Soo… after a year of playing my ef note drums, here’s a two part video series, 5 things I love and 5 things I hate. Here’s part one, 5 things I hate about my ef note drums. I’ve also got previously recorded first impressions, a deeper dive and kit play through in addition to numerous covers with my ef note drums. As always, thanks for stopping by…

Agree with all of the above, Steve. Nice job on this video. I was swayed by the sounds. Just sooooo good without tweaking. Keep those videos coming : )

Great video. I totally get your point about the real drum sizes and that makes transition to an acoustic kit much quicker. I picked the EFnote 5 because I wanted to setup in my 7 foot x 9.5 foot study room next to the laptop and I think having that smaller sized kit is the thing that drew me towards Efnote vs a bop kit with mesh heads and triggers. I have experimented a bit with the kits and have created some custom ones - but there are a few stock kits I still use a lot. Studio F like you said is great. I also really like the Thousands of Audience kit and the Recording Kit as well with Room 3 Ambience applied around 60%. The Neo Classic kit is good too but I changed the snare sound to make it more to my taste. Thanks for the video.

Have had my EFNote 5 for a few weeks now. Got rid of my TD-17 based kit, and am very happy with the decision. The EFNote hats are much better imo than my VH-10 was. Also the cross sticking is better, and the overall feel of the kit is more natural for me. The EFNote may be the new top dog in edrums!

The Ef Note hi hats beat the vh 10 hands down. I hope you enjoy the drums, happy drumming

After watching this and some of your other efnote videos, I decided to take the plunge and pick up the Efnote 7. Playability, pad and cymbal sizes, and natural sound quality was high on my list of qualities.. Efnote clearly prioritized those things and traded off some flexibility in the module settings/customization. I too don't want to make a hobby out of sitting in drum module menus. The hi-hat is easily the MOST critical component behind the drum module in my eyes. Every demo of every other brand shows a hi-hat that struggles to be a hi-hat. Efnote is the first where most demos I watched and listened to displayed natural gradation from open to close. Thanks for making this content. It was super helpful!

thanks so much for stopping by and I hope the drums live up to your expectations... I can honestly say I'm happy with the drums but I also have new found appreciation for my acoustic kit... take care and enjoy the drums

I do love my 2box module and my yamaha pads. But I definitely would love to get an efnote as a dedicated quiet drum recording kit one day.

I’m with you on electronic hihats. I’ve never tried the Efnote ones but I’ve had the VH10, ATV 14s, and the Roland VH14D digital hats and they all feel unnatural to me. I’ve ditched them all. Maybe Efnote has it figured out. Either way killer kit!! Keep the vids coming

Dood, the Roland Vh-14d is truly NEXT LEVEL! I literally had an existential experience while playing the 3 Roland Digital pads. I closed my eyes while playing and felt so connected and the triggering was so accurate I had a brief but profound sensory-auditory hallucination that I was playing an acoustic kit and when I opened my eyes It felt like I went back into the Matrix.

That’s a great commitment man, thanks for stopping by and for what it’s worth, I’m trading in the ef notes for the Roland td50kv2 with the digital pads… again, thanks for stopping by

Great review. I will take this into serious consideration. I have been debating about Roland. This appears to be a big value as compared to Roland.

well... truth be know, I recently traded in all my Ef Note gear and went back to playing Roland, I think beauty and value are in the eye of the beholder... both companies make good products....

@@SteveTheDrummer thanks for the candor in the matter. I would be getting an ekit soley on noise factor. I have and play oftem my DW kits, so I am an acoustic snob of sorts. Never found an e kit that had the feel. These efnote and upper level Rolands look appealing. Trying to keep peace in the house. Family says it does not bother them coming from my basement studio, but I will be increasing drum activity this year, so looking to augment with an ekit for practice purposes versus actual gigs. Recomendations, preferences?

I hear ya, my acoustic kit is a Ludwig Maple classic and I’m quite partial to it. When it comes to electronics… you are asking about feel and noise level. I perceive that the pads (mesh pads) are quieter generally that shells… less resonant. Honestly I think feel is pretty similar on all of them. One thing I have seen but haven’t purchased (yet) is a product by Porter and Davies that makes your throne rumble when you play the drums (butt kicker). I tried one briefly last time I went to Edrumcenter but haven’t purchased it (yet) though I likely will sometime down the road… hope this helps

So these are the best hats other than the Roland VHS-14 digital ones? Cuz those digital pieces, the snare and ride are the reasons why I’m looking at the TD27kv2 instead of the Efnotes now
@SteveTheDrummer

ultimately I went back to Roland as well.... honestly for the most part, I've just gone back to acoustic drums... but yes, in my opinion, these and the Roland digital hats are the best in the edrum market... that being said, other products have been introduced since this video, all of which ai haven't tried the could be better

There is no difference in playability between the atv and the efnote hihat except the powerlight and some little Hardware differences. They Booth Play very similar.
@SteveTheDrummer
@SteveTheDrummer Жыл бұрын
I agree with the playability part but I would respectfully argue that the ef note version track’s better… ATV created the concept and initial design. Ef note improved it.

@@SteveTheDrummer if you using efnote modul perhaps. it all depends on the samples that are available for the resolution of the hihat.
