This new breed of HBCU bandsmen can sometimes not be passionate about theme/ole school tunes, they simply can't relate being that almost everything is microwaved now... The Boom has always been diverse in song presentation.

tate6433 Alcorn does have their own style they are one of the only schools that stay original if you go back ! JSU use to be original as well but she Alcorn went through years of transitions due to recruitment if you go back to the old vaults you’ll see who stole who’s style lol but funny you mention Southern and JSU because unlike JSU Alcorn has band directors that taught at SU and JSU but also attended Alcorn for undergrad ! At least they came back to where they once marched! If Alcorn were to change and be the loudest in the swac or the biggest y’all would be saying Alcorn tryna be like SU, Dega of FAMU of some shit.. it’s cool to be a die hard fan of your school but its easy to say what a school needs to do if you ain’t doing it or helping to do it!

@@SnapShawwtyTv All of the Boom's staff marched at JSU. Didn't Griff come from JSU? Was Alcorn looking to bring back Murray before he spent time at JSU? Anyone who can't see the JSU influence on Alcorn is seeing what they want to see. The Boom's staff has always been mostly JSU people though we have given a handful of people from other schools a chance to be on staff. This is not Alcorn's style from back in the day. You can go to the Hauton, Taylor, and Liddell eras at JSU, and this was not the Alcorn they were battling. And I've never seen a school and their fans cry so much that they're not treated like the home band when they go into some else's stadium. They want to be the Boom so bad they cry when they can't take the ramp

Alcorn improved a lot compared to last season. I wish they used better Tubas. The 14 they have were pushing though. JSU took the 5th too. I was feeling Alcorn's song selections more but the execution was hit and miss.

Keep it real JSU theme song is Get Ready and we all know that and JSU plays it every game so if torture was Alcorn’s theme song then why don’t they play it every game as tradition? @@TravisCyprien to answer your question they don't play it every game because it's their choice. while you were watching bands I was blowing the whistle for a swac band to come to attention. Read what you just wrote and ask yourself if it makes since. music charms the souls and is the greatest of the arts where does that come from band head? Its assanine to think that one song belongs to a band however, certain songs come to remind you of a specific band and maybe the confusion lies in actually having band experience from those who don't, your previous comment makes it seem as if alcorn took or played torture after the fact in other words after SU. But in relation to actual bandsmen when you hear torture the first thing comes to mind is Alcorn and or TXSU so it's a bandsmen experience thing not a side line watcher thing so before you comment know what you are speaking of.

😂😂 niggas don’t be knowing their band history then come to the comments and swear everyone wants to be like JSU or su. And they hate to give credit where credits due. Asu did great. Mellos were a little thin but they did great. JSU needs some trumpets wit some nuts. Their tubas are 🔥🔥🔥 but overpowering at times. Their baritones are kind of low at times too. JSU got this but it’s not by a landslide at all.

catergory3kane I respect your opinion. I’m from Mississippi so I definitely support both. Valley needs to move to Alabama lol. But seriously the gap is closing between Alcorn and JSU but for now my brother I honest think the Boom just simply better then Alcorn. Alcorn just doesn’t have give you chills effect like JSU has. But if you feel Alcorn won then I respect that but I see more people saying JSU so I think that speaks for itself.
