7'3 16-year-old French player Victor Wembanyama vs. 7'1 Rudy Gobert. Victor Wembanyama was playing a 2-on-2 game with Utah Jazz center 7'1 Rudy Gobert and Vincent Poirier Athlète. Victor Wembanyama is 7-foot-3 with nearly an 8-foot wingspan, and he can do it all. 16-year-old phenom Victor Wembanyama and two-time NBA Defensive Player Of The Year Rudy Gobert going at it during 2-on-2 in France. The San Antonio Spurs get the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA draft, and will they be taking 7'3 Victor Wembanyama as their No.1 pick in 2023 NBA Draft?
Victor Wembanyama's skill level, agility and incredible length are on full display. Arguably the best prospect in the world regardless of age. On 30 June 2022, Victor Wembanyama signed a two-year contract with Metropolitans 92 of the Pro A. Victor Wembanyama is widely considered the favorite to become the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft. In the game between Metropolitans 92 team and the G League Ignite, Victor Wembanyama had 37 points, 5 blocks on 11-20 shooting from the field and 7-11 3-Pointers whereas Scoot Henderson had 28 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds.
► Victor Wembanyama was born in Le Chesnay, France. Since he was 4 or 5 years old, Victor Wembanyama was coached in basketball by his mother, who had played the sport. He began his career at his local club, Entente Le Chesnay Versailles, and joined the youth system of Nanterre 92 at age ten. On 29 June 2021, Victor Wembanyama signed a three-year contract with ASVEL of the Pro A and the EuroLeague. On 30 June 2022, Victor Wembanyama signed a two-year contract with Metropolitans 92 of the Pro A in France.
► Rudy Gobert-Bourgarel (born June 26, 1992) is a French professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also represents the French national basketball team in their international competitions. Standing at 7 ft 1 in (2.16 m) tall with a wingspan of 7 ft 9 in (2.36 m) long, he plays the center position. He was the NBA blocks leader in the 2016-17 season. In 2018 and 2019, he won back-to-back NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards, making him one of only ten players in NBA history who have won that honor at least twice.
Rudy Gobert declared for the 2013 NBA draft and set NBA Draft Combine records for wingspan (7 feet 8½ inches) and standing reach (9 feet 7 inches) in the 2013 combine. These dimensions earned him the nickname "The Stifle Tower." The record for wingspan was broken a year later by Walter Tavares. On June 27, 2013, Gobert was selected with the 27th overall pick by the Denver Nuggets. He was later traded on draft night to the Utah Jazz.
On October 31, 2016, Gobert signed a four-year, $102 million contract extension with the Jazz, which at the time made him the best paid French athlete ever (in terms of salary per year).
In 2019, Gobert shattered the single-season record for slam dunks with 306. That year, Gobert also led the NBA in screen assists, with 482, effective field goal percentage, with 66.9 percent, and true shooting percentage, at 68.2 percent.
Through his first 45 games in the 2019-20 season, Gobert averaged 15.7 points and 14.6 rebounds per game and had become an anchor for the Jazz on offense as well as defense. On January 30, 2020, Gobert, alongside teammate Donovan Mitchell, was named a Western Conference reserve for the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.
Gobert won the bronze medal at the 2011 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship and the silver medal at the 2012 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. In the 2012 edition, Gobert was named to the All-Tournament team alongside countryman, Léo Westermann.
Gobert was called by head coach Vincent Collet to help the senior French national team prepare for the 2012 Summer Olympics tournament. He played two friendly games, scoring 8 points. He was part of the team that won the bronze medal at the 2014 FIBA World Cup, where he averaged 4.1 points per game.
In 2015, he helped France to bronze at the EuroBasket 2015, averaging 10.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots during the tournament, while receiving All-European Championships Second Team distinction's from the website Eurobasket.com.
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Gobert played in five games for France, tallying 5.7 points, as well as 7.2 boards and 1.8 blocks per outing. He also won the bronze medal with France at the 2019 FIBA World Cup, where he averaged 10.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game.

They’re 7 feet tall at a 10 foot hoop. It’s like a 6 foot tall guy playing on a 8.5 hoop. If a 6 footer plays on a 10 foot hoop then a 7 footer would have to play on a 11.5 foot hoop to be the same perspective. If they raised the rim by 1.5 feet while they played it wouldn’t look like this at all. This is why basketball is fucking stupid because as long as you’re tall you’re already better then ppl. This is also why soccer is the best sport, you actually have to have skill to play and not just be tall like basketball. This is also why you never see tall ppl play soccer, they’re slow and uncoordinated

@@OregonGrower420 That is not completely true. Tall athletic guys can be good at defense plus corner shots, playing on the second floor in soccer. Height is important for goalkeeper as well. In basketball you need some smaller fast guys for entertaining and efficiency. But mostly yes, for volleyball and basketball height is a huge advantage. 6'3 - 6'6 guys are considered small :) In general professional sport was never fair, it is pushing human body limits, so it is uses any possible advantage, height is the easiest one. Why waste time training small guy for months to jump high when you can take 190+cm ordinary athlets for the same jumping efficiency after 2 weeks of training. Me personally do not like soccer because 22 people can run 1.5 hours and have 0:0 scores at the end :))) 1 lucky penalty / corner shot can win the game. Plus "possum style" to play dead after lightest touch to get penalty/yellow/red card. Plus referees can not see what is happening on the field properly - when players are biting each other or some other other stupid things are happening. Red cards for nothing or missing fouls.

Gobert is toying with this kid but i love the form on his shot and the touch! He has a real shot to be special.... You can't teach height and obviously he has natural skills and athletic ability, but someone has been working with him on his shooting form and it's nice. Would like to see him at the free throw line.

Most people can dunk on a ring at 6'1 - 6'3 with some good athletisisim. Most people over complicate all this vertical jump stuff. You just got to train according to your body type and you'll see results.
