🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:50 📚 Research the law in your state, particularly the "best interest of the child" concept, to understand its specific meaning and how it applies to your case. 03:32 🚫 Avoid diluting your arguments by presenting insignificant issues in court; focus on matters that genuinely impact the child's health, safety, and welfare. 05:49 📜 Learn about objections and exceptions in court proceedings, especially if you are self-represented, by researching your state's family law code. 07:37 🗂 Be organized when going to court, label and carry relevant documents, and have a notepad and pen to take notes on court orders and proceedings. 13:52 👀 If self-represented or assisting an attorney, be an extra set of eyes and ears in court, taking notes and providing valuable observations during hearings or trials. How does any of this matter if you have corrupt judges that are not liable for any misconduct even when u prove it very easily. Corrupt system = nothing good. Stay out of court dont follow this lawyers comment.

I have such a complex case and have been dealing with it for 10 years. I wish I can't find any info on my specific case. I've searched everywhere through my state laws.

How about not treat the incidents as insignificant? Judges couldn’t be bothered. Judges are not equipped to respond to family conflict. They care about law and not the welfare of children.

Do you have to file the evidence that is going to be filed into court if it is going to be addressed? and IF there are things in statement to a response followed with saying that will be presented in court is that misused formatting for disclosing evidence ?

Do you have a video about ad litems? My husband's ex won't follow the ad litem advice. Won't let him see his child even though all party's agreed on days/times.

If a father has been absent from the childrens lives for years even after i attempted to have him be involved 5 years ago just for him to constantly let them down and then i gave up because my kids were the ones hurting but now suddenly after asking to sign over rights so he didnt have to pay support and i said no, he went and filed 50/50 is it likely he will get that?

From what we’re going through, it depends on the state. WV has a new child custody 50/50 law but the dad moved two hours away and filed for full custody, filing with a bunch of lies on his papers. If he hadn’t moved two hours away from the school district, he probably would’ve gotten 50/50. I would just try to prove his unstableness and make lists of events missed. (Holidays, birthdays, school events) and present that in court with you. In your case, he’s probably just worried about child support. Give it time, he’ll give up I’m sure.

He'd most likely get 50/50 due to the fact that he filed first. Also, the fact he filed first gives him the ability to discredit the 5 years he's been "missing." As a father, I'd advise no longer engaging in voice conversation unless you have an audio recorder. And keep EVERY text. If possible, get a new phone where he is the ONLY contact. No extra phone apps, etc. That way, you can use the entire phone for him. And get an EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE solely for him and have multiple folders for different "violations." That way, you'll be able to have and develop solid evidence. And, once this case is done. You can adjust the external hard drive or get another one for the parenting plan. Then, you'll have a folder for each parenting plan order. Then, you'll be able to place screen shots and audio recordings for each parenting plan order. That way, when time comes. You won't have to go searching for the documents. But, the catch is to be able to address issues with him without making direct accusations. And allow him to bury himself. The key is to ensure that you are growing up (maturity), and if he starts trying to argue, just stick to the points for a few texts, then withdraw yourself.

They won't typical disrupt the kids at a level of 0 contact straight to 50/50. That would be damaging to your kids. But, he could eventually work up to 50/50 if he is consistent and does everything the Court wants him to do.

My ex husband has custody of my two daughters. I let my daughters with him because he told me he was the one who was working and had money. And I was a housewife. Im from ecuador. I didn't know anything about law. I let the house without my daughters. I had to leave because he treated me well emotionally. He ignored me most of the times. I moved to another state. I thought i could do anything to get my daughters back because i let the house. Now i want to do something for them 😢

I'm praying for you sister. I've been in your shoes and I actually won my custody case. But it certainly helps to know the law. The first thing you need to do is get stable. Most states in the US will push for joint custody as long as both patterns are stable. They deem a better for the children to have both parents around. If the children are twelve and up now you may be able to let them speak and decide what they would like. This would be helpful if they don't like living with him. But at the very least, you will be able to get joint custody and have them half the time. You really don't even need a lawyer because it is your basic right as a mother to be in your children's lives. So just go to court and give it a try. Good luck❤

@soulcandy3591 Hi. Did you try to get them back. Or do anything about it. I haven't done anything, but I I think I have to talk to a lawyer to see if there is anything I can do

@soulcandy3591 I literally just went to the courthouse this week and filed the paper to get full custody of my children. We had joint custody but it isn't working. I need to be away from him because he is STILL abusive to us. I think I will win my case. Just be sure to document every single thing and always keep it. Cause you may need it in the future.
