SU was the aggressor and I heard vintage Taylor in his arrangements. JSU song selection was questionable till the end they tried too hard to be technical and lost the the simplicity in the songs... SU took the 5th. Good stuff Jukes.

Simmons and Taylor is what it should’ve been all along! That’s the contrast SU needs. Simmons is HANDS DOWN THE GOAT , but Taylor compliments that well with his own style. He is great in his own right. That’s what’s been lacking. Todd ate humble pie tonight!

as a JSU fan i actually think Taylor is a more sound arranger. brian is a fire arranger but Taylors arrangements are more consistent musically, Brian arranges for wow factor which isn't a bad thing but that's just my opinion

arrogant08 It’s all about having people that compliment each other. I would go as far as to say he’s more sound, that’s disrespectful to everything Simmons has contributed to band. Kedric tends to write the same type of things and that plays to his strengths. I’m a fan of both for sure but you can’t compare them on selections because they both wrote different types of songs especially on this night. Everything in Maybach and Toni Braxton was already there versus the things that Brian adds to his music. Kedric is awesome but the Brian Vs. Ked debate is pretty much over now. Simmons surpassed that years ago.

JSU did well all game but sealed their fate with that "Lions, Tigers, and Bears" 🤦🏾♂️. You can see it on Dr. Little's face. Southern's 5th quarter execution was just perfect. I do wonder about Todd though, because it seems like Simmons and Taylor ARE the formula for success. Incredible arrangements!

I miss being apart of this. Regardless of what everyone thought, the only thing that was factual was that we both brought our A game against each other every year. The amount of time it took to prepare for this one game was unreal. I'm forever a Boom (old head) and while I can't stand the Jukebox being across from us I still have a great deal of respect for their craft. At the end of the day we both gave the fans what they wanted and went back to that bandroom with pride. Hats off to SU, and we'll be coming back for more next season...

I'm a former Boomer and I must say our band did not have the arrangements they needed for this battle. I don't know what's going on but their arrangements sound empty. Southern's Toni Braxton joint was 🔥

It’s like football when a coach get out coached.... It’s clear Simmons and Taylor jus out arranged all of JSU songs and proved once again why SU IS STILL THE BEST.... ARRANGEMENTS ARE UNMATCHED‼️.....I mean what do you play after “Diamonds are Forever” Those type of Arrangement will beat you every year ....JSU have to do a better job at thinking outside the box when it comes to Southern.... SU is still miles ahead‼️

I was expecting it to be a closer battle, Jsu have nice Tubas but i'm sorry,, Southern really man handled Jsu. there's something else.. not all, but some of JSU's songs are, well weird sounding. like there's no vibe or rhythm to them..like Most of Southern's songs, even if you don't know what the song is, there's a certain rhythm and vibe to them that you nod your head to. Jsu have a few songs like this, but many of them, it's like you can't really catch a rhythm and vibe to them.. Also, their abrupt premature ending to their songs. almost like right in the middle of the song, it just end, or better yet, cut off. .. I have to say, I like Both bands but, the songs from Jsu this year have been, well strange to say the least.

The arrangers we had like around the 2010's was told they weren't needed anymore around 2015 so that's why the arrangements sound weird because they got rid of our great writers to let their current staff & students write more. As an alum, I still don't agree with that move. It's hurt them ever since. They'll have 2 songs at the most that stick out and everything else is bleh. Now around 10 through 14 we had numerous legendary arrangements.

SU with musicality and arrangements. JSU sounded nice as well but some of the selections were lacking. SU sounded clean for the most part. The intro and tuba run on Maybach Music really sealed it.

Ok from another unbiased opinion, JSU WON the ZERO BATTLE but SU CLEARLY the winner in the 5th QTR WAR. I kinda felt like SU was holding everything saving it for the 5th QTR. SU STRAIGHT SLAM THE DOOR IN THEIR JSU FACES IN THEIR OWN STADIUM AFTER THE FIRST SONGS. The only thing of this war is BOTH BANDS HAVE MY RESPECT and i wish my band program had as much enthusiasm to make the band as great as these. But this war goes to SU OF THE 5TH QTR.

I'm a ride or die boom all day but I cannot deny that southern had took this all the way clean sweep it's like after crankfest the boom had got laxed in southern caught them slipping. They let Southern control the pace of the battle and it cost them. The boom was doing okay until they play the lions tigers and bears that's what gave them an L. The intensity the boom had at the end of the battle is what they should have started with. Even on a weak year you still got to watch Southern, dont want until the last minute to use your trump card and flex your muscle

Bro these people judge battles off camera footage after audio has been manipulated! They don’t understand sound and had they been there in person they would understand. But somehow these SU Fans continue to think every muffed Tuba part, every missed trumpet note and no phrasing from 18 or however many Euphoniums that were gassed by halftime except on old tunes is greatness 😂😂
