TIËSTO switched from Denon back to CDJ’s. Would be interesting to know what he didn’t like about the Denons. Maybe something you can discuss with him in a vlog? :)

Joren I think he was getting payed by denon and his deal ran out. so he switched back.
@ChonkyMonkey1
@ChonkyMonkey1 5 жыл бұрын
But then the question begs, why switch back instead of just staying on Denons? If he switched back it would imply that he does not think the Denons are better (in his opinion at least), and that leads to false advertisement

Because it causes extra chew for the events. And, there's nothing really special about them.

To be honest, there's only two reasons why. Pioneer can pay him more the Denon brand deal expired and Tiesto reverted to CDJs because he simply prefers CDJs.

DJ Tip: In most programs (Serato for example) you can label your tracks with colours, so just think up a colour code for your library and know the energy of your tracks :)

Organic is they way to dj. Why live in a box called harmonic mixing? Freedom I say! FREE AT LAST FREE AT LAST THANK GOD ALL MIGHY WE ARE FREE AT LAST! So glad you are willing to touch on this subject and why harmonic mixing takes the joy out of playing a killer set. Being able to watch the videos of your sets makes me smile and appreciate the craft. Thanks for keeping the cameras rolling.

In 90's when playing full night sets 10pm-4am, you really needed the knowledge of reading your crowd. Every night was kind of different journey, the hit tunes were the same, but sometimes 30-40 mins rap/r&b between them was the key to blow the dance floor and next evening it might have been techno on the same club....

Thank you for touching on mixing out of key. so many times i find 2 tracks on the opposite spectrum of keys that work perfectly together. Too many djs organize their music by key and never test out combos out of key. When practicing at home, i find sorting by bpm way more helpful than mixing in key

I agree mixing in key is not so important for most genres. Sometimes I mix out of key a little bit, and the mix is a tiny bit off, but it still works better on the dance floor than fumbling around for the perfect track to mix and letting the energy of the existing track die down :D

THANK YOU! Your advice is inspiring! I agree with you about reading the crowd and playing the tracks that fits the energy. I love your philosophy, you give the crowd what THEY want, not what you want. It is refreshing and inspiring to see you out there putting the crowd first! Yes, it is our job to please the "customer" and that is not always easy to do. Thank you for showing us how to do that from your perspective! Keeping sets different is so vital. I've listened to people where I hear them once then come back in a year and the set sounds the same. If you sound the same in every set, then what's really keeping people coming back if they've already heard what you're gonna play anyway! Great topic to cover dude. Can't wait to see how those SC5000M's stack up against the standard players.

Question: Do you think as a producer is OK to stay with the new ganres that are popular now but with your own sound or to stay at your own ganre but experimenting with other sounds?

What's the best way to get the first engagement in a club or on a festival? I'm really interested how you got your first job. Probably you can make a tutorial with the best way(s)of getting "out of the bedroom". I want to share how i vary my sets its kind of the reverse. I search for mash ups and when they sound nice, i research their individual tracks or mixes. And do them individually on my sets. Or sometimes there are great mash ups with common songs example AxB, BxC, CxD.. I research individual remixes on A, B, C, D and interchange them on my sets, some other nights i play the mash ups. So it will be different but stays familiar.
