for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

Well, there are a few out there who know what they are doing. I tried a few in the past years, but I’ve been with Melissa Terri Swayne for the last five years or so, and her returns have been pretty much amazing.

I retired at 58, house paid off, no debt, money in the 401k with company pension, however…. early this year it was discovered I had prostate cancer and had a radical prostatectomy. I eat healthy, excercise etc and it just goes to show that some things can come up and kick ya. I’m on the road to recovery and I urge all the guys who read this to get their annual PSA done. I was lucky, they caught it in time before any spread, some aren’t as lucky.

My husband is on this same road. If you need further treatment consider proton radiation therapy if appropriate. Not an easy road to navigate but it can be years and years long. The forefront of developing treatments and medicines is promising. My husband gets bloodwork every three months to detect the smallest changes. Other than that retirement is going swimmingly.

My wife and I retired in 2016 she was 54, and I was 56. We retired with 2.8 million. We spent loads of money these first 8 years to include a DVC membership. We managed to save money. Now, at ages 63 and 65, we banked another 500k. Azul, our secret, We receive 2 pensions and SS with interest on low risk investments. We make more in retirement than when we worked! Now we wish we'd retired a few years earlier!

The people watching this video are likely to be far healthier than the average Americans and will have far more “go go” years than the average American. In any case your health is something that you have a lot of control over, if you eat and exercise right you can stay healthier for longer than if you are sedentary and eat a lot of junk. I am 79, been retired twenty years and am spending the week in Andermatt, Switzerland cycling some of the mountain passes. I am no natural athlete, short and stout, never won a medal in my life and always the last pick for any team but I do enjoy cycling, skiing and hiking and cooking and that keeps me fit. Retirement lasts twenty years or more and you can do and achieve a great deal in twenty years if you put your mind to it.

Thanks for sharing your story. Congrats on 20 years of go-go retirement time. Enjoy your cycling trip in Switzerland! Next year you’ll be cycling as an 80 year old which is my goal as well. 🚴‍♂️Azul

Luckily, I am 66 and 10 months still in pretty good health. I am retiring from my current job in August. However, I think I have found another full time job that I will like. Less hours and no weekends..

Great video! I have run models on my retirement, even paying for one, and puzzled it out logistically. I have spoken with lots of retired people about what it is like to be retired. The models say 67 percent chance of success. What is holding me back is a good paying job I probably couldn't replace, my wife, and fear of making a major life change

8:38 - We underestimate that we might be in a higher tax bracket. This is very interesting. Azul - Hopefully you will make a video on the common things that push us into a higher tax bracket one of these days. I just don't see it, but I'm sure it happens and I need to be aware of it. I would think....perhaps inheritance would be one thing. Not sure of the rest. Thanks! - 10% -12% -24% -32% 37%

My biggest gripe is most financial advisors are looking for at least a yearly 1% of your investable assets. Why not charge $1500-2000 for a plan/updates per year? If you have a $1M balance, that’s $10K that’s not being compounded. There are NOT a lot of good reasonable (fee only) advisors.
