back in my millenial days we would just go to ikea and get a single bed, or a mezzanine bed with the desk under it. Which leaves tons of extra space for a dresser, a little couch/bean bag, book shelves, a playstation, etc..

@@anon_ninja when you make the bed, you need to put a fitted sheet all around the mattress. This involves pulling it down around the corners of the mattress, and even getting the corners of the fitted sheet underneath the mattress. This room layout doesn't give you enough clearance to do this. It's very difficult to put a fitted sheet on a bed that has its side against a wall.

Another solution is to use the height of the room, since it's for a kid/youngster the bed can be elevated, leaving room beneath it for a study area and saving space for a closet and shelving.

There are many countries where you enter your house without shoes on (and even outside of them many people make their houses this way) When you do that the floor becomes a lot cleaner People from those countries sometimes ask "but wait, so your floors are just dirty? And what happens when you step on a poop on the street, you just smudge that in your house or enter without shoes anyway?"

The amount of mental gymnastics in the design is impresive but it doesn't hold a candle to the amount of actual gymnastics the poor kid would have to do. I would run through the wall as well.
