Great video. I can relate to these things. First I think being stuck in a relationship is one way that I stopped socializing outside of the relationship and contributed to being more alone. Meeting new people has helped me see the world differently and realize that I can grow and change. I have been stuck in my ways and routines and falsely assume what I am capable of and my limits. I have done so many things that I thought that I would never do. Mainly watching other groups of people do things like parties, events, concerts, group rides/hikes. I am choosing to be more social with “my people” and am enjoying it. I have come a long way this past 18 months and I have learned to celebrate and savior my growth.

I relate to most of these. For quite a long time, I was in a toxic friendship where the other person stuck me in a cage, not allowing me to change or really be myself - like a flower covered in frost hindering it from blossoming. They then dumped me like a sack of rotten potatoes and I arrived in a very, very dark place. I’ve been trying to work on myself for a while and especially have been trying to raise my self-esteem.

Trying to be perfect. This is something I can relate to. I expect myself to get things right on the first try. And if I don’t, I get so hard on myself. But, I do keep trying the task. I also feel like I should have it all figured out being that I’ve been working on my healing, and I’ve found peace, happiness and joy. So I don’t allow myself to express that I’m sad or anything like that, because I feel like I should have it all figured out. I wonder if perfection can make you limit yourself.

This video made me start crying. Since a few days, weeks... i dont even know anymore- my life ended up in such a depressing state. I used to have quite a good mindset for my age, but it all went away. And it made me so upset that I just let all my negative personality traits take over. I never really had friends in my entire life. I got used to it i guess. I never felt much wanted other than my parents. Only judged, and under pressure of performing good because I wanna show my family that I can archieve anything. My grandparents dont think much of my mum and dad bc they dont work. And since they dont work they keep making me clear that I cant archieve much in my life due to that limiting me. It upsets me so much. Yesterday I wanted to try and go shopping with my mum for school stuff. Im like- in the second week of holidays. And I had a complete mental breakdown in the middle of there because I noticed that im not capeable of doing anything alone. That upset me so much, that I just let that feeling run around and pull me down. I dont even try anymore. I immediantly try and call for help. And it makes me feel so useless bro. I just saw this vid in my recommendations and It pretty much showed me my issues because every 6 points relate to my life. And its horrible. Now im under even more pressure and dont even know where to start and what to start. I grew up always wanting everything to be perfect. No one taught my younger self that its wrong, and I hate it. Now I have to live with it. I just wish i was so dumb that I couldnt realise all my issues. Its killing me so bad dude. And im only 15 bro. wtf. I wanna go to therapy but no ones answearing. Ig its bc of holidays. I want help so bad but now im stuck here, having goals...but just, sitting infront of them and watching all of that burn right infront of my eyes dude. I feel so useless. (No hate to the video tho, thanks. I hope it helps me to do all of this and realise the issue(s) i got)

Hey, I just want to say that you are more emotionally mature than many 15 year old kids. When I was 15 I also couldn't go shopping without my mom either (and was so much more clueless than you are). It's normal, please don't beat yourself up for it. The fact that you realise what issues are present in your life already shows that there is a chance for you to fix them. Right now you might be confused and overwhelmed by the quantity of them. So just take a deep breath and calm yourself before taking the steps to make them better. :) Try writing these problems down and take small steps everyday (eg. doing housework to help your parents, reading or watching more of these educational psychology videos). Remember you are still young and your future is so bright. There is nothing in life that is truly unfixable. Believe in yourself!

I’m a perfectionist. I practice for ridiculous amounts of time to get better which I do become really good but then I suddenly lose my skills & have to relearn my skill, this causes me to get really angry, I can’t stand not being the best & it hurts my mental health that I can’t stay good at anything. Anything that isn’t my best or better is absolutely unacceptable to me, I will never settle for mediocrity a day in my life

I'm glad you mentioned *the sunk cost fallacy* and I'd like to see a whole video about that. I'd heard of it before but don't think I gave it a lot of thought. I suspect I'm guilty of thinking that way, and that it might affect not just my relationships but also clutter, unfinished projects, and maybe other things I'm not aware of! I guess I mostly want some clues to help me be aware of when I'm using that kind of irrational thinking, so I can more easily let go -- AND/OR -- is there a way to tell when _continuing_ to invest time and effort in a project or thing or relationship might bear fruit? Thanks for considering it.

