I have had 8cyl 2009, 2012.2015 currently 2017 G80 5.0 Ultimate with 54,000 miles. I drive 33,000 miles a year. Can you tell I LOVE GENESIS! All of these vehicles were super trouble- free while this 2017 has had absolutely no issues whatsoever. The advantage of 2017model and later is tremendously improved navigation/audio. When is the rest of the uninformed world going to give these autos the cred they deserve? I am really pissed off about the trade-in resale value as the public equates them as not a prestige brand. These are plenty fast, super comfortable and quiet, awesome highway cars. No, they are not racing cars with spectacular cornering, so how many times are you racing your daily drive down a steeply curved mountain?. I enjoyed the video, didn't know about the carbon deposits, have driven 3 past 80000 miles no problems, first I have heard about the possible glass recall. thanks.

Great video, glad to see someone do a review and not rev the engine and harp on how quick they can get the car from 0 to 60. It's about the every day driver and getting from point a to point b in a quality vehicle. Thumbs up!

@@MeynMotorGroup , You're welcome, I really get annoyed when I watch a review of a car, especially a new car, and the reviewers are ragging on the engine and don't take into consideration that they just ignored one of the biggest cautions that every manufacturer has in the owner's manual, which is to take it easy on the car during the break in period. It's impressive that you had a genuine respect for the car. Good luck on your channel!
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup 5 жыл бұрын
Yea every car has a break in period and also the thing with “0-60” times is that no normal person driving on the street is going to brake torque their car and launch it those numbers mean nothing. The way a car makes you feel is far more important. I appreciate your support

I’m 18 and I have owned a 2018 g80 for a few months now. First I want to say how amazing of a car it has been. Secondly the panoramic roof was updated with the 2018 model and no longer rattles (it had something to do with the seals etc) I would also like to add that his mpg is spot on with mine! Very good fuel economy and actually much better than my previous vehicle (Nissan Maxima). I would also recommend only using premium because of the direct injection and the extremely/weirdly high compression ratio of the 3.8. One last thing, the vehicle is actually one of the most aerodynamic vehicles on the road today it does not have the aerodynamics of a brick lol! Overall great vehicle, extremely quiet, comfortable, great handling, and quick!

I own this car and it does not rattle or creak. I have driven 45,000 miles in this beautiful machine and I live in Eastern Canada. The car runs flawless in all types of weather. The dealership "Experience Hyundai" in Charlottetown, PE has taken car of my automobiles for the past nine years with tender loving care, this factor keeps the G80 running to perfection! I have the panoramic sunroof and H-track......

I have the 2017 5.0. Agreed about the panoramic roof, it does creaks intermittently. As for gas mileage, I didn’t get it for that, I got this because of the value for money in my opinion. Agree with you that it is a well built car. March 1st would be a year of owning for me. Have 8946 miles so far, no issues so far. One thing I should point out, a projectile cracked the windshield, insurance replaced for $2600 ( parts and labour). It is expensive because of the rain sensor and the HUD (from what I was told).
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for stopping by excellent job with the 5.0 it really doesn’t get much better than a V8 G80. And yea the V8 isn’t built for the gas mileage unless you baby it but what’s the point of driving a V8 like that you should enjoy the motor. I appreciate you sharing that information about the windshield i totally forgot to mention it as it is costly in the higher trims for the reasons you mentioned, I’m sure your comment will help someone out. I hope you continue to enjoy your G80 for years to come my friend take care

(Liked and subscribed): I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis; purchased new and currently has 46K on the odometer. Love this really solid and reliable car; interior is pristine and the three-stage paint is in excellent condition. Last year, after several days of a soaking rainfall, the panoramic roof began squeaking and buzzing while driving over rough roads. I applied silicone lubricant to the seals around the roof window (and I also applied it to all of the other rubber seals) and that silenced the noise emanating from the roof window. I would definitely purchase this car again and feel it has provided an excellent value for what it was priced at.

Glad your Genesis has been holding up well and excellent solution to the problem I’m glad you posted this because I know this can help someone out. The panoramic roof rattling/creaking problem is the truth! I recently had the roof repaired (under warranty thankfully!) because it was getting stuck open. Unfortunately, this has made the creaking noise worse. Having owned both a 2009 (first gen) and a 2015 sedan, I have also had numerous electronic problems, the worst requiring a tow on the 2015 after only a few thousand miles due to a leaky tail light recall. If you purchase this car, buy an extended warranty, not just for the moonroof, but for the electronics. These sedans are the definition of a love/hate relationship.

The newer model will have a slightly more updated infotainment and LED lights because the 2015 didn’t have LED DRL other than that if you can get a strong warranty on the 2015 and it’s significantly cheaper that might be your best bet. I purchased the 2018 3.3t genesis g80 awd sport for 62k. Put 1200 miles on it in 2 months and traded it. I lost 17k depreciation. Didnt like the turbo lag, tires and windshields wipers. Luved the quit interior and comfy seats. The car had me hypnotized when i first seen it. Had to have it. It wasnt a good match for me after 2 months so i traded it.

