"most complex boat prop drive" is just an overly simplified version of a helicopter coaxial rotor hub lmao i'm crying. _this post was made by the aerospace engineering gang_

Nobody is recycling gas and oil however batteries are completely recycleable eventually ending using newly mined elements.

What is its thermal efficiency I would be surprised if it much more than20% while EVs are 85% efficient. This doesn’t come close.

I remember those slides, and I can confirm, the wavy slide was way faster than the regular slide. The things you can do to amaze scientists by stuff you can find at a playground. It's quite wonderful, really.

It's not that they thought there would be bearing and seal problems. It's that existing engine manufacturers saw it as an unwanted competitor.

So it's basically a 2 cylinder opposed engine, but the "cylinders" are bent. I'll take a Wankel rotary. Proven design and commercially available aircraft engines are about 100 pounds (with all ancillary components--intakes, exhaust, oil, etc.) and 100 hp. Whatever juice this had wasn't worth the squeeze.

Inherent seal problems? The only problem on that thing is the tolerances. Get the tolerances and materials right and it could work.

My intuition told me its the right one that would go faster. Its literally steeper with the curvy slope despite the curves. Steep is steep. Thats just gravity

If all the nay Sayers below had there way we probably still be dealing with propellor driven planes. Just the notion of AI designing an 800 HP motor that weight 90 pounds is astonishing. There are hundreds of thousands of products that were developed over a period of time after concept.