Hey! Ive been watching you for a while and I really apreciate you, I really do. Youve helped me figure out why I feel like this or why I do this, not as a diagnosis but being able to try and ask those questions to my doctor if any of that would be a possible explanation of why im doing it. Its been really hard for me lately, and I dont really have anyone to talk to, so coming to youtube or listening to music is really my only way of feeling not so alone. I dont know if you did a video on this or not, I looked but i could have searched it wrong lol. I was wondering if you could make a video about wanting attention but not wanting attention. Like, sometimes doing things for attention but also other times you hate being noticed, and you hate that you want attention. I have this problem, and a couple of times ive said things that gave me attention because I was feeling alone. It wasnt harmful, just smth like "Oh yeah I did this cool thing" to try and relate with others. But at the same time I hate being the center of attention, it gives me high anxiety and it makes me feel guilty for wanting attention. I dont know if this makes sense, but I hope you know what I mean lol. I hope you all are doing okay, and im sure you do but i hope you all know that work/self balance, you guys deserve a vacation xp

If only I had the ability to change. I've tried to get better at many things but I end up in the same state all of the time. It's so easy to see why I'm taken for granted and lonely; I lack the ability to do anything to help myself. Nobody actually wants to help me either, so I just have to accept the pain and move on. Being alone and somewhat ignorant is something I hate to be but oh well. Getting close friends is just not in the picture and I am very stupid. I'm not cool or interesting so I tend to be the butt of the joke most of the time. I don't deserve any pity, though; I've dug a hole for myself and there's no climbing out. Most I can do is root for those who are better than me. I normally don't feel this bad about myself but recently it's been so tough. I don't know how much longer I can take it all.

Hi I just watched your signs you are an ambivert not an introvert video and I was wondering if you could make a video for signs you are an extrovert not an ambivert because im wondering which one I am and it would be interesting if you made more videos comparing different personality types to extroverts because it would make it more clear how they are different from other personality types like ambiverts/shy extroverts.

I'm trying to change, but my parents don't believe in me. Because of having autism and TBI, they don't see me as being much further beyond being 13 years old mentally, which is ridiculous compared to my real age of 39. I'm trying to change, but they don't want me to and have started using guilt trips of how much they have done and given up for my sake.

Perfectionism stems from comparing ourselves from others all the time. Everyone has their own time for success you are never left behind...you will get there where you are meant to be...
@Psych2go
@Psych2go Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your insight. It's so easy to be impressed or swept up by other people's accomplishments that we end up comparing ourselves to them, which makes us feel jealous or even depressed at our own lack of progress. However, we must understand that our own journey can be just as impressive if we stop comparing ourselves and honor the pace at which we're approacing our own goals.

Tell that to my skill regression. I get so good and then suddenly my skill goes away and I have to relearn it all. I’m sick of it and I would sell my soul to have it stop. I should be better than almost everyone I practice close to constantly. This skill regression really hurts my mental health because I pretty much can’t be good at anything. I hate myself, I get so angry at my pathetic underperformance cus I lose my skill suddenly, I even harm myself sometimes cus I get so mad at it & I really hate people who are better than me at things. What pisses me off even more is no one understands this whole sudden skill loss/skill regression thing because it only happens to me, they think I’m crazy. I can never find an explanation and solution to this bs anywhere. You can go research this but I’ll assure you, you’ll find nothing but inaccurate results & irrelevant information. I believe it’s a curse Everyone will probably ignore this

@@MirageATrois you're not alone in this, this happens to many people including me. It may be a curse but take it as you get another chance to get more better at it. Maybe this time you will be better than most people. Learn again and again as long as you are alive...

2# is something that I need to work on because my ex BFF keeps trying to reconnect with me even if she is really rude to me just because our bully in school tells her to. Idc if she is being manipulated or something but a better friend would stand up for me instead of being horrible too. I don’t want to dump her bc she is really kind and has been my best friend for 5yrs. This has been causing me to cry every evening because of stress. I am worried if my friend is ok + angry that she could be mean to her bestie just like that. I have tried talking t o my bully but she always says something rude to me. She is only being mean to ME. And none of my friends. She is perfectly kind to all of them making me feel excluded. What should I do?