I had the Stinger which like you I got rid of pretty quickly. Same motor and yes it had the lag but I think overall it’s a good motor, but no where near BMW levels of engine and trans performance. I think the Sport is a good car however the my preference would be the 5.0 NA motor. Just suits the vehicle more in my opinion and can’t match the smoothness of a V8. I think you would have enjoyed that car more because overall I would say the G80 is one of the greatest driving luxury cars. Sorry it didn’t work out

@@billybob1511 3.3. The lag is throughout the acceletation. The car is still very fast, quit and comfortable. The engine just felt a little unrefined maybe because of turbo. I recommend this car if your looking for a luxury car and not willing to spend $100k for a Mercedes s class which i have owned. The g80 is a Great highway car. Oh and the stereo is absolutley fantastic. I traded this car because I am no longer into sedans. The genesis definitely pays attention to details. The dealership was the best in the business. If your looking for honest caring car brand dealers you well be pampered.

I've owned a Casablanca white, 2015 Genesis 3.8 HTRAC Ultimate Pkg for a year. A lease return bought from a Hyundai dealership. It had 59K miles on it. So far, absolutely trouble free. Inside surfaces show no visible wear, surprisingly. No noises or issues whatsoever from the panoramic sunroof. All electronic driving aids work flawlessly. I've done four 8 hour drive trips in it. Best car I've ever rode in for traveling. Like you said, a great daily driver, too. Best dollar value vehicle I know of, currently.

Hey Johnny so if I understand correctly you put 59k miles on a lease in one year and gave it back to them? If that’s correct then congratulations that’s epic haha. I do have one question for you which I did not mention here in the video, did you find it difficult to keep the vehicle in a straight line, I found the car to wander a bit and just wanted to make sure it wasn’t just me. I’ve heard some say there’s something wrong with the stock tires. I feel the tires are good but perhaps because it’s AWD it’s harder to keep straight I don’t know. Otherwise 100% agreed one of the best cars out, you need to get yourself another one sir haha. Thank you for stopping by

I think he's saying he bought the vehicle at 59k miles and it was a leased vehicle. To Answer your issue with keeping your car in a straight line. Mine was pulling when i purchased it . Changed the front two tires and problem was solved. I picked up a 2015 genesis 5.0 with 17k miles for 28k back in august. Ive also had an issue with my panoramic roof not wanting to close after it was washed one day. But since then it's been fine. I also owned a 2011 with tech package before. Genesis is the way to go

Yea that would make sense. Congratulations on scoring a great deal on the 2015 that’s def the best way to buy. Yes, Chase Decker was correct. It was a returned lease with 59,000 miles on it. I have noticed you can't look away, when driving, for for more than a couple seconds or the car seems to drift out of its lane. Tires and 4 wheel alignment would seem to be the cause/cure. I have heard that AWD vehicles don't track as precisely as RWD. I might attribute that to the front wheels toe-in/out changing slightly as power is transmitted through them. (?) Hey Chase, I once had my roof not close completely after opening it for the first time months. I guessed the pop-up wind breaker was sticking and stopping the glass, so I pushed it down with my fingers, then tried again. The roof then closed properly and I haven't had an issue since. May need a little lube. On a side note, I noticed a musty smell in the HVAC unit, so I ordered a replacement filter ($15 FRAM with baking soda and charcoal impregnated element). Read on the forums that the dealers and car service centers would charge anywhere from $40 - $80 to change it. Did it myself in less than two minutes. A quick KZfaq search showed the procedure. Couldn't be easier! Oh yeah, cured the musty smell, too.

Hey thanks for stopping by really other than those things, because those vehicle is direct injected around 50-60k miles you may see some carbon build up. I know in Dubai you get high quality gas so that helps fill it up with premium if you’re going to keep it long term, the motor will burn more efficiently so it can prolong some of that build up. But not a big deal just an extra small maintenance item you can always just take it to a mechanic and they can clean it out. Lexus IS250 from 06-13 had Direct injection they were good cars. Hope this helps

Exhaust Sports Auto dealer can't find the reason. There's a thread on the net about same problem. Basically when old battery died I went battery plus . They said we don't have a battery for 5.0 but for 3.8 no problem and brought smaller battery . I checked and it looks right 950CCA for 5.0 and 750CCA for 3.8 . The problem however is that smaller battery doesn't fit between the brackets in the trunk , so battery gets disconnected . Imagine going 80 mph and its shuts off , feels like I hit a pot hole or something . I'm scared something will happen with my transmission . What would u suggest ? Get 950CCA battery or maybe change the harness for the battery?

Hmm wow Philip I cant believe they don’t have a better solution for your problem.
