@@JonasTyroller well, I do need to design better icons, how to get consistent people to download my game for a while or at least see the page, best way to advertising without any lost, and how to even start building an audience! Like I have a YT channel for gaming, where to actually start publishing, steam? ($100 when I'm making 0),? Itch.io (free) but quickly gets down the browse page so, dont expect too much download , just to mention a few😟. And what kind of graphics is needed, (see my latest games and tell me if I should spend more time on development of what), when to scrap a game idea completely, how to know if my games are good during beta stages when noone has actually done the survey,.

I always wished to be able to be a skinless piece of meat that is being slaughtered by big circular saws, but that has too many negative consequences, which is why I prefer to play Super Meat Boy instead. Being a triangle circulating a hexagon while being destroyed by walls which are infinitely moving towards the hexagon has no negative consequences at all, so why play Super Hexagon then?

Tip in making a good game: 1. Play multiple and identical games 2. Find the negative side of the games you played like design or game ideas i.e. Gran Tursimo and Grid what makes those two identical racing games different from each other Gran Turismo you can modified stock cars, Grid your car can get damage when you hit another car.... 3. Make games related to books, movies, history and sports and training purposes like building houses, cars and electronic gadgets.

Hi! I am a new fan of yours from Finland! I am making my first commercial game and these five tips were great for me. I have thought about building my community. But I have a problem, I fear that if I show my game idea too early, someone will steal it and make the game before I am ready. What do you think, is this a valid fear? I would add something to the appealing game section: Make satisfying animations(effects),for me this helps a lot,and the people can imagene how it might feel when they would play the game :) For example if it´s a game with shooting mechanics add a knockback to your player,a screenshake when the enemy gets hit and mabye a bigger one when he dies,a effect when he sprints etc Edit:Jonas maybe you talked about this at the 3 section,but my fingers were faster,sorry :D
@CHRF-5545710 ай бұрын
Easier said than done. Like how the heck am I supposed to create the animation for ejecting a spent artillery shell after the player shoots at something with the artillery cannon? How am I supposed to write the script that plays the shell ejection animation after the player shot at something with the artillery cannon? Especially when I don't know how to animate yet or write the code for the script very well. Annd there's also another thing I need to do with the artillery cannon too but . Who knows maybe, hopefully, my way of frankensteining shit from free models, taking and copying and pasting the scripts and animations into the model I'm making will hopefully work...

Hi Jonas, I love your channel. I dont comment often but I couldnt help myself with this one. You gave a very truthful insight about game's appeal, yet will you snail for me dont deliver that. I mean mostly the environment and character - effects are awesome. I guess a gfx makeover might benefit this game alot, because if I didnt know you (yes you build your audience 👍 youre truly a giver) I probably wouldnt even consider buying it mainly because of the looks. I sincerely think that people who dont know you might feel similarly. I wish you a great launch and thank you for what you do, youre inspirational and awezzzzzzome. I dont want to make this post sound harsh, but i wish you and will you snail a success not only amongst your followers. Cheers Balthy

3:26 only seen them once 80-90% of the time. I only play mobile games and look for paid TCG and strategy games and usually don't download because of ads.
@JonasTyroller4 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, probably a bit of a different story on mobile. As most games are free people are more likely to just try them out I guess.
@Toopa884 жыл бұрын
@@JonasTyroller I meant that I usually *pay* for mobile games and try to prevent free games. I also pay money on free games to remove ads but usually prefer paid games. My point is that usually when *I* want a new game, I don't get it because of ads but because I want to try a new game. I then search for (paid) games and don't give a **** about games I've previously seen in ads. The reality is that probably a lot of people get influenced by ads and your point made in this video is als true for mobile, but I'm not the norm as I don't hesitate to spend a couple of bucks for mobile games. People on the "Play Store" are greedy and egoistic as **** and complain about everything. In their world every game should have no ads, no p2w and 100% free content.

I don't agree that your game needs to look nice to have appeal. Just look at Factorio. That game doesn't look perticularly nice but I still had that "I need this game" moment when a friend of mine told me about it.
@FeNniXX34 жыл бұрын
Exclusions always exist. On the other hand Factorio's gameplay trailer is awesome. That's what made me think "I need this game".
@Toopa884 жыл бұрын
You are confusing two things. Appeal refers to the genre. A 8bit game will never have nice graphcis compared to a photorealistic one, but it still can be very appealing.
@JonasTyroller4 жыл бұрын
I agree to your disagreement. There is unfortunately a lot more to appeal than what I've mentioned in the video. The 3 rules I mentioned are a good approximation but unfortunately not the full picture.
