Going from elementary to middle is so emotional. It's like hard reality that you don't have a little kid anymore. Hang in there momma! Glad to hear she had such a great year!

I love IEW!! Coming from Good and the Beautiful it’s been amazing!!! we started year 1 level a even though I have an 8th grader. I definitely felt we were missing a lot in our last “writing” curriculum.

Thanks for sharing your end of year wrap up! My daughter will be in 5th grade next year. Could you share more about your experiences and recommendations on the transition to "tween-hood?" I'd love to hear more about the co-op and other social opportunities you've added that have worked for her. I can already see my 10 year old needing her friendships more and will be seeking out additional experiences for her 5th grade year. The transition to middle school is definitely a time of changes!

We have used both, and prefer CLE. It's more interesting and the reference charts are very helpful.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Outschool…I’ve been tempted to try classes but have been hesitant not knowing how they will be set up or if they will be enjoyable and worth our time.

I was looking into MBTP for LA for my rising 7th grader. There are 10 units….it seems like a lot we used tgtb level 6 and hated it. We are secular but use all resources. I loved tgtb thru level 5 and also the hs units but 6 and 7 are not my favs. Do you find that mbtp is very advanced and should go down a level. She is 12 so I was looking at the 11-13 but I’m nervous it will be too much. Any recs greatly appreciated!!! We also are finishing IEW year 1 level a this summer with her sister in 4th.

I don’t find that it’s very advanced but definitely takes some time getting used to the set up. They do have placement tests on their website to help. I haven’t done the 11-13 so I can’t speak to Much to that level. You could always contact them - they are SO helpful. Maybe even try 1 unit from a level to make sure it’s a fit….also with there being so many levels per year, it’s ok if you don’t finish them in that same year- it’s more important to enjoy the curriculum and get the most Out of it then rush through. We are using entire year packages next year and I am already anticipating not completing a few of the units.

Can you clarify who publishes the Handwriting book you referenced? You said it's Zaner-Bloser, but that's just the name of the specific font they used for the book. I'd like to try it, since you mentioned it also teaches students to read and correct cursive writing. I just can't tell from the picture who publishes it.

The curriculum is called Zaner Bloser Handwriting- purchased from rainbow resources

Just out of curiosity, I know you love Saxon but have you looked into Christian Lights math program? I am asking because we use CLE and I was thinking of switching to Saxon next year for my upcoming 5th grader and just wondered you thoughts on if the 2 are similar and if it would even be worth switching. Thank you, I appreciate all of your videos so much!

I had my 4th grader take the Saxon placement test. He tested in to 7/6. I think CLE is a solid program!

We have never used CLE- I did look at some samples of it and it seemed great. A lot of families find success in that program- no idea if there is an online lesson teaching portion like we have with Saxon

We're going into 4th & 5th grade. Do you think adding Word Roots is too much if we are already going to do All About Reading, All About Spelling, and Bju English 4&5? It just sounds like something all kids should learn but idk if it'll be too much with what I already planned
