My brother used to be an actor in Sweden (mostly really awful low-budget ones haha)... but the biggest one he was in was pretty good: "Den Tredje Vågen." He loved Bergman, but I saw "Seventh Seal" in college (at film school) and I just couldn't get into it. Though I remember liking "Fanny and Alexander" and I remember my brother taking me to see "My Life as a Dog." I love Bonus Family and am re-watching the first season with just Swedish sub-titles on to get better at how Swedish is actually spoken by "real" people. Another TV show I liked was Fallet and of course Wallander (first saw the BBC version, but ended up really liking the original Swedish version better).

I should also add that I really like "Kiss Me" (which I think is also Kyss Mig in Swedish)... it might not be for everyone, but it's one of the best in the genre of "realistic and relatable lesbian films." When I first saw the older actors in it, I thought, "Is this a spinoff of Wallander?" Haha.

Yeah, i watched both the swedish and the American remake. It reverses the roles and makes the little boy the good guy and the little girl the monster.

I can recomenend some movies -Den bästa sommaren (absolute classic and is quoted alot) -Tillsammans (Sacha Baron Cohen hired Gustaf Hammarsten in Brüno because of it) -En kärlekshistoria (Director Roy Andersson) -Sameblod (about sami people and not fitting in) -My Life as a Dog (Famous director Lasse Hallström who did Gilbert Grape) -Jönssonligan (absolute classic) -Änglagård (classic, swedish landscape/country side) -Hotell or Pure (Alicia Vikander) -I rymden finns inga känslor (Bill Skarsgård) -Ondskan (Oscar nominaded best international) -Sebbe ( A good diskbänksrealism) Tom Hanks is working on a remake of En man som heter Ove because he and his wife loved it so much :)

Hälsningar från Tjeckien! I am a big fan of the Swedish cinematography. My favourite films and TV series are: Millennium (all the 3 Swedish films), Ronja rövardotter, Ondskan, Fucking Åmål, Gösta Berlings saga (TV series from (80´s), Man som slutade röka (a great comedy), Äppelkriget, and of course all 4 series of Bron/Broen.

I have seem Män Som Hatar Kvinnor soooo many times! One of my all time favorites. And I love En Man Som Heter Ove, too, but it is hard to watch. I had to pause the movie three or four times because it was so sad in some spots. It is wonderful, but I have to be in just the right mood to watch it.

I have only seen The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I have read the trilogy and loved it! I think that the Swedish version is way better than the American one. I will definitely look for the others! Thank you.

i saw Kopps as i have projected at a theater where i used to work, and i love this movie because is pure swedish, despite the fact that the director and the main character (Josef Fares and Fares Fares, brothers) are immigrants from Lebanon. i recently bought this movie in dvd (no blu ray 😢) and see with my 25 y.o. daughter, that also loved this movie very much. i think that the previous work of the Fares Brothers, "Jalla! Jalla!" is a nice movie. It share, as far i know, the same productor of "Fucking Åmål". "Fucking Åmål" is set in Åmål, but the movie is enterely shot in Trollhättan.

We watched "Sällskapsresan" and "Grabben i graven bredvid" in Swedish class in London... brilliant movies... and I've also seen the TV Series version of the Millennium films - wonderful stuff (and RIP Michael Nyqvist ☹️ )

i also love the saga of "Millennium" (in italy, the first movie are titled "Millennium - uomini che odiano le donne", like the original swedish title): i own the three movies in dvd and blu ray, plus the "apocryphal" "The Girl in the Spider's Web". The American remake, despite the fact that is directed by David Fincher, and despite the fact that is set and shot also in Stockholm and in Sweden, is my personal opinion that the Stockholm and Sweden that we see in the "original" Niels Arden Oplev movie, are more "Stockholm and Sweden" that the ones that we see in the Fincher version. I also own the trilogy in tv longer version.

You didn't mention the movie called something like (or about something like) "Docking the boat". It's a comedy recommend by an old Danish friend of mine 😅 I watched it with my girlfriend without English subtitles so we couldn't understand what they were talking but still a fun movie to watch 😅

"Fucking Åmål" (I've been wanting to be able to remember the name of that movie for a long, long time. So, tusen tack 👏🏻) in my country it was called "Discovering love", it was my favorite teen movie when I was little. I think at the time I watched that movie like three times. And it's one of the movies that made me discover (and love) the Nordic languages, along with "Pelle the Conqueror" (Pelle Erövraren 💚) and some films by Ingmar Bergman. I'm definitely going to look up that movie and watch it again, after all these years. "En man som heter ove" is fantastic!! I love him so much 🤣👏🏻

Ehh Kopps, that is just a terrible terrible movie. And far from everyone has seen it so it kinds of stand out to me. The other ones are tycpicall Swedish movies though and some of them are good. I would maybe add Ondskan, Jägarna and maybe Ronja Rövardotter (it is easy regarding language and a rather good movie even though it is mainly for kids)
