This is a 1967 Ford Thunderbird with a 390 fe big block C6 and Ford 9 inch it’s been sitting for who knows how many years judging by the fuel system brakes it’s got to be at least 20 or 30 years Watch just bring it back to life.

When I was stationed at Ft. Polk, Louisiana, I bought a 1971 Thunderbird. It was almost the same body style as yours. The taillights didn't have the bottom row and the turn signals blinked sequentially. The front grill was poked out in the center. It also had a high performance 429 engine in it. I loved that old car. Sure miss it. That was back in 1984.

Those were very cool land yachts. About 20 years ago I pulled a '70 4 door T-Bird out of a barn because I wanted the 429 engine for another project. Engine needed a total rebuild and the body was completely rusted but the interior was beautiful. @@Sleeperdude you can have the 390 rebuilt and make it a 428. A 390 and a 428 are both FE engines. You could even get a set of aluminum Cobra Jet gears for it and make it a Cobra-bird. That'll haul ass when you're on the gas.

Enjoyed the video! My roommate at College had the exact T-bird. I transferred up to a School up in Northern Michigan in March of 1981. I was hitchhiking to my first class in a blizzard, and heard this rumbling coming down the road through the heavy snow. This same colored Bird comes rolling down the road and stops to pick me up. I couldn't believe that beast of a car was pushing its way through that snow. I shake myself off and jump into the front seat. He says to me, "what in the Hell are you doing out here?" I tell him about going to my first class, and not having a car..blah blah blah I guess I sounded funny because I'm from New Jersey, because his response was "where in the Hell are you from?!" We both laughed and he ended up being my roommate for the next four years up there! We kept that T-bird running all through College, and took many road trips with her too. Looking forward to more awesome videos

Yep, the wipers ARE operated from the power steering pump. The "tilt wheel" is adjusted from the turn signal switch (push it towards the dash) and you can adjust the wheel. Last time I checked there were 2 Lincoln parts and repair specialists. One was in Florida (Lincoln Land, I believe) and the other I think is in Mass. BOTH have an excellent supply of parts, manuals and will help with troubleshooting. The front calipers PROBABLY are the same as the Lincolns, so I would give them a try. Good luck and keep on posting your progress.

Well "Sleeperdude" I have watched a good many first starts on just about any engine imaginable and straight off, you have caught my interest solid ten. You are going way above most to do things the right way. In all my years of twisting wrenches as a mechanic in logging camps across the islands of southern alaska's logging camps and as a kid fixing cars and mostly trucks as in big diesel engines, I find myself struggling on the names of different parts and pieces. Like the name of the thread repairs kits where you run the new threads in out of a helical coil... a little coil of metal that threads into a hole where there were threads and so after you replace them with that metal coil of very thin steel and it fits down into the part that you are repairing so that the plug is now tight. It would work in that oil pan so it don't leak no more. Now to be truthful, that engine should not be running as its all jellied up on the inside of the water jackets and the manifolds are sad to say the least. Your going to make your mark in mechanicing.... you have with me already and I twisted on them for most of fifty years minus military and dippers ...... you got it down well. I don't know if you know this one or not as he is strictly comedy but he is funny and you might enjoy.... Puddins fab shop. Him, and Brent at Halfass Kustoms then you are the dynamic three

@@Sleeperdude oh another aside I remember with this car. I was about 4 at the time, my father and mother borrowed the car and took us to a drive in movie theater. I grew concerned when it started raining because of some rumor that the thunderbird wouldn't start if it was raining. My dad being a mechanic laughed it off. I remembered this chapter in my life because you shot 50 gallons of water at the engine.

That's such a unique body style that it deserves a body off frame restoration, sort of like Jay Leno does with his car collection. But of course I know what everyone is thinking - who among us has his kind of money? It does bring back memories of driving that exact model from New York to California on a family vacation in 1967 though. As I recall, it only got 10 - 12 miles per gallon. But then gasoline was only about 30 cents a gallon in those days. You could actually pull into a gas station and say, "give me a dollar's worth" and get enough fuel to get somewhere.

I always liked the older Thunderbirds. I'd never seen THESE ones and now I'm hooked on THESE ad well!. I love the quilted design of the seats - (although of course, NOT the DAMAGE caused by the "residents!". Then I noticed that unlike most of such shapely cars, it's actually a FOUR door car! And correspondingly, it therefore, it has FOUR door handles! The significance of this is that the door handles are specially positioned along the right part of the car's sculpted shape to emphasize it! What a masterpiece this car is! I'm now DEFINATELY a fan! Been falling for Thunderbird's since I purchased my first one. A 97 (bought it in 2008). On my second cause some nice guy did a U-turn off the curb. no blinker no warning. Now I have a 96 t-bird and it's been a blast to own. The 67-69 T-bird is by far my favorite year. It's my bucket list car!
