Greetings from Fargo North Dakota. I just found your videos and enjoy them. I only started painting, acrylic, oil, pastels, and watercolor since 2017. I am 67. I may never be famous but I can tell you art is such a joy to experience. My husband after seeing my art progress is always telling me how good my art has become. I am self taught. Thanks for sharing yours with us.

All the devotion to the band has been fun! As for the tubas, I like the way they are. There is enough for the viewer to add imagination, they don’t over power the figures, and I can actually feel the instrument’s weight on their shoulders. Thank you for all you have given us, Happy 2024!

I interpreted your “confession “ b/cause if I listen to the end I might forget , and lose the “groove “😊 : what people see in your portraits they will never see your world at the time of your work. Only the artist knows, that every painting is like a new born baby born by YOU , and nobody can evaluate your emotions!

You express well the idea that I have of the difference of feeling, seeing and hearing with our senses and not with our head, in this new video. A gesture and a sensitive perception and perceived by our senses and not an intellectual reflection and interpreted by our knowledge (brain). Definitely, your videos, Titus, make me think about my own artistic practice every week. Thank you for sharing.

Was painting so was just listening, will look over your shoulder when i replay your video. Love the tranquility and sounds of painting, brushes in water, the tea ceremony, peeling of the apple. Glad you mentioned the tuba and your approach, the round shape is soft in the midst of edges, it fascinates me in all the fanfare paintings. Thank you for letting us look/listen over your shoulder, all the best wishes for the upcoming year. Monique

Your marching series is so enjoyable, and you’ve captured everything you want to as to mood, movement, sound and atmosphere. Maybe just darken the tuba (sousaphone) a little bit? I dont think you can make it a bit smaller, which is what I would try to do in oils, but don’t think you could or should do that now.

Enjoyed your theme Titus and your painting very much. Truly just one lifetime doesn’t even allow us to touch the fringes of the possibilities and abilities that we can and are able to learn with a measure of health. Just the human brain shows that initially we were made to not just live a short time. The info I sent talks about this in detail and the future. It’s interesting that some were concerned about the sousaphone because many are not brass as you well know but I couldn’t imagine the sousaphone being the focus unless you were planning to change the focus of your painting. And I was relieved that you put it up for your back😊 I have such a pile of paintings to start and complete that I also just do my best to put my nose to the grindstone. It’s always great to see your projects as we all keep on working. I will have sort of a break if a couple of surgeries are considered that. I do need my shoulders to work so this year will be a challenge. Enjoy your time with your family, tomorrow is just the next day on the calendar. Thank you again!😊

I miss the time in the Art Academy where I was painting with friends and colleagues. I was hearing brushes and knowing they do art right next to me. This video sort of bring this feeling, it have those ASMR parts. I usually paint on music, but after a while listening - it require more attention than it gives focus. Painting with others is just the right thing for artists to do...

The musical instrument. 23:00 I think it is well balanced out with the house shape in the background. Same tone as well. I agree that it shouldn't compete with the mood. Technically rendered objects can steel the focus from what is important, the story.

Another video, another great expansive look over your shoulder and into your thoughts. The creative process is always fascinating to follow or see the results of by others or yourself. It never stops. I would claim that you cannot stop your creativeness once you are an artist (of any kind, not just a painter). I personally am inspired by everything around me, nature, other people, daily occurrences, just being....that is my fascination; it is all about the fascination with being alive and trying to put that experience down on paper or canvas. As you say in you video title - the ideas are limitless/unlimited. Marching Band paintings are just about there. Thanks for the things you have shared in 2023 and happy New Year.

Taking on subjects that are not our choice is something all creators struggle with when it is both your job and your passion. Thank you for sharing your views and insights on this subject. My personal struggles with not being as passionate with some work has caused me to walk away from many opportunities that maybe I should have done for other reasons. As you say, there are unlimited subjects and I have learned that we can't do them all nor can we always choose the one's we want to do when we want to do them.

Dear Titus, I stand with the other Commentators: thank you for sharing these insights, and your process and practice. It is fascinating to see the individual character of each of the Marching Band paintings, develop. This particular version I love...there is an atmosphere of passion in this version. And you have captured movement: for 'rhythm in chaos' take a look at Benoit Mandelbröt; fascinating too! Body language, and waiting on the painting's 'voice' is a wonderful spontaneity that "does suddenly" appear...that comes from consistent patience in process... But I love the way you explain your process...THANK YOU... The layering is fascinating... Music is indeed the medium of this work!.... Looking at a subject upside down is one of my choice methods: like brain gym...a good mental workout!😅 But strength for the Days ahead; keep on keeping on... And a Brave New Year to you ALL!

Congratulations, good for you! Love the work. I am not yet sure if I am a painter/artist. I have spent 1 year working hard to learn how, but it feels like learning in a vacuum. Seeing something wrong but not understanding what it is, that sort of thing. A truly difficult medium to master. Thank you for showing your "in progress" works-that's very helpful to beginners like me. Here's to 2024 being your best year!

I’m enjoying the marching bands so much, quite a change from the much more illustrational house portraits although I like these too. I understand about not detailing the tuba, as it would destroy the magic of the overall feeling that you convey. Thank you for letting us look over your shoulder, it teaches so much without words. I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year!

Hi Titus, I agree wholeheeartedly with the comments made by Jozef. You dont have to justify why you undertake commisioned work. You will create something beautiful for your client which will give them real pleasure every day and which they will cherish. This is the gift of a truly talented artist and something that only a few can experience. Carry on giving that gift!

I wasn't aware of the podcast Titus as I have been mainly following your KZfaq channel when I can. I love the space in your conversations here.. I guess I mean the quietness, which is so refreshing when life is usually so full of noise for me. Your contemplative nature and confidence with a brush is compelling and I always enjoy watching and learning. I hope your Christmas has been fruitful and that the New Year brings great intrigue and wonderful surprises on paper, canvas and in life. A wave of the brush from South Australia, Leith.

Hallo guter Man❤Ich habe heute deine Videos gefunden. Nun will ich deine Bilder genauer studieren. Und melde mich wieder. Viele herzliche Grüße aus Deutschland.

In this edition, you talk about the commissioned work you do and it seems that this could sometimes be defined as illustration ( for the film, for instance). One often feels people in the artworld look down on illustration, even though of course there are many illustrators that are excellent and successful painters too. I am impressed how you can work in a room with just one small window.

Titus, I don't really understand why you should have to justify why you make house portraits. Is that considered inferior? The fact that you have been earning your living as an artist for 25 years will have been partly dependent on commissioned work (as you also mention in the video, painting backgrounds for animated films is also commissioned work). And it has always been the case that people want to see their house immortalized. I still remember that in the late 60s and 70s, photographers would photograph your house unsolicited and then later offer it printed on a crockery plate. And many people bought it and hung it on the wall. And as long as you can put your soul into it and make the portraits the way you want, it's okay. You can say that most of the time you did what you really wanted to do. A large number of people work all their lives and at the end, if they are honest, they actually have to admit that they always wanted to do something different. I would say keep going and if it ever gets to the point where you get bored, you can paint other subjects...... portraits, pets (dogs, cats, horses, etc.) There are even people who paint portraits. want from their car (because it is a special type or model or a unique piece) I hope for your sake that customers do not also want the extra large size for a house portrait, because then I fear it will hurt your back. Wishing you a nice creative New Year, Greeting Jozef.

Hi Jozef, I think you’re right. There’s no need to justify. I tried to answer a frequently asked question. But indeed, good paintings are good paintings. Good music is good music. The subjects and styles don’t matter
