I previously owned a 2013 Hyundai Genesis RSpec. Amazing car. Ordering a 2019 G80 Sport in red I was a BMW snob for many years until I got the 2012 Genesis. I’ll never go back to BMW. Kia/Hyundai/Genesis are doing a great job.

After driving various Mercedes-Benz (MBZ) over the past 20-years, I have driven a 2018 G80 Sport for the past year. This is the BEST car that I’ve owned. All of the things you love, I love too. I actually am excited each day to get behind its wheel; it’s such a great driving experience. The Genesis valet service exceeds MBZ’ though the vehicle is fully dependable and has only required maintenance. Taking it on road trips is fantastic and with the great ergonomics and fast but super quiet drive arrive with no driver exhaustion, especially because of the perfectly tuned adaptive cruise control. I have raved to all my friends who are in other luxury cars that they do themselves disservice if they fail to consider Genesis for their next acquisitions. Genesis is absolutely The Best! Man, your videos on the genesis are one of the main reasons I ended up buying a 2016 genesis w/ the ultimate package! The car is a dream to drive and its an amazing value for the price. Thank you for the quality content.

I just bought a 2019 g80 3.3t on June 28, 2019 to replace a 2015 Genesis 5.0 ultimate that was totaled. I wanted a Tesla but the Model 3 was too small and the model S cost too much. Prior to the 5.0 Ultimate I leased a BMW 2012 328i with every option available. It was a sweet ride, but too small. When I turned the car in I looked at a BMW 540 but the value didn’t come close to the Genesis. $20000 more for comparable equipment. Frankly I was reluctant to buy a Genesis, but the warranty swayed me. I also had a friend that was happy with his Equus that helped my decision. I have a friend who would not buy a Genesis because it was a Hyundai but had no trouble buying a Lexus (Toyota). I buy a car to impress me and meet my needs. I could care less about my friends. My opinion... If you don’t look at a Genesis, you are making a mistake. The G80 3.3t has everything I had in the 5.0 with the Ultimate package and feels just as quick. The torque makes it a pleasure to drive. I was disappointed that I didn’t get the Tesla. But as each day passes I am happier with my purchase. Oh, as an expression of our “wild side” we got Havana Red. For the past 20 years we have had silver, white, grey, and silver again. We are in our 70’s. Happy motoring.

I just bought a 2015 Genesis 5.0, and I am in love with it. This is my 3rd Genesis though. I leased the original 2008 Genesis and 2015 Genesis 3.8 in the pase. The 5.0 engine is something else. I tested many cars before buying the last one. Lexus GS and LS, Mercedes E400, Lincoln etc. Nothing like Genesis. Thanks Hyundai for giving this beauty to us.

It's a really gorgeous looking car. Looks very premium and upscale. Glad to know Genesis kept a V6 in their lineup. Alot of people like myself love a V6 😎

My experience with Hyundai has been limited to an ‘01 & ‘09 Accent, I owned both, bought the ‘09 new, both were great cars & very comfy for small little cars, no rattles or anything either, I think it’s an underrated brand & I would certainly be looking at Kia or Hyundai if I was purchasing new. Welcome back! Great video as always. I had a 2011 Sonata and we loved it. It was great on gas mileage as well! That car looks beautiful inside and I love the badging they use today as opposed to the H. Anyway, keep up the great work!

Found this review and strangely, I agree with all your comments. I have a 2014 model G80 in Australia and absolutely love it. No thoughts of 'thrashing' it, just driving it like it is meant to be driven as a luxury car and feeling good whenever I am in it.

I own a 2013 base genesis. Drives as nice today as the day I purchased it. I want to move up to AWD but can’t justify getting rid of such a nice paid for vehicle.

I am a true fun of Genesis/Hyundai/Kia. They are better than most of these brands out there with the huge sales numbers. Trust me I have the new sportage in place of rav 4. It drives better. I replaced my 2014 Corolla with Elantra sport. Will love to go for the G70 sometime next year. Better quality, low maintenance. With Genesis experience I don't have to worry about maintenance for 5year with a loaner and pick up for service anywhere.

Great video. I’ve been in the car business for 20 years. I’ve been driving for 25 years. I’ve driven almost every car and have personally owned over 50 cars. I’ve always been curious of the G80 but could never get past the Hyundai stigma. I’ve owned Ford Raptors, Maserati cars, multiple Cadillacs, multiple Lincoln’s and finally this past week bought a G80 we took in on trade with super low miles. I must say my only regret is that I didn’t buy one sooner. I am ultra impressed with this vehicle. My only single complaint is pertaining to the remote start. You have to pay for two packages to get it which is not the end of the world and when the vehicle is remote started the hazards flash the whole time. Other than that this is hands down the biggest value for the money I’ve ever driven. Everything about it screams quality.

I own a 2015 Genesis. I absolutely love driving it. We have taken it from Clearwater Beach Florida to Columbia Maryland and then to Northern Minnesota for a family trip. It was a blast to drive and very comfortable to ride in. And I use to own a 535i Beemer. Never again, this Genesis is wayyyy better than that Beemer!!! I'll be trading my 2015 in this year for a newer model. It's a great car!!!!

Perfect video! We bought the G 80 two days ago. We already owned the 3.8 Coupe. The G 80 is as you said simply a great ride. The Coupe is fast close to that Stinger. As you do, I find myself driving this G 80 with luxury in my gas pedal foot! The Coup not so. I am on it all the time!

