I really like this lock. It’s not an easy pick and those trap pins can be infuriating. Only the hardcore will watch the full 360 pick! :-)
Remember: only pick locks that are yours and that are not in use! Keep locksport legal!

To me the ATK is the ideal level of security for home...robust against physical attacks and enough of a nuisance to deter picking. It ensures that evil-doers will resort to destructive entry (if they haven't got a key), but doesn't make it too difficult for a locksmith to get in non-destructively. I find those bleedin' trap pins to be more awkward to pick than the main lock, I can't imagine how annoying they'd be if you had to pick one installed in a door.

Really enjoyed watching this lock being picked and gutted. Got myself recently in trouble , father lost main (and remote) key for Ford , so , I took one of those cheap "tibbe" lock decoders , as spare key he put inside car. Big hassle for someone unfamiliar with this type of locks. Now for this lock here. From side , it looks a lot like Abloy Protec 2 cylinder with thumb turn. Now , having really hard time opening , well , more picking my own car , and having ordered Abloy cylinder for myself , thought , what if I can somehow make similar pick from those for Ford "Tibbe" lock , to be for Abloy Protec 2 lock. I mean , similar design. I think that interactive element , aka small ball bearing inside key can be replicated , and using design for ford locks , creating similar pick. Or decoder , to be more precise. Have to think this out once I get that Abloy cylinder. And , pay astronomic price for new car key with remote and cloned chip. As most dealerships can't replicate them , only few of them , based on cars VIN , aka batches. Damn.

Hi Lock Noob, Interesting lock, we don't see them Down Under. Obviously a little frustrating, and deliberately so. I'm sure a spinner wouldn't really be effective after picking, however, while not being in the spirit of Locksport, I'm a fan of impressioning - I'm guessing that would be the way to go! (:-) Regards, Brian.

I like avocets. I’ve got a few that are significantly further down the difficulty scale but I still find them challenging little picks and I usually need the whole 10 minutes to pick my way through, (if I can’t get in inside 10 minutes, I move on. Means I stay sane and don’t throw any locks out the window, shortly followed by my picks!). Anyway, top content as always and your prowess as a competitive picker shows!!
@LockNoob

They dondemand a lot of picking time, that’s for sure :-)

What can I say.... That was a fantastic showcase pick. You did it flawlessly too. Absolutely first class. Now after all that well deserved praise... how does an anti bump pin work? Obviously it stops the use of a bump key but how? Great pick Lock Noob 11 out of 10.

Really cool look! It looks both fun and frustrating LOL. My question to you is, if you were in the field how well do you think a plug spinner might work in order to avoid the hassle?
@LockNoob
@LockNoob 5 жыл бұрын
That is an interesting question. I’ve not tried, but I genuinely think that a plug spinner would only move you forwards a couple of positions and you’d still have to pick your way of of some trap pins. Worth trying... I just don’t own a plug spinner yet :-)

@@HelpfulLockPicker I guess so long as the plug spinner stops between the trap pins you would just reset the spinner and do it again. Now what's the chances of getting it to stop at the right spot, that's the question now?

As a relative noob(no offence😬) at picking i was well happy when the core turned under my ruff efforts, but then the trap pins (that i had'nt even noticed) jumped into the core🙈 i cant get past the little buggers. Trying to hold the lock,wiggle tension and pick them is beyond me😔 adding 'Vice' to ever lengthening shopping list now🙂 great video and explanation of that locks goodies,Thanks for posting Mr LN👍

Is it possible to bypass anti snap feature by inserting a blank key as reinforcement of weakened core? Good work!
@LockNoob
@LockNoob 5 жыл бұрын
Possibly, but it does have that hardened steel core and the lockdown mechanism, so I still think it would hold up :-)
@adrn25m

Great picking and review as always. I was wondering if the trap pins can still be bypassed by a bump key and can the thumb turn actuator be bypassed with thumb turn wires? I know that there are some locks that the thumb turn wires can not activate the cam so was wondering if this was more secure than a standard euro lock with regards to bumping and bypassing the thumb turn?
@LockNoob
@LockNoob 5 жыл бұрын
It has a number of anti bump features, but if it could be bumped (which I doubt ) then you would avoid the trap pins :-)
@roysammons2445
@roysammons2445 3 жыл бұрын
It can't be bypassed. The thumbturn has to be pushed in to engage the mechanism so bypassing wouldn't do anything.

Yes, you’d have to rotate it probably 180 to open in situ, but let’s leave that to the locksmiths :-)

Hi there - I have these locks and was alarmed by another video that showed how a euro thumb turn can be easily bypassed ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ntxyptCqypPJio0.html ) Am I right in thinking that this method wouldn’t work on this particular lock as the piece that turns the cam is part of the cylinder and so picking would be required?
