Lucas didn't want Ford for Indiana Jones either for the same reason. Although he had even more reason now that Ford was Han Solo. Spielberg wanted Ford and Lucas finally agreed after Selleck backed out. Imagine a world where Lucas was more stubborn and Ford doesn't play either character.

Kyber crystals don't "power all" lightsabers. There are tons of other types of crystals that can do the same thing as Kyber crystals. Which is another thing. The crystal doesnt power the lightsaber, it focuses the plasma beam when it comes out of the emitter. They're powered by a micro-fusion battery pack, or large wearable battery packs in the case of the ancient first generations of lightsabers.

Maybe Lucas didn’t want Harrison Ford because he wasn’t a great actor. Even now he’s not a great actor. He is very charismatic and a charming lead but he isn’t known for great performances
