You, sir, are very correct about the whole KZfaq channel thing. A friend who runs a multi-million dollar marketing research company, here in Tokyo, told me that the KZfaq channel is so very important for getting new clients to contact you. I do home and office renovations, among other things. For the customer being able to watch you work, doing small or large jobs, listen to the sound of your voice, etc lends familiarity and familiarity breeds trust. Then the first time that you meet a potential client, to the client it's NOT the first time they have actually met you, as they have watched you on your KZfaq channel, and they feel they know you already. This has been key for me getting a bunch of new clients. Very sage advice. Cheers from Tokyo!

To be honest don't start at your house because if something happen they will come to your house every single moment that something happen. Something I learn was to not mix your personal life with your business have them separate.

42 years. 8 of my 10 years in the Army and then 10 years in a great little shop and then 22 more years of mostly mobile. I built a crane for my receiver hitch. I learned to interview my new customers and then decide whether I wanted to work for them or not. I recently retired and I am so relieved. Liability is the biggest concern in this business. Good video.

I left fleet mobile service and went to just driving a semi. I’ve been considering doing what you’ve done, but I’m bad at this whole public relations side. I’m considering starting off so this was crazy helpful. Thanks for the tips. I’ve enjoyed your channel since I found it!

Hey Stephen, I also went thru the UTI program as well! This was over ten years ago at the Massachusetts location. Been working at an equipment up fitting company called Altec. They make all types of trucks and equipment. Got a ton of time and experience in the field. My primary expertise is in knuckle boom cranes, digger derricks and bucket trucks. I have found this video particularly interesting because all it seems I’m missing is the mobile work truck and a garage bay if needed. My only worry is like u say finding a repeat customer base. Social media is a great idea which I never thought of!

I'm in Oklahoma and as of this week took over the family business. We specialize in advertising novelties. From a car air freshener with you company name and logo, air gage, magnetic signs and banners, calender to give out to your customers as well as the good ol business card, just something to make sure your customer sees your name

Good tips. In addition, you have to have a history of a good personal reputation in your area. Be totally honest with every customer. Remember that for every good, bad, or indifferent encounter with a customer...that customer will tell 10 other people, those 10 will tell 10, and so on. Bring added value to every sale...educate the customer about something that is going to need attention in the future so they can plan for the expense (even if its something you can't handle)...explain the importance of predictive and preventive maintenance. Predictive maintenance is replacing/repairing a part/assembly before it fails and causes unplanned downtime. It takes previous experience and good maintenance records to set this up. Preventive is changing oil, filters, making adjustments, etc.

While buying advertising for a former employer, the employer would grill me on how much each new customer would cost. If we spent $1,000 on advertising with a coupon then we would calculate $1,000 divided by how many customers used the coupon.

Started my mobile truck repair business back in september. I wish i had seen this then. I had issues walking into businesses. Especially with secretaries. I hated them. They did their job turning people around perfectly. I will say i have avoided advertising on facebook market place. Because most i have seen advertise that way are usually hacks charging 20 bucks to put a starter on. Plus so many people getting ripped by those guys its just better to avoid getting lumped into that group. Face book pages work best and google ad.

Word of mouth is powerful, I haven't advertised since I started in 2008, my work speaks for its self. I started the first few Contracts super cheap just to get my name out there. I didn't get any loans out I worked with what I had and just grew as I went. Be patient, you won't retire on the first year and it might get tough every now and then but keep digging and remember why you started. Great video, I came to your channel from everything home made and so grateful for the link. I was looking for the New Zealand flag but didn't see it 🤔😂 can't wait to catch up on your video's, thank you, I subscribed

I am thinking about getting into this...All kinds of gas mobile mechanics but not much on diesel. I try to use a local guy but I kept getting the run around. If you can't get to it just say so. I run a towing business. I will give long eta and even suggest to them to call around.

I would never want to run my own business but this is really interesting to watch. I'd also say get your business in the phone book. I've seen management pulling their hair out looking for a business to help out, and they grab the phone book Hey, where's the American flag?

For friends and family they have to give me the cash upfront to buy the parts plus labor. Period. Talk to me when you got the money. Of course I may go beyond the job sometimes if I feel they could use some help and do couple of things for free as long as I am in that part of the engine.
