Your videos where you show the progress of a tree over months and months are impressive because they demonstrate how much planning you've put into this channel, even before any videos were posted. But these videos shot only in the present show off just how polished your style and on-camera demeanor have become. Excellent, clear, and engaging as always. Also, that tanuki base is crazy; it's a shame you never found a plant to match it.

Oh, I liked Harvey-cat! I have had 2 brown tabbies in my life. The first was Clarence ( soo laid back and cool 😎), and the second, Simon, lived with us for 23 years! Brown tabbies are such good cats! Harvey can visit any time!

Interesting video topic. I regularly use cyanoacrylate, but had not heard of Paraloid 72. Your warning about Paraloid 72 also applies to cyanoacrylate in that you can't easily change the wood's appearance after it's applied, so any bleaching or other treatment needs to be done first.

I would like to try creating deadwood one one of the trees I purchased after the holidays. I am waiting for spring to do anymore work on them. See how many survive first.

It occurs to me that, given the use of oils metioned in the video, petroleum jelly may be an alternative, longer lasting "preservative", has anybody given that a try?

in leatherwork, to protect the leather, we mix neatsfoot oil (or mineral) into melted beeswax to get the wax to soak into the leather to preserve and protect it, this video made me wonder if the same concept would work in such a situation with deadwood. also made me think that you could use such an oil that would not leave a color. i really don't like the idea of using plastics and chemicals in this area to essentially plasti dip a tree into permanence. why not just 3D print bonsai? i feel a large part of bonsai is the stewardship and connection with nature. something about using synthetics in such a way seems far too artificial.
@GrowingBonsai
@GrowingBonsai Жыл бұрын
Hi, I am not sure what the end result would be. I agree plastics are a step too far for many. However, in many cases it is the only realistic way to preserve wood for decades, if in constant contact with water
