I'm going to teach you 6 really important F2L cases to do correctly, especially if you're an intermediate solver or faster. If you want to have fast F2L, this is a good place to start. Doing these cases efficiently will help you do F2L so much faster and make looking ahead much easier. I've broken all of the solutions down into their triggers, and explained exactly what each move does, in order to help you learn them as easily as possible.

For the case at 2:30 I prefer the solution with the triple inverse sexy move. This gives you the opportunity to do the sledgehammer in the end and thus orient some edges.

I’m new to cubing! My first puzzle is a megaminx (what a weird start into cubing world 🤣); solve it with beginner method (it takes like 10 minutes 😒) Then I realize 3x3 is the key to master other challenging puzzles, especially F2L. Remember a ton of algs makes me so “angry” cause I’m very impatient 😂 so Thank you so much for the video, i now drop my time quite a lot.

My weaknesses with f2l (or cfop in general) is that it doubles my time compared to using the beginner method and that really demotivates me from learning it, but I know if I keep going for a couple days I should see some improvement. I stuck with the beginner method for too long I think Edit: Just pb'd with cfop

I've been doing f2l for a couple weeks and improving all the time. I discovered the triple sexy by accident and actually in a different scenario also. If you have a 2nd layer piece in place and the corner above with white facing up (under the belief white is on bottom) then a triple sexy time will put that top cube into the bottom with the right orientation while pulling the 2nd layer out and putting it back.

When I got into cubing for the first time I thought that oll and pll are the challenging parts of cfop. Now, after a long break from the hobby and reconnecting with it recently, I have to say those are much easier than even solving the cross since it's just pattern recognition and immediate algorithm execution, a little challenging for pll but less challenging or at least on par with solving the cross as fast as possible, which also takes a lot of look ahead and having to also solve it with the least cube rotation and than when you get to f2l you'll need to know how to deal with all these numerous cases while also knowing how to insert from different angles while also knowing how to look ahead. I was but a child to think oll and pll are the hard parts.

There's something else that I like to do from time to time with F2L, and it was actually showcased in one of Spotty's videos. Try solving F2L without using your normal solutions, because you could come across a more efficient solution by accident. You'll mostly get inefficient garbage, but sometimes, that light bulb comes on, and you just happen upon a new solution that you would have never found otherwise. I think that's a cool exercise, anyways. But sometimes, just knowing the best alg for a case is the best solution to the problem, especially these cases that you showed, Brody. And showing them in this high-quality way makes things that much more enjoyable, and that much easier to gain knowledge from. Please don't stop being awesome. :D

I really appreciate the information in this video. That said please leave out the incorrect/ inefficient ways of solving each case. I started cubing about two weeks ago and have have learned intuitive F2L and 4 look last layer, and my F2L is very slow/ inefficient. When I saw your video on some, I thought it was extremely interesting, but now I have been practicing all morning and every time I want to double check what you did in your video I have to find the case, ignore the incorrect examples and then try to connect the case with what you do for you solution. This is an extremely minor gripe but that gap between when you show the case to when you start the efficient solution has been bugging me all morning. Otherwise it was a great video the helped me think in different way about my F2L solutions

For the last case that you showed, there is another algorithm. If you hold the cube with the slot you will insert the pair into on the right, and if there is no f2l pair on the left then you can put the pair that you will do on the top left and do the algorithm, L' U L R U R' U2. Then you insert. This also pairs the corner and edge.
