I'm always being compared to my older sister. My mother always says things like "Your sister ALWAYS got A's, while you only gets C's." or "Your sister draws better than you" (My profile picture is one of her drawings she made for me) I could be happier if my mother didn't do this to me ALL THE TIME. I don't blame my sister, i love her by the way, and I understand that it's my mother's fault, since my sister didn't choose to be the first. Something you should add to middle child: Gets caught in the middle (oops just made a bad joke) of events that they didnt cause in any way. The middle child also gets scholded at by their parents.

Only child. I lived a rather spoiled which is somewhat rewarding, but not great in the long run, and sheltered, which was frustrating.

First sibling: Gets complimented and be prideful. Middle child(me): Gets compared to two siblings and gets insulted ( •-• ) Youngest sibling: Gets complimented and gets to be the trusted one. (secretly blames me for something I didn't do) Only Child: Gets all the happiness but can be either independent or dependent on how they grow. Actually first born who have more than 2 or 3 siblings are people who are serious when it come to things.They are caring and basically they shoo off other younger ones if they do things wrong in wrong way.They are more matured or become matured compared to their peers due to the responsibilities and there experiences.They are more patient too.

Ok, i have not watched the video yet so don't flame me if I'm completely off. I am a first-born and honestly I really like taking charge, and i think that's because first-borns are more independent and a take charge person because when another sibling is born, the parents give more attention to the baby than you. Also, there's a likely chance that the older sibling had to take care of the younger sibling at some point, giving the older sibling a sense of domination. Last-borns, i think, are more used to following directions and going with the flow, since their older sibling has probably told them what to do many times. i think middle children can see the world more clearly and honestly than others because they have both a sense of dominance and listening. I think middle children are the best kind of people when they grow up because they're very down to earth. pls dont flame i haven't watched the video yet this was just on my mind when i saw this topic

i'm the first born and got the worst grades and the middle child for higher and then the youngest got the highest and i think that's more like realistic because our parents learnt how to help us through each child and because i was first they would have known the least.

I felt kind of bad for the middle children because the narrator did say they were only gonna focus on the positive aspects but what was mentioned about middle children didn't really seem super positive. Some people say that middle children get ignored the most and forgotten sometimes... I wonder if that is true in most cases and if that is what makes them less ambitious as the survey described. My brother is on the middle , for some reasons im really proud and encourage him drawing and sculpting while others well they say good things but a little encouragement . I will hear my mom says like " Youre drawing again " or " Youre sculpting again thats what you do every day" . Mostly my brother will show me first his masterpieaces before to others .

Haha there are six kids in our family and this isn't true for any of us....

Being an only child can be great, cause you dont have someone to constantly be in your way or annoy you at home (no siblings). The downside is that you dont really learn any social skills or at least have less. It can also make your parents more anxious, and if they were caucious before, they will become the worst Helikopter parent duo you could ever think of. I grew up having my parents do everything for me and being given stuff all the time, but i never learned how to do things on my own and became an anxious mess. Now that im an adult they suddenly switched to "you have to do it all alone" and left me in the dark. Youre totally dependent on your parents all the time and there is no one to be there for you or take your side in a fight because your parents have to stick together against the horrible person they created. Im happy I didnt have to deal with siblings, but know that as an only child youll be on youre one, once youre an adult and when you fight with your parents and youll have a much harder time dealing with the harsh world out there.

Lol, the first born child in my family is my brother. He is really autistic, he can't even speak, and he is 16. I still love him, with all my heart! Failure was not an option for me, and yes, a "B" counted as a failure. My three younger brothers? So long as they passed, they were fine.

Uhh, when was the Chinese study on only children done? And who funded it? Because, you know it could have been more of a propaganda tool. But also, even if it wasn't, if they only surveyed Chinese families, then the data would be skewed. So either way there's got to be a better study on the effects of being an only child.

This was so relatable! I am the oldest child in my family. I have a little brother. I realize that I am a better leader and better at verbal skills than my brother. And I know plenty of only children, and they do seem more pampered than others. I also know a kid who's the oldest of 6, and he does seem more intelligent and more of a leader than his siblings.

As the last of five kids, I never really developed an identity of my own, always 'her brother' or 'his brother'. I was and always have been the quietest and most self conscious with nobody looking up to me, never truly knowing my purpose in life.

Ok so my family's complicated but i have 6 siblings but only one of them is not a half sibling and i grew up with mostly him because the rest were living with their father in a different state so would my older siblings still count in this or would the one I'm living with count as the oldest? I'm a first born and I do have good marks and I'm not very sociable, but I don't know if I'm a good leader. I'm a first born child and my grades are bad, when i speak people consider it back talk just because I'm defending myself with reason for things I was blamed for that I did not do. Along that I lack conference and empathy. I was push right back down when I get up, and anyone that I try to help just ignore me and I just stopped caring and I don't know how to react when people do come to me for help.
