The number one question I get asked all the time as a professional sprinter is: how do i get faster? My usual response is that I am not a coach so unfortunately I can't give technical advice and you'd be better off finding a good local track club in your area who can help you specifically.
Instead of repeating this over and over, I decided to make a video with 6ix running tips that I used myself or wish I used when I started running that will you help you get faster when you're beginning!

i had my first practice today and felt really discouraged when i saw everyone else was passing me when we were doing sprints :/ so i didn’t do well but i’m trying to stay optimistic because maybe i can get better. thanks for the great advice!

I know it's easy to get caught up in what other people are doing around you, but try to focus on yourself especially at practice. We all get better at our own pace so try to remember that! If you are getting better and running faster than the day before, that's a win for you! Stay positive and focus on bettering yourself first, you'll be much happier and want to continue working hard! You got this!

a tip : you can watch series on flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.

A story for you: I'm overweight and my first day I could hardly run maybe 10-15 ft without getting very tired. We had to run a mile, and I only ran probably less than ⅛ of that mile. My second day I ran about ⅙ of a mile with determination and spite. Here's what I did: I set goals for myself. I ran from one pole to maybe the stop sign which was about 15-20 ft or a bit more. Then i would stop, stretch, walk a bit, and then do it all over again. I'm 14 and I weigh 220 lbs, you just have to pace yourself and not force it. Also, dont expect immediate improvement, it takes time😊😊 get it love!

I am going to try track and field at my highschool for the first time. I am very nervous because I don't want to be the slowest. However, now I know that I should have fun and don't worry about beating everyone.

I’m a freshman and this is my first year, so far practice has been going fine. Sometimes it’s a little discouraging when I see so many people faster than me but I remember they’re also older and have been doing this longer than me

Exactly right. As long as you improve yourself, you should be happy with your progress. Eventually you’ll get there yourself

I’m going out for track for freshman year this spring. I have only had middle school track meets once a year. I won my last 400 which is giving me the motivation to keep going. My older brother is helping me the best he can. I am so excited and nervous but all the work is gonna be worth it. Time to show them what this girl can do . 😂

@@helenakiannejad4761 honestly when I first started seeing how good everyone around me was, I got very demotivated. You need to remember that they have been doing it for longer than you. You need to put in the work to see the progress. Workout and run off season, it really helps. I recommend keeping track of your times every meet to see how you improved over the season. You got this! I believe in you. Find someone faster than you and make it your goal to beat them. And make sure to take care of yourself mentally and physically. The sport is really taxing in both. Shin splints are not fun. You got this, and remember to have fun! Meet some new people. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

@@valeriie.04 I have actually! Currently 16 and already finished track, I've lost weight (not a lot, but some) and I can run for a lot longer than before. It just takes time and patience. You got this!!

I use to run track and cross country in middle school and high school. I’ve since gained 60 pounds and am starting college in six months. I want to join the track team so I’m starting my weight loss journey so I can get in shape to make it on the team. Thank you for these tips I will apply them once I get my weight down

I've always been to scared to do track even though I like running. Not in the best shape but I refuse to let this opportunity pass me by- I'll train my entire junior year by running on my own then in senior year I'll try out. I'm really optimistic!!!

@@azcix I’ve been running for over a year now!! I’ve added weights to my workout and I don’t go as hard when I run nowadays, but I can go for 40mins straight :) I ended up not trying out for the team since my schedule is so full :( but I still really enjoy running and I have so much stamina now!!!

My daughter just told me she wants to join track in high school. These are great tips I can show her so she has an edge and hopefully she will start practicing in the off season. I was a track star so I know what it takes but I also don’t want to push her so hard that she doesn’t even want to do it anymore.

I’m doing track in the spring and I hope I make it Into varsity I’ve been training for this since I started running in 3rd grade I’ve been training my calves and eating the right stuff currently I’m in freshman year in high school now never done track but the head coach thinks I can be very fast he’s seen me be fast and I hope I get that spot for varsity and if not I’ll work hard and try to go for it next year there’s always time to improve my workouts this is my first video of watching you and you encouraged me now to start practicing more harder and try to achieve my goals I have for track thanks bro 💯💯

Thank you. I will show this to my daughter. She had her first track meet ever, and she was discouraged immediately. She was brave and went through it till the end. She was depressed after being last at the end. Your video is encouraging,hopeful and inspirational.

great advice, i start doing track and field at a private school with all boys, and i am a girl, but i have never practiced track and field in my life. my first time stepping foot on the track running the 100m dash, i was 15.3 seconds, i feel like i am gonna fail, and be the slowest, but i am gonna try my best. amazing video!!

Doing the 1 and 2 mile (maybe 800m) i can run distance at a slow pace but we did simple 6 x 400m and it was TOUGH, especially because im the only distance runner wt my school lol. Cant wait for the next one lol🔥

First practice starts tomorrow! I'm extremely nervous. 😬I've practice the past few days but it's really cold here and missouri and my lungs and ears hurt from it. I'm in 8th grade and haven't run track before. I also have shin splints, runners knee, and a pulled hamstring. Wish me luck!

I'm going to be helping a girl who is just starting track this year. I've been in track for about 4-5 years now, which is one of the reasons why I'm helping her (that and her and my mum are friends). I haven't been in amazing shape and my allergies really set me back. We meet this weekend. This video really helped and inspired me, and I think it will do the same to her.

Thank you for this advice. I have a granddaughter that runs track. She's going to be a Senior in the fall an She's good. She was having problems coming out of the block. She runs the 100, 200, an 4x4 relay team. Don't have much advice at her school, need a few more track coaches. Need advice?

I’ve never done track before, the most experience I have with running was soccer and I stopped a year ago. I’m going into my freshman year now and I was planning on getting a trainer to condition in the fall season. I guess we’ll see how it goes 🤷🏽‍♀️

Never ran track in my life until this year I just had this random urge to do it. Long distance is where my jam is. I suck at sprinting as mainly everyone has had prior experience in running for track while I'm new.

Thank you for posting this video! I’m in 8th grade and I haven’t joined the athletics team at my school until now, so I didn’t know a lot a month ago. I’m trying out for basketball on Wednesday and I’m already doing track. But I always get tired the fastest and I’m the slowest runner there. I also get a lot of side stomach pains, I don’t know if it’s normal or not so do you have any other tips?

I did track in 6th-7th but I didn’t get to do it last year because of corona but I have asthma all you have to do is practice working on your breathing While you run I do hurdles so I sometimes got out of breath mid air they’ll probably teach you how to stuff

Today were my try outs, this is my first time running track. We ran 100meters and I got a time of 18.25, and then we ran the 400 meters. Halfway through the lap my legs felt heavy and my hands as well, and when I finished I was breathing so fast and my feet were hurting so much. I really need tips🙏

One tip I have when you are in a track meet is to set your expectations low, Make it your Goal to get 2nd to last or somewhere near the bottom not anywhere near the top if you just started

I had asthma when I was younger and I know many athletes that still do. You can definitely overcome it. Have your inhaler near by just in case of emergency but overall don't let it hold you back. Good luck!

Watch what you eat before you run and try to give yourself more time between running and eating your meals. Try snacking and eating light foods instead

Love to see it! Best advice is just to enjoy it and not put any limits or expectations on yourself. Don’t worry about what others are able to accomplish, just challenge and push yourself each day and watch yourself get better each time out
