I am 93 years old and I am still waiting for the VA to make it's mind about my claim. I have 90% and trying for the 100%. The VA finds it so hard to allow me to have that 10% that I need. I am still waiting for them to make up their minds if I will get it or not. I guess they might be waiting for me to pass away one of these days and then they will not have to make any decision on my claim.

I didn’t get my 100% P&T rating until I hit 55 almost 3yrs. ago. Actually right before my 55th birthday. I never knew about the 55 rule until later.

Turn 55 in November, will be 10 years retired and 100% P&T rated July 1. Me personally, I don’t go through the VA for medical care…I just use the closest base medical clinic (Ft Derrick) and have a civilian primary care through my wife’s health insurance (GEHA) through the federal govt.

I have been diagnosed with Parkinisoms the VA neurologist says that encompasses Parkisons disease I was at Camp Lejeune in 1986 is what the Dr told me true.

The VA says I owe them 11600 dollars. I got that for reduction in force in 1993. Now in 2024 they want that money back. they are going to take My disability benefits till they get that money back.

I don’t know about any of you but I am 100%T&P service connected. I have a panick attack every time I receive correspondence from the VA, I’ve been granted this status for 11yrs now. I also am trying to work full time but worry of loosing benefits, with all the VA is doing to veterans now should I be worried the way I am of loosing benefits?

You will be good. I’m a retired 100% P&T vet. Been working full time on my current job for 20yrs. No issues so far. But I understand your concern with the VA. I get anxiety too when get VA mail 😂.

I hear ya, but the concern is what the VA is doing now, why??? Because they are understanding that they (the US Govt) can not continue to fund veterans comp when they need to continue to support veterans they kick out prior to the SM receiving their 20 yr. Pension.

Hoping someone can answer here. Did an intent to file for increase in June, awarded increase on Nov 15th. The Air Force/DoD backpayed my retirement difference around the middle of January for that period. How long does it take the VA to issue their backpay?

VA does discriminated against the age of 21 years old when Chernobyl Nuclear Radiation EXPOSURE hit Germany, they do I was 21, and hundreds of thousands was about less then 40 also .

Could you talk about ischemic heart diease and what criteria the VA uses to establish percentage? Heart Ejection fraction or Mettabolic stress test?

I had a C&P exam last month. They did echocardiogram which gives you heart ejection fraction. No METS test (treadmill) I'm 77. I have no idea why.

Why does it take so long to add dependants? I added my two daughters as dependants since they are full time students between the age of 19 and 24. That claim to add them is two months in and is still in 'evidence gathering".

Interesting, not sure why, especially without knowing the details. If you had an accredited representative help with a claim, they could look into it for you. Or, you could ask your congressional district office to look into it, or you could call VA and ask.

You forgot 2 regs with age involved. One is the 65 year old rule for VA Pension benefits. If under 65 one must be total and permanently rated to be eligible then 65 and over one is then eligible. The second reg is dealing with the 100% t&p status that age, veterans over 55 normally, can be used to determine permanent status only.

Turn 55 in July, TDIU P&T for 10 plus years. Last year has major surgery for the VA issues and VA Doc told me to file for SSDI. Still awaiting decision.

age has no impact if you have no legs or non funcitonal body organs you have a life time event if you are 20 and had your junk removed or have a reperductive organ removed like a uterus you are now disabled granted you might get evaluated but it is still going to show those life changeing events unless somewhere in the future you will get back what you lost

Im gulf war veteran / desert storm USN, it’s been an uphill battle for every claim I put in for. Everyone I’ve talked to from conflicts after desert shield / desert storm have had no issue getting claims processed and approved first time applied? I have never understood this, it took me 20+ years to work my way to 80% I’ve been waiting on a BVA hearing going on 3 years trying to get 100% P&T. Recently changed lanes and started a claim for TDIU, not sure what will happen with this I except to be turned down a few times before getting approved. Any advice

@@darylglover7037 If you think he has done it, please report it to the VBA. I honestly don't know the best way to do that. I'm all for veterans getting what we deserve. Fraud takes resources from other vets and taxpayers. If that is your VSO, I recommend you find a different one. Sooner or later chickens come home to roost.

Does the 55 year rule apply to someone trying to get an increase in their disability?

I'm not an expert. So, take my advice with a grain of salt. After 55 years of age, they tend to leave you alone unless they suspect fraud. On the other hand, if you ask for an increase, they will re-evaluate your current status for the particular disability you seek an increase for. Any other disabilities you have remain the same, unless they are secondary to the disability you seek an increase for. If a C&P examiner determines your current rating is too high or not SC, you can lose benefits, even after 55. If you have strong medical evidence, I suggest filing for the increase. If the evidence isn't a homerun, I suggest you don't poke the bear. I'm currently 57 and getting paid at 100% TDIU with the status of P&T as my conditions are not expected to improve. Good luck whichever way you decide to go.

This hole process of dealing with the VA sucks you need to get your c file from the government get the proof of in service accident or injury and get a dbq from your doctor and then get a nexus letter if your doctor can't or won't do it then seek out a person that does nexus letters this should help.😊

@@darylglover7037 I have all that info submitted, I have Title 10 orders, I have DD Form 220 Active-Duty Report, I have DA Form 2173 Medical report from the records department Fort Sill Oklahoma. I have a nexus letter from a full bird colonel that is a flight surgeon. The hole thing has me depressed, stressed, puzzled.
