Another great video, especially for young people ( OVER 18 of course!!) Do your homework and study the companies you are interested in. Look at their history, price range, dividends, prospects. If you're unsure, stick to blue chips. And most importantly be prepared to hold them long term - 10 years at least. Avoid the lure of fast money and remember that there's no free lunch!!

During the Global Financial Crisis in 2008/2009, STI was down 50% and my portfolio down 53%. I was looking at 300K unrealised lost. I was angry at myself for being such a stupid idiot and I bang the table loud. My wife was shocked. But I preserved and even added some bank and reits stocks as I still had some fund available. When the crisis was iver, my portfolio saw a 100% gain. This episode has enhanced my resiliency and developed my adversity quotion.

@@TheFifthPersonChannel Thanks. Since then, I have grown my portfolio substantially with an average annual returns of about 9% and achieved financial independence. I attribute this to continuous learning and proper mindset.

@@TheFifthPersonChannel Sorry, it wasn't that consistent. For the last 10 years, it was all positive returns every year except one. Highest returns was +ve28%, lowest returns was -ve10%. Average returns was 9%. I am happy as at least I managed to beat inflation...🙂

If the fundamentals in your portfolio is sound, one should buy to average down your weighted average cost, get higher DY and better future capital growth.
