Hey, Ernest! Thanks for a video like this. These are my thoughts on your subject; I don't mean to step on any toes, or be a know-it-all, but I do have many years of experience to pass on to anyone just starting out. If you didn't want a discussion, or other thoughts & opinions- you didn't state it or turn comments off. 1) Simple "word of mouth" is the cheapest, and most powerful form of advertising. All it takes are satisfied Customers. 2) Produce short and concise videos of your work- upload them to every Social Platform you can. 3) Present yourself as neat, clean and organized, be courteous. 4) Refrain from smoking, vaping or drinking alcohol in front of Customers, in their vehicles, and in your videos. 5) Don't try to gouge people on prices; be upfront about the cost of entire job, and get everything in writing- before work is performed. 6) Don't badmouth other mechanics or Shops. They might be related or be long time Friends. Other Shops might even refer you! 7) Keep your word and be honest.

Keep in mind that your reputation can be damaged by cheap parts.... buy quality! It takes a long time, but try to get used to what brands are best for a specific use... you also have a great point on appearance! The side of your truck does the most advertising for you (locally) How do you handle old fluids? (reason I don't do fluid changes)

Before anybody or anyone wants to be or going to be a mobile mechanic or a mechanic the first thing is to be honest with your customer that is the key point of everything is honest The reason why is your customer is what's paying your bills so that's why it's so important to be honest with anybody no matter what happens and honesty will get you further in life than anything else That's a fact and be safe

Great Video Ernest. I've been a Mobile Mechanic for over 10 years. I've been getting so much work, that I turned off one of my websites. As I am getting older and have the usual aches and pains, I have switched to only Brakes now. It's easy on the body, and I still have lots of work.Having a 5 star Google Review is a big help for getting new customers. I enjoy watching your videos, keep up the good work.

Good game plan but what do you do about parts ? Do charge 10 to 15 percent on parts you have get to make profit as well ?

How do you price a job on an exotic car ? If the labor takes the same amount of time as a honda accord, but you know the dealer charges triple? For instance brake pads or rotors that call for the same 1.5 hours. But the dealer would charge $900 for the service including the parts.

i tried contacting one mechanic from craigslist to fix my radiator but turns out he doesnt know that much and the radiator fan broke down after few weeks maybe because of that so it is sketchy to look for mechanic online unless they can show proof like youtube channels that can actually fix cars like you!

idk? Ive always got a few customers a week. and as long as those jobs make more than the ads cost its a win win. (They always do.) Usually one or two jobs pays for the ads.

I hate the mentality of "we're mobile so we're cheaper". I say we change this industry. We should charge more because we're mobile. These people today already think $50 to come to them and do a brake job is too much and that's because of that "we're mobile so we're cheaper" mentality. Let's change this industry

I think the next step might be to hire someone to work underneath you so you don't have to turn away so many calls. It's another can of worms to open up but it sounds like the word of mouth is really spreading your business, enough to warrant another employee so you're not losing customers due to your booked job schedule. Just a thought (:

Possibly not a certified motorcycle mechanic. It's a shame because there are very few mobile motorcycle mechanics, used to be a time where all I had to drive was a moped and no one wanted to work on it. I have a car now, but since the pandemic shuttered most motorcycle garages, it's stuck indoors and I can't get it fixed because I don't have the tools.

@@acerIOstream I grew up tearing down broken dirt bikes I could get for free (or some kind of deal), then there were motorcycles. So I'm always surprised there's actual schools for this. There are no formal requirements to set up shop in NY anyway... good backup plan for me I guess.
