2 years ago I decided to become the happiest woman in my town. It has made all the difference. As you have said having goals, something to do and pursuing new interests is a great way to recharge your life. In my area, things are opening up again and there are all kinds of free events like reenactments, fundraisers, organization picnics, kids sports games etc etc. The big challenge is that I think many of us have become very lazy because there was nothing to do except be home for so long. It's spring and summer the perfect time just start again

@@LittlePoet well you know Susa n, I decided that no one wants to be around a cranky, angry old woman ( or man). So I do things and go places so I have something to talk about, I do my hair and makeup and try to pick out decent outfits. Refocusing on the positive has changed my life.

Your comment,”I wasn’t born a beautiful woman”; is something most of us would say. But your spirit and your passion shine through as your beautiful face conveys your caring and gratitude for life and for inspiring others. I believe at 70, my biggest “enemy” is my inner 40 year old self. We battle in the mirror daily, since she is how I still feel in my heart. Now I have resolved to be the very best version of the 70 year old me. I will take care of my skin, eat relatively healthy, exercise and be very grateful for my health, my family and people like you. Love to Desi & thank you for sharing what many of us are feeling.

Well my day was interesting. I was watching my favorite TV show when suddenly my Internet signal went out. I promptly got on the phone and called the company who walked me through several troubleshooting methods that didn't work. Then I looked out in my driveway and noticed my cable laying in the driveway. I went outside to inspect. informed the lady on the phone and she scheduled a repair appointment for tomorrow. I then noticed that the pole coming out of my electrical box was dangling in the wind and that is what snapped the cable line. after I hung up from her I called the electric company who promptly told me that poll was my responsibility. I'm a 64 Year old widow who wanted to curl up in the closet and cry. I decided that would accomplish nothing, so I found some clamps in my garage and some 3" nails. I reattached that swaying pole back onto the side of my house. Busted my knuckle wide open in the process, The pain was awful and there was blood everywhere, but I accomplished what I was told I needed to hire an electrician to do! And how was your day? Sincerely, Still smiling 😁

I have raised my three children telling them enjoy every age in your life! If you're five and join being five if you're 15 enjoy being 15 30 enjoying being 30 so on and so forth. Sometimes it's hard to do. Because experiences in our life changes the enjoyment. However to be grateful! To be grateful for what we're blessed with it's the key, not to dwell on what we don't have, what we have lost, what we should have done, what we were unable to do, how poor we are, how unattractive we are, Etc. I've realized by renting your comments that I'm not the only one that's lost, went out unjustly, b e e n hated, Etc.. there are some most unfortunate than we are. Be grateful for what you have. And to be able to do that is in the Lord! God is the answer! Dwelling on your looks at 77 is ridiculous. Beauty Is Not skin deep! The most important thing is what's on the inside. Love, Joy, pace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, maintenance, temperance, Galatians Chapter 5 Verse 22. To be less of the world and more in God is true contentment! Youth, health, Beauty, more of this more of that a bigger appointment, a house, a nicer car, to have fun, to go on vacation, that's all material things. And they're not here to last! But the virtues at the beginning of my statement a r e true happiness. We should strive to keep them! Read your Bible everyday, pray everyday and ask God to help us be a better person than the day before! That is the key, that only God can provide! Yes I hope to take my own advice. LOL to decorate my house. I'm only planning to decorate my closet. I'm hoping to make a peaceful calm Pleasant place in my closet to meet God, through prayer and his word. To visit with him, to build a relationship, and worship. This is the key! The most important thing that anybody could ever do and their entire lifetime! Join me and creating the place to meet God everyday! God bless you.

You could not know how much you’ve helped me through your outlook. I got divorced 1 1/2 year ago. I’m just now getting back on my feet, I have been dodging cancer successfully for 13 years and my “marriage” was an ugly nightmare, my kids are absorbed in their own problems. I’m 62 and lucky to be alive-it has been an adjustment just to keep going. I’m not given to depression, and I love my job, it has been my salvation. Your videos have lifted me up on bad days. I thank you for helping me, for helping me find survival tools, slowly leading me to better days

Wow, this video resonated so much with me particularly about being the anchor. It's hard for me, at times, to accept that my anchors are gone. I sometimes find it depressing because I feel a sense of being lost and wanting the old times back with my parents, aunts & uncles who have passed. Growing up in an Italian family, we were all so close. Now, with the anchors gone, my cousins and siblings have their own nuclear families and I just long for the old times. But, I am now the anchor for my daughter and my grandsons. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful but just miss what was.

