By Performance I meant QUALITY/ GRAPHICS. Performance is often at 60 FPS but QUALITY/ GRAPHICS is 30 FPS on Series S...OFTEN!

You people are missing the point of the series s. Its an entry level next gen system. I love mine. If you want a pc then get one . Nobody cares what you play on because it doesn't matter. If you have fun its all that matters.

The storage upgrade I really think should not be a reason in most cases, It's a digital console, you just delete games you are not playing and download what you want to play for the next week or so, I have mine for some time now, and never have passed of 75% of storage utilization, and I do not own any external storage or expansion card right now, because I keep only the games I will be playing for the next few weeks. You just need to manage what you're going to play, and if you like only massive games, you would buy the expansion storage anyway.

I bought the Series S well over a year ago now due to lack of availability for the Series X and have been pleasantly surprised with it. In fact the X has been available here and there and yet I held off on “upgrading” to the X and continue to game primarily with my S. Yeah the internal SSD is lacking but there’s inexpensive options for that. I’d say keep your expectations low and you may possibly pleasantly surprised too

Although I play on PC only, I think it's a good thing that the Series S exists. The price difference between the S and X is significant. The S varient allows people on a budget to play and have fun. I think it's impressive what it packs in such a small box and it's good stuff for people gaming on a 1080p screen. I think Microsoft catering to that budget segment was a good thing for a ton of people

The storage is one of the biggest issues i have with the Series S as by the time you upgrade that with the 512gb M.2 which is ridiculously priced at £118.59 you are only £81.42 off the price of the Series X which is a much better console. Edit: it seems they've dropped the price of the Series S to £199.99 which you can't complain about at that price, that's insane value for money. At this lower price you're now £130.43 off the price of the Series X once you upgrade the storage with a 512gb M.2.

I just bought an S today. It's the first xbox I've bought since the OG. I bought it mostly to play old 360 / xbox one games via gamepass and digital download. So I think saving the $250 was the right move. Here's hoping I don't regret it. ( I also have a PS5 and switch. )

I would also add that it also matters which two check marks you have to check. As for me I never ever owned a console, i only used to game on PC, but since I became a dad 3 years ago I got a full time job fresh out of university and lost my gaming time. Hence my already then outdated pc is even more outdated now and it simply is not able to play newer games. But back to the point. I am planning on buying a console now, that my daughter can go to sleep by herself now, and she loves sleeping over at her grandparents' house from time to time, on holydays, some weekends etc. So now I have a few hours a week especially on weekend afternoons. I do own a 50 inch 4k hdr tv, and I would like to game from time to time. Now for those few hours a week/month I believe that the series S could be the perfect fit for me. I am a petrolhead and I love fiddling around with cars on forza, so that would probably be my main game. I do not feel any urge to play on a switch as Nintendo games simply do not do it for me. The PS5 is literally never available in my country and it costs way too much for the three exclusives that I am interested in it is not an option. About 300usd for a series s, about 550 for a series x and around 700 for a ps5 is just insane for the money that we make around here. CONCLUSION: I believe that i would probably be fine with the small storage since I would only have like 2 games installed on the console anyway. I do not own any physical games, and I only plan on subscrubing to game pass. HENCE I believe that spending over 500usd for the series X would be kinda over the top for a user like me, even though I own a relatively nice TV. With little time to game, and no connection to any platform it might be the right choice. Thanks for reading this long mess of a comment.

I already thought of all these reasons because they mostly apply to me (especially the lack of disk drive), but the video was still helpful. I'm a casual gamer now and don't have a ton of money or time to spend, so the S seemed like the best way to go as the only system I'd own. I considered snagging one all month! Yet hearing someone else confirm my misgivings about it changed my mind. Especially the end - if you're gonna constantly watch videos about, think about it and second guess it, just buy the better console!

I'll be honest, I bought my Series S back in February when it seemed like the chip shortage was going to drag on forever and used it in tandem with my OG 500GB Xbox One (that I bought in early 2016) for disc-based games. Then a Series X made itself available at retail in June and I grabbed it. Now my Xbox One is fully retired and I have moved my Series S into the spare room where I have it hooked up to my 27" 1080p PC monitor. I only usually subscribe to Game Pass for two or three months a year but have 40+ games purchased digitally. The Series S is perfect for what I want it for. In general, the Series S is definitely NOT "trash" as the elitists like to say. It's a great performing console.

