The white curly tail grub is sometimes the ticket. Other times it's yellow or chartreuse. The most valuable thing I've learned about fishing is you dont always have to stick to the public opinion norms for baits for certain fish. Pond catfish especially will go for many different moving baits

Hi Bud, I was wondering what them night crawlers were then relised they were what we in the UK call worms, Anyway if you want to catch more worms in your garden what i do is use a watering can with a bit of washing up liquid in, the stuff you use for the dishes, They dont like it in the soil so will come to the surface. Great video. Take care Ken.

Sounded like you had a gear out of alignment in that reel, worth taking apart to see but usually the gears are zinc castings so aren't the most durable of things. Just had to replace my heavy lure setup because the bearings have started to grind in the reel after too many dips in the sea and not enough preventative maintenance (the bearing kits for that model are more than a brand new reel so I'll just keep that one for salt after dipping the bearings etc and the new one for fresh) and the first fish of the year snapped the tip off my nice rod while landing it, gotta love pike fishing man.

Unfortunately, these fish destroy the aquatic ecosystem. It's sad because it's not the fish's fault that they are here. The good news is, many environments are showing signs of adaptation to these fish. Some studies that I've read indicate that larger predatory fish (I.E. blue catfish) PREFER the asian carp species to other prey. These fish reproduce very quickly, and in large numbers. I've seen shoals of asian carp fry that I initially thought were shad. If fish begin preying on asian carp as if they are shad, then that will mean local species could potentially adapt and get bigger, and bigger, and bigger.
