I would love to know why 26 people rated this video a thumbs down. It's not offensive, has nothing to do with politics, sex or religion, it's just some footage of earth moving equipment. I thought it was interesting.

Pretentious operator snobs. The eternal "Operator vs Driver" debate, "I wouldn't hire [said op in video] if I were the boss..." dialogue. I operate them and I agree with you. :)
@RangieNZ12 жыл бұрын
You need to do a time-lapse/sped up video (taken over say a day), for one of the big scraper jobs like that. It's difficult to visualise how much of the hill is being moved.

We do just in southern california and other places they have them non-enclosed for a reason I do not know but amaerica usually uses enclosed cabed dozers

I started in 1966, I was just 17 when I begin" I retired when I was 50, knees back neck arms gut & prostate issues: eye sight" other wise it was great while it lasted: Operated, but had gone through the Army Engineers; to be a Mechanic' There after the Army on the G I bill I did a year in electrical Mechanical Drafting" The deal with was in understanding the cat schematic's, as well the the foreign stuff: 9-U cats' & cat didn't make a back hoe back in the day" the 8 speed wasn't an 8 speed in the beginning:" The 769 was a monster truck" The 641 A was competing with Euclid: when the 651 showed up we thought It doesn't get any better then this" Then There was the 666" made my living working on that machine: Worked on the first D 10 demo to hit Southern CA. stayed with that vary cat till it was cut up for scrap: When I head it was going to go to the cutter's I was a tad T O about it: I made my case against doing it: after all Cat spent big bucks to keep that one cat going with updates to it's design: Then there was the first line production D-11 we took on from a Coal mining company: used it up on Canyon lake to rip rock, worked great after the engine was R&R; I put that together: The Holland loaders, what a night mare that is when it gets messed up: stay fit" Running scarpers is OK when the fill & haul roads can be maintained: as for the cut; just depends: most of the time it's rough going: I check out what is going on from time to time" Sticking with it is no walk in the park" it's fest & famine in that business: It best to have an alternative skill's, line of work when things get slow or dry up for a time: it's not for everyone" even those who are good hands don't always hang in there: I noted Southern CA is always doing Video of the Cats; & Can's But here is the deal" None of that junk can stay in the dirt all on it's own: It requires HDR men / & welders; fuele'rs oile'rs' parts, lots of parts; trans ports; rails for the cats tires for the rubber tired Iron: it's all over the board' The real ball busting is working on the iron to keep it in the dirt; or in other words the operator in his seat" & all that supports the job: Those line of scarpers would be dead in there tracks at the end of the day with out the required heavy support that is required to keep them up every day" big bucks: massive amount of money . Men who know how it all works" I take it to task who ever is doing the Video's your short changing those who actually make it all happen: I seen years of this same song & dance' It's time you get down to where it is they who work on this yellow Iron" yellow before it went dirt brown:

lindo demais o trabalho dessas máquinas: na minha infância vi muito essas máquinas trabalhando, tive a oportunidade de trabalhar em uma empresa de construção de estradas como lubrificante e tive o privilégio de dirigir uma máquina dessas, inclusive carreguei um pouco o basculante dela é derramei, cá pra nós eu levava jeito, mais infelizmente tive que sair da empresa por motivos familiares e não realizei meu sonho de ser operador de máquinas pesadas

Thanks for the info, do the young ones take your info to heart or is it the typical, "I'm young and there are new rigs so it won't happen to me"

@eastcoastriots It's for cutting slopes.

Eventually it does take a toll on your body, being tossed around in the seat, this type of work operating a scraper you have to be young, strong and physically fit. For myself my kidney gave me allot pain, even when I wore a kidney belt. That was back in 1975, I'm 56 yrs, old, now, I just drive a pick-up truck and go around and check & inspect projects, encouraging the younger operators about taking care of the body, and work with common sense!

@avkmero11 жыл бұрын
turn the rad fans backwards and tarp yourself in with an open cab thats what we do in canada nice and warm you can do it till about -20
@gordbaker8967 жыл бұрын
Turning a rad fan backwards won't help. it still blows the same way.

I never under stood why a mine uses excavators to load material and we still use back breaking scrapers you wood think the mines have the fastest way
@mikemcinnis127 жыл бұрын
because those excavators are huge and don't really move very far / cant really be moved from one location to the next
@blainekopp89889 жыл бұрын
that is stepp stuff so man can you do?? i dont think so but it has to built for others to enjoy,

Wouldn't it have been easier and faster to just bulldoze that hill down? Just asking.