I enjoy each video. I love Eleanor… she was a brave woman. Last June after a short trip to an area in north Arkansas that I love I decided to stop waiting for “ one day” and move. Within 6 weeks I was moved. I spent several weeks purging, giving away, selling, donating and had an estate sale. I pared down to basics keeping minimum belongings. I’ve spent the months since August 2021 reflecting inward and sorting through my life. At 69 this is the first time I’ve lived alone since right after high school. It’s Freeing to have less housecleaning chores, laundry, no alarms or appointments. The spiritual growth I’ve gained is phenomenal. I’m much healthier than most my age. With my second divorce in 2013 my husband took most of the furniture. I’ve learned I can live without many pieces that were just for decoration. It’s less to maintain. Keep videos coming. You’re a beautiful person.

I stopped coloring my hair at 46, at the encouragement of my husband and kids. I have no regrets. I get so many compliments on it. I am 52 now and I love that I don’t have to worry about fitting in a hair appointment or having my silver strands popping out at the root line every 2-3 weeks. Oddly I was a medium brown color naturally and as my hair grew out I was a salt and pepper color, now I look more blonde. I love watching my natural hair color patterns over the years. My Father went from very dark brown/ almost black hair to White. I’m hoping that happens to me. Hang in there, it will be so worth it!

OMG. I feel the same as you. I am anxious all the time, since I was in my upper 50s. Now I am 62. I worry about money all the time and feel as though I am going to loose my home. I have had 3 foot surgeries in the past 16 months. I am on disability through work due to chronic pain, but coverage is going to expire soon. They terminated me. I have a very hard time standing on my foot. It is painful when I do. The surgeon said I have had alot done and my foot will never be the same. Social security disability has been filed by my work disability insurance and the government is giving me a hard time authorizing it because I am a Registered Nurse. How can I work when I cannot stand and on alot of meds for heart arrhythmia, etc.? It would not be safe for me to work with patients or even drive. I worry that someone might break into my home daily and also have an old vehicle. Most of the time I fear going outside. I was never like this and was a social butterfly. Not anymore. Reading the Bible helps, but I question it with all the horrible stuff going on. Thank you for your honesty. We are all going through so much. Us women need to stick together and lift each other spirits up.. Can you tell me the name of the book you read on Eleanor Roosevelt?

Hi Roseann! I know your pain and loss only too well. My beloved Marm passed away 6 years ago and life has been so difficult, but I am finding joy in all she taught me, the simple and profound things she taught me. I thought my life was over when she left, but God has a purpose for each of us to fulfill. He has provided a lovely couple for me to care for and pour all these passed on gifts, wisdom, and experience into their lives. It is so true, by giving of yourself, you receive purpose and blessing! May the Lord comfort and uplift you, weeping endures for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Suzanne don't allow yourself to be in darkness. Open the drapes and curtains. Pull up the window blinds and let the light into your home. I understand that the dark is inside of you when life is disappointing but turn your face to the light. "This too will end " Every day is a new beginning. Look into your mirror and see the amazing woman!!! You are a special person! Be happy ❤ Be blessed ❤

I wake up everyday proud of my life time career, surviving the traumatic times in my life. I have stopped seeing some once close friends, that were making me feel terrible about my self, you know, the fake friends that are always criticizing you and your decisions. They have all left my happy life and I feel free from negativity, believe me it was time for them to go! At our age we should be all coming into a new chapter., do new things things and get out in the world and make a Difference👍❤️👏 Remember we can’t buy more Time, go wake up tomorrow and cut the negativity from your circle, and be the Best you can be Now!

