I've gotten mine done already and here's some things that might help anyone who wants to get a helix piercing(from my experience, not everyone's is the same): -Make sure you've eaten something beforehand, because you can get light headed from it. Eating ice cream afterwards helped me too. -Getting a stud makes it easier to take care of and you can always change it after the healing period. -Be careful when combing/tying/washing hair. Sometimes it tugs on the earring. -CLEANING IS SUPER IMPORTANT. You can use something recommended by your piercer or a saline(salt+water) solution. I use saline every second day and it works very well. I even clean my lobe piercings with it. Clean everyday for new piercings though. -Don't fiddle with your jewellery, it just tears at your skin/flesh and takes longer to heal. -Don't sleep on the piercing. Getting a neck pillow helps or just sleep on the opposite side. I recommend only getting one done at a time so you still have another side to sleep comfortably on. -Don't change your piercing until healing time is over. Mine was 3 months until I could take it out. Yours will differ, so make sure it's healed properly before you change it. -You can get bumps from it(eg, keloid bumps). Just research on the types and solutions on how to treat them. -If your piercing is infected, PLEASE get it treated immediately. I know someone who's ear turned a bit black from not getting it treated. -Make sure your ear is okay with the type of earring you are putting in. Some metals don't agree and can cause infections. -Always clean your hands before cleaning your piercing because dirty hands can cause bacteria to move onto the wounded area. -You can get a piercing gel/cream that could help with the pain and healing. Just make sure to apply correctly. -I would rate the pain a 2-3/10. It's like a lobe piercing, it just stings slightly more. It honestly is not all bad. Just remember we all have different pain tolerances. I think that's all. For me personally, it's been pretty well. I did mine on impulse so I wasn't aware of everything beforehand. Doing research is always better so you're prepared to take care of it. Otherwise, it's super pretty and I just love it!

Right? Me too. Triple on one side and just got orbital on the other a few months ago all with rings. It has been sore longer and i tend not to sleep on that side because u will feel it, but its almost fully healed with no other issues. I asked about flat backs but no one around here used them. So i ordered some from Lulus and asked them to put a couple in after lol.

I was so lucky, mine healed in 6 months and I’ve never had a problem with it. 😄 My rook tho... Omg it has been so stubborn. Actually cleaning it less helped me loads!! I cleaned it twice a day before, but I got lots of irritation, a bump and green stuff around the piercing. No joke, I only clean it when I shower; 3-5 times a week depending on how active I am. I let water run on my ear and I just dry it with a q-tip and that’s it. I do NOT touch my rook unless I HAVE to. And it’s doing amazing! No green stuff, bump is gone, pain is gone. 😊👍🏼

I have had this piercing twice. The first time I got it via a gun and had a stud put in. I was in the worst pain for months. It never fully healed and every few months it would be sore again and bleed. After two years or so I took it out. I just recently got it repierced with a reputable peircer and got a ring. The piercing has ZERO pain after a week. I recommend a ring over a stud. As a woman with extremely long fine hair my stud would get pulled and wrapped into my hair A LOT. My ring has never been pulled by anything, just be slower while brushing your hair.

Hey guys. Read past customer reviews regarding ability, aftercare advice and importantly, hygiene of the studio. Have all your aftercare kit ready prior to getting any piercing done and don’t experiment with anything. Like any injury, leave it alone as you wouldn’t fiddle with a wound if it was anywhere else. Also invest in a travel pillow or two incase you roll over, your likely to wake up when you feel the travel pillow. ❤️

@@isabellalucca5816 So, I’m not familiar with the healing process in a helix piercing using hoops but I don’t believe you have to downsize the hoop but you might want to if your hoop is constantly snagging stuff ( that is after swelling has gone down and almost completely stopped which may take many months ) Also yeah you may want to see about getting a bar instead of a hoop but that’s up to what works for you I’ve just seen greater healing success rate with a bar! So the gun method is just driving a sharp object through your skin with blunt force and *splitting* it, not actually putting a round hole (think of hammering a nail in a board, but the board splits). Tattoo places use a hollow needle that punches an actual circle (more like drilling a hole in the board).

Shattered cartilage is a huge risk with shopping centre/chemist/home gun jobs, not to mention the sanitation side of things. I feel like the former is a risk that not many people know about unless they're seriously looking into it ahead of time. The studio I go to use single-use needles which go straight into a sharps bin, wash their hands with foot-pedal activated taps before using disposable gloves, sanitise the jewellery and the room prior while you sit in the waiting room (filling out all the paperwork that covers eating within the last 4 hrs, photo of your ID, no use of topical numbing agents, waver regarding aftercare being the customer's responsibility and not the studio's, etc.)...clean the room down afterwards.... cleanliness and safety is and always should be a huge priority. My piercers are APP approved, have done courses in bloodborne pathogens etc. and the studio has been open for 30 years. I'd never go anywhere else and I'll forever regret not knowing more about proper ways to get pierced when I had my first lobes done in 2003 with a gun. To this day they still gets crusties and will flare up if nickel goes anywhere near them.
@feedthepanda_92
@feedthepanda_92 2 жыл бұрын
ALSO, because swapping sides in your sleep is usually out of one's control (or even resting your ear on its side while sleeping on your back) invest in a doughnut pillow or travel pillow; something that allows you to still rest your head and sleep on the piercings' side but without putting any pressure on it. I got my daith done 5 months ago and while I have a tiny hypertrophic scar/piercing bump, it could be a lot worse. I'm also so used to the pillow that I'm probably still gonna use it well after both my ears are complete 😂

I have a helix piercing. I got it at a mall shop with a gun (oops). I spent extra to get the gold because my family cannot wear fake metals (it turns us green). It didn't hurt at all and I felt fine. I had a stud but it kept getting infected (I was cleaning it at least 3 times a day and slept in a totally different posture for like 3 months to avoid sleeping on it.) So I switched to a ring to make it easier to clean. I've tried switching to a stud a few years ago and it immediately got infected again. So I got a high quality white gold ring and have just never taken it out again.

On the 1st of this month i had my tragus done in my right ear and my two helix piercings in the left. Doesn't hurt near as much as i was expecting just a bit of pressure. And the helix only really hurt on the second piercing since my ear was tender. I have only just been able to lay on my side after 20 days but you still have to be careful of laying on it wrong. Overall I've only had pain or discomfort for one day (3 days after) and that was due to swelling. Now i dont feel any pain unless one is hit too hard. Get it if you want yours. I love mine.
