I’m 75, 3 years I was diagnosed diabetic. Changed eating habits, begin walking routine. During winter, when unable to walk outdoors because of weather, I tend to get constipated. A 30 minute brisk walk solves my problem. Sometimes, I can barely make it home before bowel movement. Find I enjoy walking and it is good for me. I have a treadmill but get bored with it.

It is a misspelled word and should have been spelled Castor oil. Castor oil comes from the Castor bean. My fingers hit the keyboard while my mind was in a fog or somewhere else. I am 86 and sometimes I wander off. Not as bad as the idiot in the White House but stuff happens. Give me a break Chimstembo.

Having suffered from chronic constipation for decades, I finally came up with a solution that helped me the most. Not fruit (though that helps) but making sure my stomach is acidic enough to digest food properly. For this I use just one tablet of betraine HCL a day, apple cider vinegar, vitamin C and cod liver oil. A broad spectrum of digestive enzymes may also be of use to people to aid motility.

The information is not bad. I had constipation often in my younger days and used to take medication. Later I stopped all this in my life from my diet. Daily meals having proteins was also accompanied with vegetables and then a fruit. If any time I had constipation problems then first thing in the morning I drank 1 or 2 glasses of hot water. By after breakfast I had my motion. This has solved my problem now for the past so many years.

@@annebenn353 They did work for me for a while but my body just seemed to get used to them and they stopped working. Possibly because the underlying cause was not being addressed, i.e low stomach acid which gets worse the older you get. I'm in my 70s.

Don't know if it's just me but just the smell of a fresh orange in the morning will send me to the bathroom, bread was binding me up, I cut way back on bread and I go regular couple times a day, I eat avocados almost daily, that probably helps also plus plenty of peas, turnip greens, green beans etc. works for me.

I eat lots of fruit, particularly bananas and soft fruit. As someone pointed out, soft fruit is ridiculously expensive, but it's less so if you buy it frozen. I have never found prunes make a scrap of difference, but dates are great! And the best thing is, you can make sugar-free cake with them, they are so sweet. But at the end of the day, the original problem never really goes away.

What about the pesticides and fungusides that are sprayed on the berries? Everyone says eat more berries but they say nothing about the sprays on the berries or the best way to wash off these very harmful chemicals.

@johngardener1156 It's best to buy organic berries. I keep them in the freezer to avoid mold, then take a handful each morning, rub them between my hands under hot running water to clean and start thawing, then put them on my cereal.

It seems there is no control in the food chain everything is full with chemical and on top of it our prescripted medication all have side effects. No wonder people are getting sick with cancer especially brain tumours than ever before. The producer making a fortune and therefore their shareholders so why care. The rich can afford private clinics and can get the best care but the rest of us getting poisoned every day one way or other.

Try frozen organic berries...that may be cheaper than fresh. You can never wash out the pesticides completely. Fruit is porous and you can't get out pesticides that have been absorbed into the pores of the fruit. It's inside...just like you can't wash off something inside your pores. Of course, you can try to wash off surface pesticides...and hope to get the benefits from the fruits...hoping the benefit overrides the chemicals. And/or you can try soaking your fruits in vinegar and baking soda. Will that penetrate the pores to lift out any chemicals? I suppose it's anyone's guess. Good luck.

Walnuts and almonds are very good for me. Banana in the other hand is not helpful; Coffee is great but I stopped consuming it due to lack of iron and calcium. Nuts are doing a great job though.

Skip the list and go right to hot peppers. Yes, peppers are technically a fruit vs a vegetable. 69 yo ingesting the equivalent of 4 habaneros or more daily. You can set your watch (almost) to printing the "first edition" (as my Dad called it). 7 am give or take 30 minutes. Good to go. You MUST hydrate! Some activity also helps. Most every morning I have hot peppers in my breakfast. Almost guaranteed if I haven't taken care of business before, I'll be fine shortly after breakfast. Gets thins moving. Also very good for you in other ways too. Hot peppers = build up remover for people!

@@riverflow8186 The problem with GMO is that they are bred for their yield and sweetness. Blueberries is a good example. They used to be very small but now they are much bigger and sweeter and so their beneficial health properties (fibre and polyphenols) are reduced while fructose(sugar) is increased.

We are not medical students to go through all those elaborate things in the fruits etc it is boring indeed So I suggest that you stick to the point and first give the list of those food items and give a very short note on each food item before eleanorsting the minerals enzymes Tay the food contains etc Otherwise people will be bored and give up listening to your long lectures

You don't need fruit to clean your colon. Wanna know a better way, what ever is your favorite food, put Alot of hot sauce on your food and just wait and then when it's time too poop every thing will come out. Not only is that good advise, but it would help break down anything else in your stomach that's stuck in there. Plus your own stomach acid really breaks down things.
