As someone who’s heard many sounds of eerie sorts, in real life and in content, I must say, the Japanese have a procuring footsteps perfectly done in scary stories. Like one where it’s the sound of a very large drum (I forgot what it’s called) that gets louder and faster as the huge being approaches. Although, in all my experience of creepy sounds, nothing causes quite a reaction like the imminent threat siren. Be it for a hurricane, tsunami, or nuclear power plant disaster, that sound has a power to it heavily due to the fact that unlike most of the other sounds, IT MEANS SOMETHING. AND THAT SOMETHING IS THAT A CATASTROPHE IS INBOUND.

I couldn't sleep last nigth, this video really helped and I fell asleep almost instantly.

I often experienced hypnagogic hallucinations, they're fast, like 2 or 4 seconds. Specifically, I sense the fingers of a hand touching my skin, I also perceive the sound of them slapping me. My family is very respectful so they never invade my room, much less if I'm sleeping, so it's not them. At the beginning, I was scared because I did not know about the phenomenon, but now that I know, I'm not so scared, but I still get chills.

This is my scary noise story. I was really young, I wanna say like 10 or 11 but I am uncertain. I was going to sleep for school and I stayed up extra late. I usually slept with my lights on because I just felt more comfortable. I always watched scary things on the internet which led to many difficult nights of sleep however this wasn't one... yet. It must of been around 2 in the morning, the window directly opposite me when I was sleeping led to pitch black. I was starting to doze off when suddenly I heard the scariest noise ever. I don't even remember how it went but it was like a squeak combined with a scream. Doesn't sound scary but imagine how I felt as a 10 year old trying to sleep late at night, already with scary thoughts in my head then hearing that. I told my mum the next day and she said it was probably just a rabbit but nah, the thing that made that noise must of been the devil himself because that noise was impossibly scary, just impossible to explain. Some kind of high pitched noise that went in a weird tone at the end and it just left me shook the entire night.

So something funny about number one or the incoming attack siren. We are actually in my area have the siren for tornadoes. Of course, our phones get a notification before the siren even starts playing, but I remember one time I didn’t even get a notification and only heard the siren. I immediately went down to the basement with my family again remember, I didn’t get a notification on my phone and there was a tornado nearby. It didn’t come too close to us but it’s always good to have a back up.

About the #1 sound. I was living in a little town, where the sirens make this exact sound. Every 3 months they were testing the sirens for if it's working properly. Scared the shit out of me every time when I was a kid. Later in life I got used to it, still I would never wanna hear this sound again.

We have these active-shooter drills at my job, where we actually pretend to be in a shooting situation. It's pretty intense, with real gunshots/ smells/ shelks (various different 🔫 too) and all. They make sure to let everyone around, like county officials, schools, and the neighbors, know about the drill in advance, just so they're in the loop. We only find out the day it's happening, but not the exact time. It's crazy to see how people react during the drill - some go into fight or flight mode, while others totally freeze up. It's scary to think we're living in a time like this, but it's better to be ready for anything.

I live in Greece near Bulgaria. We have a hotel in a village 3 kms from the borders which have spa and I used to visit it from times to times at nights and have sleep at the hotel. One night it was December I remember I went all alone because my friend couldn't make it and while I had my radio open in the car I caught a very terrifying and unsettling transmission like it was from the 60-80s. It had broken radio signals and a voice transmitting something like a code disrupted by screams. Despite the fact that scared the fuck out of me I continued listen to it until I couldn't take it no more. I turned off the radio and never went back to this exact location and to this village, until two months ago but I had goosebumps and felt strange. This occured in 2018.

I have severe anxiety. However, I can present myself as being completely calm. The Air-Raid siren (nuclear war siren) is a sound that, without fail, sends me into the deepest depths of psychosis imaginable.
