I am watching and I'm not convinced about the 5 a day sweetie excuse 😂Does it apply to the grapes in wine I wonder? It's always sunny wherever you are, we are now in Cornwall where we haven't had the awful oppressive heat of the last few days. Good tips as usual.

Well obviously the grapes in wine count towards your 5 a day 😉😂😜 Thought everyone knew that 😂🍷😂 The weather where we are has been absolutely intolerable 🥵 Much cooler this morning thankfully. Thanks for watching & have a great weekend Gill 👍🏻 Keith & Michele.

arrived home today from Croatia and after 3 years of camping experiences, gained such knowledge that we didn't drive straight home but first passed our local caravan dealer and because we are quite impulsive, immediately exchanged the caravan for a new 😅 .... Nice videos who helped us to think about how we think about camping / our travels / etcetera

Thanks for great information and useful tips. Talking of towels, we always found it difficult to get towels dry too because we do like big fluffy ones, however when we last visited the NEC we made several visits to the microfibre towel stand, we were very impressed with the product and the information from the seller. We walked away because of the cost, we went back and purchased two and we are extremely pleased, they are very efficient at drying and most of all dry in no time. We no longer have thick damp towels hanging around. They also take up much less room than a standard towel. So for the £20 each we are very pleased with our purchase. They come in lovely colours so we can identify his & hers. Looking forward to your next Vlog Lozzie

Hi Lozzie , Many thanks for that information, it appears from yours & other comments that we definitely need to invest in some micro fibre towels 😀 Look forward to meeting up with you both again soon 😀🥂😎 Best wishes, Keith & Michele.

We have two aqua rolls, I have a small submersible 12 volt pump that is placed in the spare roll with the discharge hose placed into the main feed roll, with a switch is in the van. If we use water for a shower etc I just flick the switch and I transfer water into the main feed roll without having to go outside. This gives you twice the capacity without leaving the van.

Great tips , here are a few of mine in my 35 years of touring caravans , I am currently on number 11 , liquid hand soap , absolutely perfect for cleaning sinks in the caravan especially good for plastic ones and also your chemical toilet , never use abrasives , also great for shining up your silver/gold jewellery , the tiny little rubber bands around a bunch of spring onions , use 2 of these as replacement washers when your water pump gives up and save yourself £54 buying a new one , to also prevent clothes falling off hangers whilst traveling , buy large round curtain rings , the ones with a smaller ring attached at the bottom where the hook usually goes through , take off the wardrobe rail , and place the large round curtain rings on the rail , refit the wardrobe rail and then put your hangers through the small ring at the bottom , stops all those lovely clothes falling off in a pile at the bottom of the wardrobe at your journies end !! Use zip close plastic freezer / food bags when you open biscuits or buns , saves carrying boxes /tins etc., and lastly keep a small sealed container of water in the washroom just in case the toilet flush is empty during the night ! Hope my tips prove helpful to everyone and in the meantime Happy Caravanning and Good Health to enjoy our brilliant hobby !!

Hi Both, just loving your videos, so down to earth good tips... We swapped to using microfiber towels many years back, they are far more absorbent, lighter and dry so much faster. The large ones from Mountain Warehouse even have a loop for hanging already on. on the salt, using rock salt in a grinder avoids salt sticking. Im buying the mirror today, it is brilliant. Keep it coming...

We've put up a stainless steel wire between our awning struts as a clothes line. Quiet a popular mod in Australia. Also, I've put expanding rods in the bathroom and above the door to hang towels or jackets on hangers to dry or air out after getting smokey around the fire. They are very cheap from those generic $2 shops etc.

If you didn’t have the dehumidifiers a half filled bowl of ordinary table salt will absorb loads of water from the air! We always done that when we had our static caravan years ago! Just make sure you check them from time to time incase they overflow but just even place them in the sinks! Also cut the tops off match sticks and put the wooden bit in with your salt, again something that I always seen from years ago! Showing my age now!!! 😉

Good day All the way from South AFRICA. Have you change the mirror in the bathroom? We bougth the same Swift as your current one but the mirror has no light In SA they call it the swift Challenger “Coastline de Lux” You channel is very informative. We are old campers that is camping for many years but the caravaans in SA is very different from yours in UK. Lucky for us a caravaan dealer has imported Swift into SA Thanx a million.

