What did the pan look like? Clutch material? You may have broken solenoid

@@transmissionpartsnow3866 i bought the 2005 ford explorer with 190k miles on it (i dont know maybe the transmission was already replaced once). So the pan has had a lot of metal shavings in it (only very very fine like dust) and the fluid was very dark (but didnt smell burnt). The tranny will not shift down at a stop light, but i feel that it shifts down as soon as i accelerate (i guess thats bc the higher pressure in the system?). It jerks when i put it in drive and reverse. It also does some kind of jerk when i put it from drive/reverse into neutral/park (feels that it is something like a release jerk - the tension falls off and it jerks is what i guess). When i am already in "drive" and accelerate it will shift fine, just sometimes i notice that it shifts a bit easier if i stop accelerating for a second. Oh and the reason why i changed the solenoid pack was - bc it was rusted completely and the wire plug too (water from the a/c was tripping on the connector and the connector hasn't had any grease/sealing), so the former owner was probably driving without a functional solenoid pack for a while (the only gears that would engage without working solenoid pack were reverse and the 3rd gear). Oh and when im accelerating i hear a wisteling noise (but that could be the engine too idk).

Sounds like you need a rebuilt transmission.

Thats bad. Can i continue to drive with that transmission till it brakes down? And a used one should be way cheaper?
