things that piss me off: old people telling kids "aren't you a little old to be trick or treating?" my 13 year old brother (who was twelve at the time) heard it from so many adults last year, and now his Halloween spirit is gone

My view on it is, if you're too young to get drunk and party, then you're not too old to dress up and go trick-or-treating. It keeps the teens out of worse mischief. If they put effort into their costumes, give them the candy!

I'm from Spain and here it's not a thing, but my mother is Gothic and my father a metalhead, so my siblings and I grew up celebrating Halloween more than Christmas, literally, but there's always that one neighbor that's like "oohh that satanic family" , fortunately it's being celebrated more each year , so thats awesome :3

Here in Finland we kind of celebrate Halloween but not really. Like, stores sell costumes and stuff during the month and I remember my school would always be decorated for a week or so and there was one day where students could dress up in a costume and bring candy to school, but there's no trick-or-treating nor do people really decorate their houses and it's not like an official thing here.

Where I live in Montana Halloween is still going pretty strong. It's not over the top, but there are trick or treaters out and about. I don't remember if they have a costume day at the school anymore though. There is one hotel on the main strip in town that always decorates like crazy, and they hand out hot buttered rum to the adults and apple cider and candy to the kids. You can stay and hang out for a bit because they also serve cheese/meat platters and pumpkin shaped rice crispies treats. I like to hang out there every year because the owners are also old friends.

Where I live most people go hit the haunted hay rides, the corn mazes, and giant haunted houses (there are like three different establishments that do this I believe). Great fun. Also, if Halloween falls on a Saturday, that is usually the best. Halloween falling on work day kinda kills the spirit a little bit.

My biggest issue with Halloween is the parents being way too concerned or over protective over the children/neighbors. I wanted to have a scary costume, a scary house, really deck it out for the season! I had my parents get all worked up, getting worried that children will get scared and the scary decorations/costumes would offend people. Know why I ain't afraid of creepy shit? I get exposure! Halloween is the scary season, it ain't Easter, it ain't Christmas.

Eh. While I always loved seeing the trees covered in toilet paper and just the spooky vibe of Halloween, I personally think throwing things such as eggs is a little extreme since once my parents were telling me about the time someone threw nail polish on their car. I'm all for a little casual mischief but to me throwing things at people's property unless it's toilet paper is overdoing it

I COMPLETELY agree with you. I hardly see any houses around here that are decorated for Halloween. And what really sucks is that we hardly get any kids for trick or treating. Granted, a lot of that is because we just don't have that many kids around, but it really bums me out when I see people's videos of streets with kids walking all over up and down and visiting houses.
@TheMaidenofDarkness7 жыл бұрын
When I was a kid, so like in the 90s, I remember just about every house that handed out candy would basically be a mini haunted house. People went all out. The last time I went trick or treating with some kids, I seen basically no decorations. I was so bummed. I only decorate the inside of my house because I live in the country and I'm only decorating for myself but I freakin' love Halloween.

We trick or treated clear up until we were like 15, but we went all out with our costumes. And what saddens me about Halloween, is that the trick or treating times aren't ON Halloween anymore. It's between the 22nd and 27th, now. And it's not at night anymore, either. :/

I will be one of those people and say that I really wish that we were celebrating Halloween in my country. Seems like so much fun, I would love to decorate our apartment and surroundings without looking like a complete weirdo to our neighbours ( my family is used to me already so I cant really surprise them anymore with anything :D ). There are halloween parties but usually in a bigger cities and as an introvert Im not very fond of spending my time at the club full of obnoxious drunk teenagers lol, ( although I have to admit that I would love to go to a smaller halloween party). We have all hollows eve - which I hope is a correct translation, when we visit the cemeteries and burn candles on the graves of our decased ancestors or friends and I personally ( as a pagan ) am also celebrating Samhain.
@melie9547 жыл бұрын
Curiously in Europe we celebrate St-Patrick's day more than Halloween. When I was a child we didn't hear about Halloween, not that much as a teenager but children used to come for trick and treat. Now they are all grown up so we buy candies but no children come. I was trick and treating last year with my 9y.o cousin, he had a costume but was the only one child going to houses for candies. That was a bit sad (but hopefully people had candies for him).

I remember that when I was really little ( about five ,or six) it was my job to answer the door on Halloween ( for the trick or treaters) ,but the difference here was I wore a witch costume ,when I answered the door... Guess,I was the only one who had the right spirit... because the other kids wore the obvious costumes...(a ghost, angel ( WTF is that?) animals, etc... this is what burned me up! Then years later , some preteen asshole came to the door dressed as a devil( or the devil)...It brought on nightmares for me!

Yip, in South Africa we have little to nothing for Halloween. People don't decorate their houses. We have Christmas decorations in stores already! Wtf?! One of the big reasons I encountered growing up for why people don't celebrate it is because they believe it is evil, which is rubbish since it isn't. Kids also don't trick or treat because people don't celebrate it and it isn't that safe in some areas. I'm just endlessly frustrated that this really awesome holiday gets neglected. Anyway, great video, really enjoyed it \m/ Happy (almost) Halloween!

People still decorate in my neighborhood. In fact, I'd say the decorating has increased where I live. Just a few houses down from me this one family goes crazy with the halloween decorations every year, and they even do the whole graveyard thing. :) And when I go on my walks it's not uncommon for me to spot giant inflatable spiders on front lawns, or see cloth witches and zombies hanging from trees, and fake spiderwebs.People go all out here (I live in Ohio). I guess the popularity of halloween culture will vary depending on your area, but people are still heavily into it here