I bought the series s as my first ever xbox... I have a ps5. But yeah I got the best of both worlds. I did consider an X as I miss the 4k but it isn't worth an upgrade just for that. Am honestly just so happy to have played all the halo games and forza 🤘🏻

Bonus tip is ok, but I haven't bought a game on disc since the 360 days. I don't see the point in owning a disc for something you have to download anyway. There are tons of sales if you pay attention to them.

Loved the video however you could have even more questions to ask yourself. I mean moneys no problem for myself considering I don't always have alot of time to game but the offers on the s was too good to turn down. £189 in the UK for somone who wants better performance than last gen is great. It's a shame that games dont really take advantage of the series x.

the worst thing about having no disc drive is the fact that you are tied to a single source to buy your games. often games in the xb-store are overpriced af and you always have to bite the sour apple while normal stores sell the same game for 50% less (in extreme cases).

So far I’m absolutely loving mine, currently going back and playing a lot of the 360 games I missed like Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 and Lost Odyssey among many more. Definitely a purchase I do not regret.

I have had the series S for almost 2 years now, and I couldn’t be happier. My only worry that the console won’t be able to keep up with games in terms of performance by the end of this consoles generation, in 4 or 6 years the series s might not be playable. But by then I would have upgraded, either to series X or what ever iteration of series X in the next generation of consoles.

All great points... I am enjoying the S. It has been a great way to get into next Gen for a good price and get into X box gaming for the first time. I would of easily gotten the PS5 digital if it were easier to get one so Microsoft made a good move with this option. Now that the series X is more available I am considering it like you said in the last couple of points BUT the mid Gen versions will be coming out likely in a couple years and I really want to be patient for that cause I know I'll want it and the S can be my secondary console.

I’ve watched the S hooked up side-by-side on a nice OLED TV with the X next to it plugged into the same OLED TV. You could not tell the difference unless you looked super close. You have to love the deals you can get on the S right now along with the fact that games that are being put out right now are not fully utilizing the power of the X and the OLED TVs. This makes it an easy choice for the S…. And then down the line a little bit get yourself a PlayStation five so you have both new consuls.

This is everything I need for when I’m out on the road. I’ll eventually get the series x for the house.

I got the Series X instead of the S primarily for the disc drive, being able to catch up on Xbox One games since I skipped the last gen is quite the blessing. Also being able to play 4K blu ray movies is an extra perk.

The only problem with the Series S is the storage size. They should’ve been 1TB out the gate at the same price point & the Series X should’ve been 2TB for $599

I’ve been trying to decide if I should upgrade my switch lite to the OLED, or try something new and get an Xbox. I love Nintendo and it’s like all I play. I had a ps3 at one point and also considered a ps4 since they are re-making a lot lately. I landed on buying both consoles used and selling my lite. I’m very excited about this purchase decision. I’m hoping it all goes over well in the end! I think I’ll use both of the consoles a lot and enjoy the thought of all my Nintendo exclusives being on a screen that also supports my Xbox!

The media thing is an non-issue nowadays, sure a few years back it was an argument, but it doesn't matter if you stream a streaming service from a series s, series x or ps5 doesn't make a difference.

I had the series S for over a year now and I'm still having fun with it. I also have the series X for half that time.... The X is a better choice for a home console but if you have most of your games digital the S is great as a secondary console for when taking to a family or friends house especially if you have a travel case. In my opinion both console lack storage space, you can purchase the SeaGate 1 or 2 Terabyte expansion card but it is costly. You can still use your old hard drives but only for Xbox One or lower games. The visual quality is lower on the series S but you really can't tell unless you are using an older TV.

I would buy this as like a secondary console to add to my collection of multiple consoles just for games that I wouldn’t want filling up my ps5 storage or specifically Xbox exclusive games

I own a Series X, but I have to speak to the bonus tip: There are a lot of free games that do not require Xbox Live Gold/Game Pass to enjoy and they will run much better on the Series S than an older Xbox One/S/X. I'm talking about titles like Apex Legends, Fortnite, Roblox, Overwatch 2, Destiny 2, Rocket League, Warzone 2, Warframe, Halo Infinite Multiplayer, PUBG, Dauntless, Enlisted, Path of Exile, Rec Room, Trove, Phantasy Star Online 2, and a lot of others.