Thanks for response, maybe that's a topic you could ask your viewers about as I'm sure lots of people do. I feel without arch cover drafts enter awning from under van. Great magnifying mirror AND Micro fibre towels - I've brought the mirror and ordered towels. Thanks so great to watch 😁

Hi Angela, It maybe useful for you to have a look at a draft skirt. This runs the entire length of the caravan & can tuck under the awning carpet. We use this & it helps to prevent drafts coming in from under the caravan. The mirror & towels are absolutely brilliant 👍🏻 You’ll love them! Sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.

Hi Keith and Michele always lovely to see you guys hope u both well and having fun caravaning fab tips to take on board aswell I hav a tip for u which I been doing for two years now is in the winter when not using van I get 3 to 4 washing up bowls and fill them up half way with cheap table salt and place them round the van and they help to adorb moister from van over the winter u will know if it works as the salt will go rock hard the all u need to do at the end of winter is bang the bowl up side down for it to fall out and wipe clean ready for next winter works really well can I ask when u drain down your water from van after use and put it bak in storage do u leave your drain down valve open when left in storage as I don't know what to do for the best cheers kev
@keithandmichele
@keithandmichele 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Kev, Many thanks for the tip 👍🏻 We have always left our drain valve open when in storage as this allows excess water to escape. The hardest part is remembering to close it when arriving on site! At least 50% of the time we forget 🤨 We also leave the drain flaps open when leaving site/driving home but close them once in storage to prevent any unwanted guests in the pipes. Thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.

Just watch your clip about tips around the caravan. Using an elastic band around open packets to keep them closed, good idea. But why don't you use a clothes peg to close the packet instead, that way you've got two uses for clothes pegs.

I use shoe laces, around bags and packets too, you can be posh and use new ones, or be a cheapskate like me, and use the other lace that didn't snap on your shoes. This is in the kitchen or whilst camping etc, win, win.

Hi Gaetan, Thanks, as always, for your continued support 👍🏻 By habit, we always remove the mirror when towing purely for safety. I think using air dryers is not a good idea. The caravan has a number of ventilation openings which go out into the open and which cannot be closed. Then you just suck in moisture from the outside into the caravan. We leave a number of windows slightly open, and all cabinets and drawers open. Then the humidity levels becomes the same outside as inside. And we don't have to put rice in our salt to keep it dry. We live in Denmark, and there probably just as humid as in the UK. Sincerely, Lene & Michael On Tour

Hi, so here’s a request for you based on our first trip on a fully serviced hard pitch. We stayed at Troutbeck Head in the Lake District, a great site in a fabulous location. However I had real difficulty in getting my pegs into the ground. I used what I consider to be good quality screw in pegs with a good quality 18V drill, but after clearing the top surface of the “loose stuff” I still couldn’t get a number of pegs into the ground. The peg seems to hit a substantial stone, then corkscrews opening up the hole until the point there’s no purchase left. The area can then not take another peg as the ground has been disturbed. Do you have a proven method? Like the rest of the country we had thunderstorms and heavy rain, but unfortunately for our neighbour on Thursday night we had about 1 minute of exceptionally very strong wind, we only had the windows open on the latch, so about 10mmm of gap. The wind was so strong it blew the hailstones inside the caravan, and ripped the pegs out of my neighbours 4 meter air awning flipping it onto the roof and partially over the other side. He had storm straps fitted, but his rock pegs weren’t threaded, so maybe not so robust. So you can probably see why were asking the question. Cheers from John & Al.
@keithandmichele
@keithandmichele 5 жыл бұрын
Hi John & Al, We have never tried the screw in rock pegs, we only use the 12 inch heavy duty pegs & in particularly hard ground use a small club hammer which drives them in perfectly. On occasions when we have encountered severe windy conditions, we always double up on all of the pegs for extra stability, driving 2 pegs at opposite angles towards each other at 45 degrees so they interlock. Also, if possible, it’s worth tying a storm strap to a firm footing such as a tree or fence etc. Hope this helps, thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.
@gnarlyboot477
@gnarlyboot477 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for the information, we think we will try out your advice. Do you remember the peg manufacturer, just had a look on the Internet and there are a few options for 12” pegs. I’d like to get a recommended product if possible. If you can’t help with the manufacture any chance of a picture or description. For information I do have 6 heavy duty screw in pegs which I purchased from Australia. They are the screw in type with a forged guy rope attachment. They are great but too expensive to order up more. Take a look at their promotional video at hexpeg.co.au The Aussies have some great gear which isn’t available in Europe. Cheers
@keithandmichele

Hi John & Al, Sorry we don’t know the manufacturer, they are the ones with the dark green plastic tops & we usually buy from campsite shops when in the UK. Apologies this isn’t much help to you 🤨 We will have a look at the Hexpeg website as you suggested. Keith & Michele
