Jenn, I love how your eyes light up when you talk about books. And I can tell in the second half of the video that you were able to unwind a bit and venture a little more off memorized or prepared material (I get it, it was sponsored content). Brave New World is one of my favorites! I'm reading The Genius and the Goddess by Huxley right now. It's such a tough read. He's such a Renaissance man sprinkling references to other subjects left and right. I hope to get as good as you are with book analysis and note taking during this read!

I just finished Girl in Translation! Loved it so much. It's about an immigrant Chinese girl moving with her mom to New York and the struggles with integrating into new culture. Highly recommend.

Jenn, I highly recommend “The Other Side of the Couch: A Psychiatrist Solves His Most Unusual Case”. It was previously titled, “The Naked Lady Who Stood on Her Head”. It’s so interesting to get a behind the scenes look at a psychologist’s experience during therapy and what his thoughts and feelings were throughout. Plus the ways he helps his patients. Fascinating book if you love psychology and mental health.

I am American and didn’t really know much of the Vietnam War and that could be to so many different reasons and the first is being young and not caring about history BUT... if you haven’t watched it yet Jenn watch the Ken Burns Vietnam War Documentary. My husband was watching it and I couldn’t stop watching. Let me warn you and say it is SO LONG. Like 18 hours long but you learn so much about so many points of view in the war. Heavy watch but it really is a brilliant one. Thanks for all the recommendations!!! ❤️

I read The Best We Could Do, last year in my university class and I absolutely loved it! I agree it was very eye opening and it made me reflect my life as I have immigrant parents. Thanks for the recs

Love when you talk about books! You can see the sparkle in your eyes on how much you enjoy it!! I'm currently reading The Lazy Genius Way by Kendra Adachi (she has helped my life so much with all her tips at making life easier). Her first rule Decide Once is always the best one to start with. Some books I read this year that I think you might enjoy: Miracle Creek by Angie Kim(so intense from the get go and then you are put in the middle of a court trial. So much to say but can't as its better to go into this book blind) , The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide(sweet, quiet but with a lot of heart/hopefulness you might not have expected), and The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa (touching and about the beauty of human connection).

Before the coffee gets cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi - fun premise about a seat that can return you to the past, but the story is centered around strong human connections. I cried quite a bit! Also a quick read 😊

I love love love BOTM!!! I've been getting my books from them for like the past 2 years... I don't go to the library that often anymore (no thanks to covid) but this gives me the feel of a library... My favs from them so far are 'The Gifted School' ' A Good Neighborhood' and 'Happy & You Know It'

I just read a book called my dark Vanessa. It's about a child that has a relationship with her teacher and didn't realize it was sexual assault. It is a very tough book to read but I recommend it.

A little late to this video, but “Amusing Ourselves To Death” is a book that we had to read for one of my communications classes. It was such a game changer for me I still go back and read it every now and then :)