The storage issue with the SSD isn't really much of a problem you can get a 2TB game drive for the Xbox Series S/X for £88/$108/€102 which if you have the Series S or getting the Series S it's cheaper than getting an Xbox Series X so if you only care about storage then you should probably get the Xbox Series S and the 2TB gamedrive

I’m just coming back into playing games. Last console was a 360 and a tv that has a dump trunk. So this is perfect for me. As a single dad I only play 4 games top and that just what I like. My son is only 6 so this is also a good starter pack for him. Not into online much because I don’t sit at home all day or all night and play.

At the moment I'm still saving money for the Series S, and next week I can finally buy it. I don't want to buy Series X even if I can afford it, because in my case I have a gaming laptop that is quite powerful for these days and a very good setup for it, so I don't really need a very sophisticated console . It seems to me that Series S is really a powerhouse for its price and the only minus is its storage, but if you have a good PC or a good gaming laptop, just like in my case, this console will be more than perfect for you. And let's not forget the fact that Series S can upscale to 4K if you have a good TV. At least for me it can easily upscale to 4K because of the TV. And for those who ask why I need a console when I have a gaming setup, it's simply a personal preference, I love to play in front of a big TV with pretty good graphics at a good frame rate. So here it's strictly up to you, if you only use the console, think about buying a Series X or a PS5, if you also have a gaming PC/Laptop, you can do the same thing as me, it's much better and you save more money that you can use for accessories for the console such as (charging station, new controller, thumbstick grips, etc.) or new games or a gamepass. The storage thing can be worked around by buying a fast external SSD. You can offload games and reinstall them in a few minutes compared to hours spent redownloading games. It makes the whole issue a minor inconvenience at worst.

40's Dad here, starting a new job soon where I will have a very limited time to play and have gampass ultimate for the next few years, so I might end up with one. I split my current game time between switch 1st party titles and a Steam Deck. I have a gaming PC but don't really want to sit and game at it or spend game time tweaking settings and running bench marks, I have 3-4 different RTX cards in the last year and never use them. I still have a One S for my younger kid, who only plays Minecraft/Roblox, so I still can play physical discs.

I recently got some money and was looking to upgrade from my 2015 Xbox one. I have a collection of both digital and physical games but in the end the X is harder to find so I got a good deal on the S, but I haven't decided if I want to keep it or not, I don't have a nice Tv but when you upgrade you should be getting something that improves on what you previously had so losing a disc drive is a massive loss for me but I do like the size of the S. This video pretty much confirms that the Series S is the right option for me. 1) It's not my only console. I also have an Xbox One and a Switch. 2) The included storage is pretty pathetic in this day and age, but I don't do enough gaming for it to be a major issue. I'd probably have Forza Horizon 5 installed in perpetuity while cycling through a few indie games and one more occasional AAA title. 3) I moved away from physical games a long time ago. The only physical Xbox One game I still have is the Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy XV. I have a pretty big library of digital games, however, and the Series S would be perfect for those. 4) I haven't made the upgrade to 4K and don't plan to do so anytime soon. The Series S is all I need for my 1080p television. 5) I've also moved away from DVD and Blu-ray for the most part. I still have some older stuff on DVD and Blu-ray, but almost all of my movie and series purchases in the last few years have been digital. I have a huge digital library of movies and series on Microsoft Movies & TV (which is obviously perfectly suited for streaming via the Series S). 6) The resolution issue doesn't bother me since I game on a 1080p television. A frame rate of 30 fps is fine for me too. Graphical fidelity has taken a bit of a hit in certain titles, but I think that's going to change once new development tools like Unreal Engine 5 start to be utilized more regularly.

Ive got one good reason to buy that console at launch: I didnt receive my ps5 and series x so i got that one to play the new games like cod with 120 fps. It was a good time with that console, if ur not rich or theres no option to buy a series x or ps5 u should get one if u dont wanna wait and wanna play one or two new games. But the grafics isnt that good on tv if ur playing on a monitor it looks pretty good 😄

There's nothing wrong with my Xbox Series S. I got it for Christmas, and I bought a dust cover so I don't have to worry about cleaning it. The only thing people should worry about is finding new ways to put more storage on the Xbox Series S since gamers would try to play 9 or 10 games at a time with the quick resume feature.

