It's all decent advice, but #3...normally functioning people care what other people think to some extent. It's how we function as a civilized society, you have to care what others think for it to work. The ones that don't are sociopaths and psychopaths, those people just do whatever they want without regard for others, because they have no capacity to care for the well-being of others. What people mean is don't allow your life decision making to be controlled by the opinions of others, but we have to be aware of how our actions affect those around us.

@@Jukeboxster you have to care about what other people think, she contradicts herself in this video about “being you”. If you like to wear graphic Ts Courtney suggest changing your clothes entirely which means you’re not being yourself AND you’re caring about what other people think.

You can still be yourself and dress in a diferent way. I mean, i dress like Courtney suggest before knowing her, but i started to dress like that because i wanted to be presentable. Now i feel myself when i dress like that, but if i want to pick other clothes, i still do.

My 20s consisted of just working like a slave and little to no fun. I'm in my 30's now, just hit mid 30's, finishing my education (I started very late due to the fact that I had to work almost my entire 20's until late 20s) and now it paid off big time. My life path is very different from other people and I am doing my best to shake the insecurity and the feelings of "Oh, I missed out in my 20's" and "am I too old to have a good life?" since I had to overcome hurdles in my 20's and I had to work so hard on top of that in order to be in a position that people will kill for (degree, job, and financial security) I'm from the working class and I can finally live like a middle class. I don't have to worry about things that I used to worry about. I'm actually learning how to relax and live like a middle class. The first step is working on the insecurities of the past for me, which is the biggest(I can literally cry just thinking about it)

A really positive thing I did, starting a few years ago, was to be happy for people instead of jealous. If someone has good news to share, I will try to avoid being jealous and tell them that I'm happy for them instead! Also, another thing which improves your confidence is having a STRAIGHT BACK (good posture!). I don't know what it is, but if you talk and meet people with your back straight it gives you this 'I'm taking on the world' kinda feeling. It's deeply psychological!

@ad izzle yeah I've just accepted it and said 'it is what it is'. Who knows, maybe in another life I'll be 6 foot 2, too! I'm actually a maths teacher trainee, and I recently finished a work placement at a school. In one of my classes, there were 15 year olds you were already towering over me at 6 foot+, and I have a great relationship with them. I'd make funny comments like 'you guys are so tall, I'm gonna have to set homework to assert dominance!' Ya know, just funny, lighthearted comments to make them laugh. It cool to hear about your short friend getting girls; I'm a 22 y/o virgin, but I'm not desperate to meet girls and get laid, I'm just trying to find my purpose, lose a few pounds and think of how to improve my game. If it happens it happens. If it doesn't, so be it! Thanks for your comments, buddy!

She is absolutely correct about how amazing it is when you stop caring what other people think. It changes everything and is like a whole new way to see life and I recommend trying to get there so much. My sense of humor has even gotten like 10x better because I don't care if I say something stupid, so I end up being super quick witted and I can't get embarrassed at all. It also makes me incompatible with dating someone who is insecure and self conscious about what people think. Complete mismatch in life and being able to enjoy life.

Building on small victories like working out, making good grades, getting a position at work or taking effort in dressing better on the outside helps, helps, with gaining confidence. Thank you Courtney. I wish you were here when I was a teenager and I could have listened to you then because I let my insecurities ruin my life back then. For example there were so many pretty girls that I could have dated and didn't due to personal stories or negative ideas. It wasn't insecurity of attracting these girls but insecurity of other social issues in my life. Not only did it affect me but also disappointed them too if they wanted to date me and I didn't go out with them. They thought I wasn't attracted or interested in them even if I was.

Courtney - still binge watching! LOL But two things that you say I find to be SO DANG TRUE: mindset and the way that you speak to yourself. I wish that I could say that I was "wicked strong" with these two things through out my life. But, can't lie - I have been very weak (at times) in both. But, this is changing. I have - for the last six/seven months - made it a point to be more forgiving of myself when I am weak and I have made every effort to be solid in these two specific areas (read: focus is very acute with respect to mindset and kindness) . And, you know what? Still working on them, but dang I am soooo much closer. It is amazing how things change once you are stronger in these two things. Notice that I wrote "....are stronger...." and not "...are strong....". I think everyone needs to constantly work on these two things.

I'm a bit introvert too Courtney, but I think I have a similar outlook to you, that sort of an introvert but with a genuine interest in social stuff lol. I like to chill out at the end of the week and be a total introvert, but I realize it's healthy to get out a bit more even if it is draining, I have friends and do enjoy hanging out with em, but I've been a bit slack about it, and that sort of compounds, because I'm not out enough, I feel more and more rusty at it. A big part of just being a person is the sort of social stuff you talk about re: relationships etc, so I really appreciate videos like yours. Your conversation style is great, you have a great zen like attitude and watching your videos feels a lot like chilling with a good friend and having an honest and thoughtful chat at a cafe/bar or whatever about these topics. thank you for bringing these to light so that people start thinking about them. i do have a slight disagreement with the last one. i think the self-talk depends on how you react to it. using the example you gave, "i've never done this before and don't know what i'm doing," the impact is really whether you let it paralyze you or take it as a challenge. "i've never done this before and don't know what i'm doing, so i'm going to stop here" is vastly different from "i've never done this before and don't know what i'm doing, so it's time to try something new and learn while i'm doing it." even the most successful deal with doubts and imposter syndrome. i'm one of the best in the world at what i do and the only one in a major global financial company that can do parts of it (i'm training the trainers) and still have bouts of imposter syndrome. the key is, i don't let that stop me. yes, i have doubts, i have the internal voice that asks, "wtf do you think you're doing!?" the difference is, i get up and do it anyway and learn from the experience. the challenge for me, that i would love to see you address in a video since you've alluded to it more than once, is being an introvert almost to the level of crippling shyness. i can do what i do professionally because i'm sharing what i know and have enough executive experience that i don't care what other people think or say (there was a time when, if at least 20 people didn't actively hate me all i had to do was wait until the end of the day). but for personal relationships and meeting someone new, i won't even say, "hi" and starting a conversation is a challenge so big that it's insurmountable. of course the irony is that people who know me professionally can't believe any of this because they see the extreme knowledge and confidence.

