just sort it into folders, most convenient is sorting by genre. that way you'll quickly find the tracks you need when you know what genre or mood to play. this is how my genre folder looks: F:. +---Big Room House | \---Classics +---Progressive House | +---Glitch | +---Loop-ish | +---Bassheavy, Dark | +---Uplifting House | +---Uplifting Chill | +---Saw House | \---Old +---Barebones House +---Slow Bounce +---Happy House, Sunshine +---Slow House +---Tropical House +---Trap +---Glitch House +---Future Bass +---Future Bounce +---Hardcore, Hardstyle, Happycore +---Melbourne Bounce +---Famous Songs (Singalong) | \---Old Jams, Classics +Remixes +---Moombathon | +---Positive, Happy, Chill | +---Famous | \---House-ish +---Bass House +---Perc House +---Techno, Goa +---Famous Remixes | +---Trap | +---Bounce, Bass | +---Big Room, Festival | +---Bootleg | +---Future House | +---Low BPM | +---Chill, Deep | +---Future Bass | +---Progressive | +---Sunshine | \---Moombathon +---Hybrid Trap +---Build, Intro +---Rap +---Dubstep, Drumstep, DnB | +---Drumstep | +---New Dubstep | +---Brostep | \---DnB +---Ambient, Acoustic +---Chillout | +---Chill Trap | +---Deep & Chill House | +---Deep House (new) | +---Chill House (new) | \---Deep Future +---Trance +---Future House | +---3 High Energy - Happy | +---1 Low Energy - Happy | +---2 Mid Energy - Happy | +---3 High Energy - Dark | \---2 Mid Energy - Dark +---Trap Hard \---Hard Electro +---Breakbeat House +---Fat Bass House +---High Tempo +---Moombathon \---Growl House

Love this video it's exactly what I have been wondering how to do!tips were great and I think you should have a part 2 to this topic. You can even share some events where you successfully read the crowd. I will never forget the time I saw you at create in Hollywood. The dance floor was so packed that these 3 guys were about to get into a big fight I remember you saw that then dropped some cumbias mashup and everyone went crazy! It's like they completely forgot about fighting and started jumping together. Most awesome moment ever!!

I'd love a part 2 to this! A few weeks ago, I was playing a gig, and third of the crowd was loving most of the tracks, but the other two thirds were dying off. Any more advice on reading the crowd and responding is very helpful!

Dj's nowadays have forgotten that they have to read the crowd and make them go with you. When I see most of the dj's doing their gigs, they just play what they do in their hometowns and some other places rather than reading the crowd. Guys it might be hard to read the crowd in the first place, But once you learn, people will love you. Thankyou LAIDBACK LUKE for vlogging on this particular topic. Eagerly waiting for part 2.

Pre-made files with what you want to play most or the ones that are most banging, based on where you're playing that night could help you figure out what to make it. So if youre playing for 1 hr and each song is 3.5 to 4 mins and youre mostlikely only going to use 2.5 mins of it youd need about 30 to 40 tracks

you made a good point! you can't keep the energy full throttle the whole set. I've described it for years as, you have to keep it like a roller coaster ride. what fun is a roller coaster that just goes straight up or just stays flat. the fun is in the ups and downs and twists and turns. and you spoke on bringing the energy down, which I too have talked about it as, when you come down it only makes that much more fun to come back up again. roller coaster.

Great VLOG, reinforced what I thought was right about energy. Hate djs that just go all killer, no filler. The crowd energy needs to be controlled, this makes the drops hit harder and highlights the stand out tracks. Also I like to use bootlegs and remixes to keep different areas of the crowd happy. Obviously to those djs that prerecord their sets then this VLOG will blow your mind!

Awesome video I’ve seeing you at EDC this year and enjoyed your set. I’m just like the Mexican crowd we don’t really like to listen to the Mexican music because my family plays it all the time lol but would like to listen to more classics or new songs that you have. I feel like we get a lot of the same songs on the main stage but I would like a different set from you than the other guys playing at the main stage which is trap/dubstep . Something unique, I hope you read this. Take care Luke! Always looking forward to seeing you when you’re in CA, USA

hey laidback luke your one of my favourite djs and i just wanted to ask if you could explain this to me or answer some questions for me. 1. what app is best for production, i have fl studio and don't know if that's the best, yet its easy for me to use? 2. im currently starting out to dj and have a numark mixtrack platinum, is that good or not what you'd not normally use at a festival. could you maybe do a video on the best controller to use or if it doesn't make a difference? 3. could you do more like producing videos to help us use the apps you use so we can learn skills from you?, obviously not your secrets but just some tips. 4. when should you be looking at signing to a record label? 5. whats the best way to get your music out and be heard? is it soundcloud, spotify, youtube??
