There used to be a good Doc on this, speaking to people involved, but I cannot find it online ATM it was called, "stranger than fiction - real flying saucers" maybe I should upload it, here .. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ftGolalzmJnHmWg.html

Since the small VTOL Ion Propelled Vehicle shown above just adds electrons to a very small percentage of ambient O2 molecules, or optionally small amounts of onboard propellant, it is actually many times more efficient than Xenon thrusters, that have to positively ionize the Xenon with a higher current high voltage.

What Is Islam? Islam is not just another religion. It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him

God has said in the Quran: { O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous - ( 2:21 ) [He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]. ( 2:22 ) And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful. ( 2:23 ) But if you do not - and you will never be able to - then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.( 2:24 ) And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. ( 2:25 ) Quran

I tried making one in the mid/late 1960's using a flyback transformer from a television set and a balsa wood frame to hold the wires when I was a teenager. The problem I had at the time was there was no way to rectify the high voltage. So there was no directional control of the ion flow.

Before you state that this was the first successful flight of an ion propelled aircraft, I suggest that you look in the August 1964 issue of Popular Mechanics Magazine. On page 58 is the article entitled Major de Seversky's Ion-Propelled Aircraft. Photographs in that article clearly show his prototype "flying." On the cover of that magazine issue is an artists depiction of a manned Ion-Propelled aircraft.
@KraussEMUS1
@KraussEMUS1 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Willian, Seversky always wanted to fly with an onboard power supply, but it took a several hundred pound external supply for him to fly his devices. The Self Contained Ion Powered Aircraft has lots of differences that allow it to lift itself with onboard power, and produce orders of magnitude more lift per weight.

@KraussEMUS1 3 жыл бұрын
It's held down with 6 non-conductive threads. If you visit my channel devoted to it, there are a couple dozen videos of it, a website, detailed description, and so on.
@KraussEMUS1
@KraussEMUS1 3 жыл бұрын
It has a small circuit onboard, that produces a very high voltage but at a very low current, so it really isn't much power overall. It's a bit like when you rub your feet on a carpet and then touch a doorknob and then see a spark. A field of that type of electricity builds up around a tremendously thin emitter wire, and then is pulled down to the very lightweight collector surface below. The process creates an airflow downwards. The craft can also carry small propellant tanks for use in a vacuum.

@@darrinbunston5932 Hi Darrin, Sure, if you visit my KZfaq channel and website and read what I have posted, you could do it. It does take all out determination and devotion though, and it's not really cheap. Sometimes when there is a power loss for instance, it can take weeks or months to find and fix it. It takes a large mass of information to get it working. Anyway, good luck. It's not hard to get a significant amount of lift, its just reaching and maintaining over 100% that seems considerably more challenging.

It’s easy to discount a design’s potential when the needs in certain applications are sufficiently foreign to the designer. For example, in a situation such as the visual exploration of an environment that won’t tolerate a strong downdraft or a lot of noise, but needs a reasonable payload capacity and flight duration, but not particularly needing a high speed or a super compact area of operation, a design that uses the payload augmentation of lighter-than-air technology, or even requires (or can tolerate) an attached tether, may be the most effective design for some types of fairly exotic missions, but would be absolute deal-breakers in most other and more common mission profiles. This isn’t a field that welcomes tunnel-vision, and exposure of new designs must be actively promoted across the widest range of potential end-users as possible.

He proved all this could work in the 60's in the U.S. but no programs were ever built around it. He told me this tech could get a fully loaded passenger plane off the ground at 65 mph yet push Mach 1 with little drag penalty. Pretty sad that America let's great innovations and their private, military and economic advantages go to other countries.