Even changing your style can give you a boost, and maybe a new feeling of self, because as a child i wasn't a fan of sweaters but mom and gram made them a lot, and month ago my lovely lady, my partner, talked about how good i would look in them after complimenting her on hers, and i wasn't for it. At first. Then at goodwill i found a cotton sweater, a cotton wool cardigan, and online purchased lambswool and cashmere (on sale), and found more cotton cardigans and i can't even begin to exclaim how much i love wearing them, having them against my skin or even as a layer, taking the role of a waist coat and being warm and fashionable. I get excited for the weekends to dress up, even if we don't go out yet she smiles more, i smile more, I'm comfortable and, to her, certain weaves can make you touchable, as in she just wants to feel the fabric over my muscles. An updated wardrobe can really help your mood, esp when it comes to planning for something a day or much more in advance

Hello Courtney, I have just discovered you and you are by far the best dating and fashion coach on KZfaq. I love the way you are eloquent, direct and always give valuable tips for men. No one comes close to use. I would suggest that you create a fan subscription where members could have additional information. This would permit you to post more frequent posts. Well done and keep going.

Positive self talk seems like such a silly thing but is so important. So much of therapy involves learning to reframe how you think about things. Many people who are insecure will quickly say nice things to their friends and loved ones. Getting in the habit of doing the same for yourself is critical. It also ties into putting less emphasis on what other people think. You can't control how other people react to you, only your own actions. If you're doing the right things and someone still thinks negatively of you, you have to know that it's their problem and their loss. Protip: Listening to Truth Hurts by Lizzo on repeat can help with the latter.

I think overall confidence is a state of mind that is developed through time that seasons a person’s demeanor. Part of it is not seeking approval and being attached to outcome in situations. It affords you to be authentic of whom you are and happy in your own skin regardless if they like you or not.....essentially.

OMG Courtney the wisdom and perspective on life and living that you possess at 25 is completely mind blowing for me ..when I think back to being 25 I was very surface thinking living for the moment no deep thoughts whatsoever I feel for me having grown up before social media cellphones computers etc I have never really compared myself to other people and I do not follow or covet celebrity and with respect to a pretty face on a girl (woman) if thats all there is and there is nothing more and she has no introspection or communication skills perhaps just an airhead what do I do with that? same with a buff guy who just essentially grunts how can the girl be allured by this? I do feel and believe that women are overall on a deeper emotional plane than most men and if the man has the intellect and patience his conversation with women will be incredibly thought provoking and rewarding ever since I saw your first video I have been completely drawn to you it seems I just cant get enough I cannot imagine anyone not liking you I like a woman to challenge me in terms of my perspective if I had a chance to sleep with a girl (woman) I would turn it down if my other option were to instead just cuddle and converse this has more appeal to me I would also pass up a one nite stand for a deep friendship someone I could get to know I am not a jealous person I would give up her body for her mind (mental stimulation) I am content just talk and of course listen there should never ever be any pressure as you mentioned to do anything your not comfortable with

About comparing: I've just switched to the IT from sales and music industry and became a programmer. I looked up to my mentor envy because he has a nice house, two cars, etc. We are in same age and I just felt I fell behind. Last week we had a chance to talk about each others life and he found out my band was his favourite in our country and he always wanted to be in a touring band. He absolutely enjoyed my touring and recording stories and told me he wished to be in my place as a guitarist. That was a huge moment and a lifelong lesson.

Courtney, thanks for the videos. I apply what you discuss to improve my marriage. I've been with my wife for 23+ years. Very happy. We built a wonderful family and home for our selves. I built for my wife her version of a Victoria Secrets Style dressing room. She just loves it. I enjoy building stuff for my wife. Confident and being able assert your self is so important. I found this very interesting is confidence shines like a light house. Meaning people will seek you out. Where ever I go, I always get chased down for directions. Even its at a place I've been for the first time.

Hey Courtney. Many of us are used, lied to, and betrayed by people we trust. Naturally this leads to deep inner hatred. When we hate, we only hurt ourselves while the other person lives happily ever after. Can you do a video with some hints on how to ease the inner pain and move forward? Love your channel!! Thank you. 🙂❤

Most of these tips I already knew tbh from real life experience, but this video was definitely spot on. Another tip would be self discipline which is very hard to practice and rare these days. But being someone that mastered it, I was able to accomplish a lot of my goals quickly especially since I am still at a young age.
