For anyone who has problems not knowing what side your gas cap is on, look at your gauge cluster, and either whatever side the little gas pump icon is on or whatever side the gauge itself is on usually tells you what side your cap is on

No one realizes cars have had arrows pointing to what side the fuel door is on in the gauge cluster for over 20 years now

Even the arrow doesn't help anymore. Pre-COVID I travelled alot and drove rentals and sometimes the arrow points in the direction that the gas cap is on the car, and sometimes it points to where the gas cap is on the car as if the icon on the middle (sometimes a car, sometimes a pump) was the car. So if you see an arrow pointing right on the left side of an car/pump icon, that could mean the gas cap is on the left of the car or the right of the car, both can be valid depending on manufacturer and model.

I live in NJ and we do not pump our own gas here. I had to pump it myself in college and law school when I lived in other states. It's so annoying having to do it yourself! Especially when it is cold or rainy...

Grrr, you 'pay inside and get some snacks and a coffee and go to the bathroom' types are why some cars are sitting at pumps for 15 minutes

I recently found out that many of the new pumps have hoses that will reach all the way to the other side. Totally opened up my options at the pump.

I tend to tank up at 2:00am. (After work), pre pay at the pump, fill till it clicks, drive off. The store doors are locked, so you have to try yell at the gas attendant through the windows if you want him to grab you something, that is if he is even around. More work than it's worth

Remember when you got a gift for filling your gas tank? A glass or similar. I got a complete set of utensils for my first apartment when everyone in my family got a spoon, fork or knife everytime they filled up. Still have them 40 years later.