I love my new series S. I have a ps5 and a top notch gaming pc featuring a 6900xt and Ryzen 5800x3d. Mind you gamepass sold me on the series S, because my PC is like a heater and well during summer it gets uncomfortable.

Found ur vid as I'm pretty much planning on getting the holiday xbox series s ($240). I havent been in a hurry to the next gen as i think ssds price points are just not there yet. They (sony & micro) should have really tried to split the needle with reg hds n ssds. There are many many many games 3 yrs into the gen that doesnt make use of the ssd at all, its basically just a fast ssd that no one's taking advantage yet n i know some will be like its cause of the last gen but i highly doubt it. The main reason i decided to get it is basically inflation as i see price hikes in the near future which has already happend in multiple regions of the world so I'll pick it up as a discount now n play around with it a lil n in a year or two could probably sell it for what i bought it for so why not.

I've been a mac/ipad user for 10yrs so my gaming was basically the odd angry birds / candy crush. That was until last year december 2022, when a friend (who has a high end pc and a ps5) recommended series s + gamepass to me. I liked the idea and I told my wife about it. So she bought me a series s for xmas last year. This budget little concole has been perfect for introducing me to console gaming and ive loved every moment of it! That same friend also introduced me to beat sabre, I immediately went out and bought a meta quest 2 just so I could play it, have loved that as well but not as much as my little series s.

I bought mine solely to play GTA online Enhanced (and any other games which don’t have cross play), as I’ve already got a powerful gaming PC. So for the $240 I spent. I’m quite happy. I also have game pass and want to use it as a steaming box as well, because of its favorable form factor

I already have a Series X in my gaming room upstairs and thats where I "Serious" game. I purchased a Series S for my downstairs rec room. This is where I play while hanging out with kid/dog. I was using an OG Xbox One there and that thing NEEDED an upgrade. It was taking me 10mins to load games like Apex/Halo. And when those games did load up, they were slow and choppy. Series S was a FANTASTIC upgrade to OG Xbox one. Now my games load WAYY faster and framerates are fantastic (compared to OG Xbox One). Super happy with it

I’ve had the Xbox one since 2014. Mainly play sims 4 with loads of packs. Been really slow while playing sims so series s is really ideal for me as it’s still a big upgrade from the one

I just connected a USB SSD to my PS5. I have to wait 20+ minutes for the transfer (250GB), and I can't do anything else. On my Series S, I've transferred the same amount over two drivers (1 SSD, other a standard 2GB Seagate), and was still able to stream and play games.

PC only user here (so far), no consoles, no physical games, no BluRay media, only 1080p monitors and TVs, and the storage problem looks like it's going to be solved in the new version of the S. On the other hand, I don't have time to play often, so even the Game Pass might not always make sense to me, and I don't think all the games I want to play are available on GP... When I think about it, maybe the best option for me, at least for now, is to upgrade my current GTX1060 with a used graphics card and keep going on it...

The series s is an amazing secondary council for someone who travels or has A1080P TV or A 1440P monitor and has no plans on getting a mid tier to top tier HDMI 2.1 TV. If you have not purchased a new xbox of PS5 yet I recommend getting a $300 1440P monitor or A HDMI 2.1 TV 1st in my opinion it is pointless

i only bought s for warzone.i see the ai upscaling they do in fc5 which i could still enjoy at 60 fps,but id rather play the demanding games and see they without lower res etc.but it reads my movies on hdd with kodi is a plus. it is worth 250$ for other things it does aside game🤷🏼

the points here is just depending on how much you wanted to spend on your console because i have a pc so it wasnt neccesary to get a ps5 or series x and when i bought my series s it was an amazing purchase.

The reason about the storage is a big one, if your gonna have to expand the storage anyway your getting close to the cost of the series x which you could have just bought and it has more storage on top of being way more powerful. Pretty much anyone that plays games on a semi regular basis is gonna need more space than the series s has, sure you can delete games and download others, but doing that all the time is pain in the ass.

Bought the series S for 150 off marketplace to kill time. I have a 4k 75 inch TV and honestly, my PS4 looked just as good if not better then the series S. Decided it wasn't worth it, plus I really like disc games. Flipped the Series S for 200 and put it towards the Series X, which cost me 425 off of Marketplace. Definitely worth spending the extra money with all the upgrades included, graphical difference is huge.