Great video! I’ve owned BMW’s(3), Mercedes, and an Audi A7. I enjoyed driving all of them especially the Audi. Last month I found a used 2020 G80 and right off the bat I fell in love! You are spot on with you critique! I am not bored, love the feel when it’s on the road, and the overall workmanship is stellar. Sound system, panoramic roof, and the luxury feel in the base model has me a Genesis fan for life. The price for what I got is such a bargain!!!! I would buy another one. I’m very good at detailing cars and picked up a black with light grey interior and it is CLEAN! My friends are envious. Great review brother.

As a recent subscriber I’m very glad to see that you focus on the details that matter most with vehicles, the day to day things such as drivability, comfort, gas mileage, reliability. It’s annoying when someone spends 10 minutes of a video pointing out how great a car is because the glovebox has a mesh lining and not hard plastic or how awesome it is that the “Oh shit!” handle has soft material. Your no bullshit approach is great. I’m trying to pick my next car and your videos on the G80 are one reason why I’m considering buying one. I thought I had my mind made up to get an ES 350 until I test drove one, a 2018. I get what the ES is about and I know it’s not about handing or agility but I was expecting a little more as far as steering and road feel. Maybe I didn’t give myself enough time to get used to it’s driving dynamics. The car was almost new with less than 10k miles and was impressive as far as quality and comfort. I drove about 80 miles to the dealership in my 2004 Saab 9-5 aero that has about 200k miles on it and just couldn’t see spending $35k+ on replacing it with a car that was less fun to drive. I’m considering the Lexus because of its reliability and quality and plan on test driving a 2019 ES 350. How do you feel the 2019 compares to the 2018 in regards to handling, power, quality? I understand some people have issues with the 8 speed transmission in how it seems to search for gears or not shift smoothly at times. Also, how would you compare the G80 to either generation ES? With all things being equal between an ES and a G80 (mileage, service history, options, condition, price) which would you rather drive for the next 10 years? I appreciate any feedback as I keep cars for 10 years and want to get the safest, most reliable and enjoyable car that I can afford. I’m not looking for a sports car but I wouldn’t mind giving up a little luxury for a bit more responsivenesses, handling. Thanks.

I totally agree with your points not only on this video on the any other video i watched u got great points! But there is a BIG problem about this vehicle and im really surprised why nobody is talking about this if i had a youtube channel that would get couple views i would definitely do it. The problem is the TRANSMISSION, for some reason they had this problem from the the older hyundai genesises(before 2015) and that problem is still on these cars, they did not fix it unfortunately, and by the things that read online about it there is not going to be a single warning light or any codes for it, even if you take it to the dealer they will only recommend you to change it! And if you are not under warranty you going to pay around 4 grand for their unfixed problem. I bought a used 15 g80 3.8 and after a year the transmission start slipping gears shaking the whole car while changing gears and not acting normal at all. And i took it to the dealer they did not find anything but after i told them somebody should test drive the vehicle they offer me to change the transmission. No fixes or anything. I hope you can find a vehicle with this problem and show it to others

Nice to see another vid. Genesis will be a good shake-up to the old-guard luxury. Once Genesis-only dealerships are out there I think they'll make some good strides. That G80 is nice, you look like you're balling driving around in it. I love the look of the G70, that would have been a hard decision if it was out when I got the S4.

When I was in the market for one I ended up on the 2015 3.8 sedan with the moon roof and still is a great car with a few Genesis flaws

I have a black 2015 Genesis. I was looking at getting a BMW when I saw the Genesis and I did my research and the rest is history. Also, it’s a head turner. I even caught an old guy parked next to it in an E-class checking it out. I I tinted all of the windows and windshield, then I debadged it and blacked out the wings and chrome. My only knock is customer service. Lexus is much better.

Really enjoyed your video. It's the real type of info I like to hear. The car sounds like it rides heavy and really quiet. How does it do with road noise, like expansion joints and road imperfections? I have a loaded Ford Taurus that has been an awesome car, but the thin big tires bring every expansion joint or road bump into the car. I'm hoping the G80 is a lot better, since I think it is a killer looking car. Also, have you heard anything about dealer inventory problems? I see so few G80 cars in inventory. Thanks!

FYI G80 comes with 3.3 engine which is terrible for it's weight. 3.8 just ok it reaches 60 m/h in 9s if you were light with zero wind on flat road. 3.3T is a good engine. 5.0 is a monster. non of American muscles with 6.0 can beat it. I wish Genesis can do something for the fuel consumption such as disengaging 4 cylinders when not needed.

You can’t get UVO on Genesis, that’s a Kia only option. Stinger past gotcha thinking UVO.

Its got good torque for a n/a v6, almost 300! must be that compression and DI system.

I love Genesis but they have to redo the emblem .... hate it.. also they should do better with gas mileage...take a chapter out of Camry’s book

I can tell you why there are not more on the road....In US laws against the fact that Hyundai tried to go strait to a luxury car with the Genesis.. They can do that...but there are steps they have to take..and from what I understand, they didn't. I really like the Genesis.. Where I work, we get a lot of these...still do.. We cant sell many to the dealers, because of the rules...

I traded my 2014 Lexus GS 350 F Sport for a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 due to the better gas mileage of the Genesis. The Genesis is also less expensive to maintain. I do miss the superb Lexus customer Service. I am thinking about trading the Genesis for a 2016 Lexus GS 350 Luxury Model.

Why did you choose g80 over g70?

Here is a car that thinks it is a luxury car. One way is the price, way too high. It's infotainment center has too many ways to operate it. It looks like a cockpit when inside.Purchase and service can be a pain because there are not as many dealers. Check the resale value. Oh, 22 mpg is not that great.

How much was your lease deal?
