"Put the bricks down." Simple but effective word for me right now. Thanks for sharing John. May God continue to bless and keep you and your family in Him.

Thank you for having Dr John on today. My daughter has anxiety and we are working on it and I try to explain to her that she has to change her thoughts. I showed her John’s segment and she said it makes sense and will be working on finding out what her brain is trying to protect her from. Thank for helping her.

We have a pay it forward house. We are not in church at this time. Working to get out of debt. But we have a rent house where a single mom of 5 girls live. She makes $14 an hour. We committed 10% of our income to making sure that one single mom has an easier time.

Wow. I have always been a planner and big time budgeter. This helped me to pay off my mortgage in 8 months and now the house is almost done to my desire. I am planning to start work on my second house. And, this is possible because my emergency fund can help me buy the land on a one year payment plan. During the pandemic, I was able to help out two friends, stock up on gloceries, etc because my budget allows me to spend less than I earn.

4:25 Perfect examples of the Sunk Cost Fallacy. This has been studied in great detail and is often used as a justification for continued behavior, even though such continuation is irrational and unjustified.

I am so glad that you had John on your show Rachel, I've been listening to John on Dave's podcasts recently and haven't always understood his meaning. This episode made John's mission and his advice so much clearer to me and I loved it. Is there a book of John's that I can read?

Budgets are great for people with a fixed income or a set salary. I may make 1000 one week and 100 the next.

When we had variable salary it was super important for us to get one month ahead. Then use last months money for this months budget. So if we made 3500 last month we have 3500 this month to budget. This month made 4300 next month we have 4300 to budget.

You may also need a "hill and valley" fund, if your income really swings as drastically as you say. When you have a good month, put some of the money away for when you have a bad month. But there's no excuse for not having a budget. You need one more than those who have a more regular income.

Gosh I have so many people asking me why am I saving so much. That I need to spend and even that debt is fine for house improvements as it's a future investment. What happened to spend only what you have. Not so d what you dont even have. Annoying hahaha

This pandemic should answer their question of why you're saving so much. I was fortunate not to be laid off from my job, but I was prepared if it did happen. Financial Peace is a great feeling!

Having a PhD (in his case two) he technically is a doctor. PhD stands for Doctorate of Philosophy. I'm assuming the types of doctors you're thinking of are MDs, which stand for Doctor of Medicine. Hope this helps! :)
