Just got a Wii U, and like it a little better than the switch, as I’m more of a retro gamer and my kids just love, Wii games as well. But what screen protectors do I use so that it won’t interrupt game play? I’m also not sure what the best controller is for playing older nes/snes/N64 games.

Now that you mention it, I've actually played through the majority Metroid Prime 3: Corruption using just the Sensor Bar on the Wii U Gamepad. Very handy feature when you want to play Wii games, but don't have access to a TV.

Best thing you can get is the charging dock if you don't have one. Playing Wii games via the tablet is actually a fantastic way to revisit old titles. Sure the screen is small but it's big enough and the 480p display makes Wii titles look fantastic. I mainly play older games, the Wii U is still my go to console. It's a shame it has such a bad rep, yea the sales figures were abysmal but the Wii U itself is a really unique console with a shit ton of features.

If you have a wiimote and are considering the rechargable battery's, but are worried about the syncing, you can press one and two silmuntaneously to bypass the reset button.

Love my Wii U so much I have one i got just for VWii Homebrew besides my original with all my old Wii and Wii U downloads. P.S. Nintendont support for Wii U wireless controller works on Wii also. I believe you can even use a hyperkin procube controller. Gamecube rocks on that thing. I like Bonk and Adventure Island from the Hudson Select series. No freeloader needed or gamecube compatibility.

Watched the 15 ways to upgrade or enhance the wiiu. You are so close to making it become a nintendo 2ds xxl. Just use the battery power main unit of the wiiu with the screen that has the joy cons on it and the gamepad together to make the 2ds xxl.

Someone else mentioned that earlier. That is a really good idea. Get a smaller monitor with the Wii U gamepad at the bottom and a 1080p small monitor on top hinged onto the gamepad. I am really tempted to try that out. Thanks for sharing these thoughts as many ideas come from viewers which is great :-) Keep them coming!!!!

Wii u is a good console, it just didn't get many sales. It is probably the most underrated console ever. Nintendo did do a good job with it, don't be rude about it. It is not weird, childish or dumb. If you have one and you like it, don't sell it. Don't let people be rude to you if you have one. I still have mine, my friend wants one, and my other friend has one. Me and my friend that has one, we play Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon. The Wii u has many games, most of them are very good. I don't understand why people think it is bad, while it is very good. Although it doesn't have Fortnite or GTA. Call of duty Black Ops 2 is on it but I don't think it has any more Call Of Duty games. You can add up to 100 friends and it used to have miiverse (Miiverse shut down now) and you can add Nintendo Switch friends to it. The internet browser is on the Wii U which allows you to watch KZfaq. Thank You for reading. Plz subscribe to me!!

There are batteries that are 2-3 times bigger then the one in the gamepad that act as replacements so there's nothing on the outside

I literally can’t find that charge dock for sale anywhere on the internet. Even ebay doesn’t have it used. There’s another similar one available though with a bad design having the wiimotes in the front instead of the back thus blocking the gamepad. If anybody knows where to get one please comment.

I just thought of something. What if you had the Wii U in a backpack with a Wireless HDMI sender connected to the Wii U console with a power bank to power the console, and an extra screen on the Gamepad that had a wireless HDMI reciever, basically you would have a portable Wii U that could play both off tv games AND tv only games

I don't think that would be a good idea. If you want to take your Wii U gamepad and console on the go, there shouldn't be problem with sticking to off-TV games. There are plenty of them. You can just save games that require the TV for when you're at home. Not that you should take your Wii U on the go that often anyway... it's still not nearly as portable as the 3DS or Switch.

Marlon Morales Well even then, Splatoon 1 is difficult to play without a second screen. Plus you need an internet connection (which you won't always have on the go) to get the best out of Splatoon (unless you haven't done the singleplayer yet).