Enjoyed your affirming words today. I'm quickly approaching 59, but most days I feel much older as I struggle with chronic pain. As of late I have been trying to do the things I admire in other people, such as drawing and painting, that I had never learned before. I'm reading childhood classics that I never read as a child. Another goal is to try and get on a bike and so some short nature hikes with sketch book in hand- being gentle with myself has not decreased my pain level, so what do I have to lose?! I have told my children, "there is a season for everything," and I just realized, this is MY season!

Congratulations! I bought a bike last year thinking a little ride at the time and every day increasing. I can't even get on the thing. My legs won't raise high enough to travel. I spent more money to get a lower bike smaller tires so I can get on. I gave up for a while. With this encouragement. But now I thought I'm not going to let myself be defeated. If there's a will there's a way! LOL so I purchased these little floor bikes. Thinking if I exercise on that I went build up my muscles to ride my real bike. So there I am. LOL I want to read childhood Classics that I've never read. A wonderful thought. I just rather listen to him then read them. LOL I could listen to him while I ride. Of course I like the wind in my face nature around me and the birds singing. Maybe I can do all of it you never know. God bless you and good luck. Enjoy your books enjoy your ride.

An illness has me picking out a wheelchair at 59. But for all the things I can't physically do, I can still dream, and plan adventures. Even if the adventures are at home. I can still exercise my vocal chords (I love that!!). Dang it, I may just buy myself a karaoke machine, and drive my family crazy. 😂 I can still be the touchstone for my children, and be an encourager to my friends. I loved this video, Susan. Join me and making a secret place to meet God. A special place everyday to visit with the Lord to read your Bible and to worship Him. To be thankful he said and with praise when you enter into his presence. That's the key and the answer for all things needed. He is all in all! I'm trying to decide what color to paint the inside of my closet. I think perhaps a pale blue it would remind me of the sky. And a fresh and calm feeling. I thought maybe I put a scented candle and of course a comfortable sitting. Maybe soft beautiful music as I read my Bible and pray. There you could sing to God! What a wonderful thought. God bless you.

Susan, thank you so much. I am realizing the things I have hidden from myself. Grief, yes! I love your idea of making a list of things we want, I am going to do tomorrow. (It is 11PM now, so I think I will get a good nights sleep first). You have given me more than you realize tonight. I want more out of my life. I am 78, and only problem is my arthritis in my knees and back. HOWEVER, there are many things I still want to do and becoming more vocal is one of them! I will begin by walking (I can do it) out in my back yard and singing. Yes, my sons will think I am nuts, but, hey they need something to think about, right? I don't have an old ladies voice, but it sure can be better! I am a widow, and my three sons (all grown and single) share a big old house in Ohio. I lost two of my best friends this year and that is really grief. I miss my husband but he died at 48, so I think the deep grief of him is pretty much gone. Memories are there but, I am ready to make new ones. Thank you dear friend, you have given me so much tonight. You give out so much more than I think you realize. Cyndi, I live in Wisconsin and am on a waiting list for a senior housing complex that has Section 42 guidelines controlled by the government. It’s the cheapest I’ve found in my area, with free heat, underground parking, one and two bedroom units. I’m 70, and have a part time job, don’t feel I’m ready for senior housing, but tired of shoveling my car out in the Wisconsin winters for one thing! So, check out if you have section 42 housing in your area and see if that’ll work for you. Wishing you the best.

You are so correct, the energy I think I need is really a silent call asking for purpose and happiness. I never had really thought of it that way. The biggest lightbulb moment for me was what you said about having goals! I’m 62 and I have no real goals or a sense of purpose, I’m just drifting along waiting for…what??? You gave me a good kick in the pants today to really think about what I want and to start creating goals. You make me realize that I still have a lot of life left in me. Another insightful and lovely video. I’m a little younger than you at 51 but gosh I feel old when I look at my reflection and how I feel inside. I know it’s because I am currently on IV chemo for stage 4 breast cancer (BRCA2) it’s my 3rd diagnosis since the 1st in 2012. There is definitely a ‘me’ before cancer and a very different ‘me’ now. I morn the loss of the old me, the fit healthy body, the inner joy. But I am trying really hard to enjoy every day. You’re so right about grieving too. I miss my grandparents so much (they raised me) especially with what I am currently going through, but your words, “we carry them with us” is so true, and I needed to hear that, to be reminded of that. I also needed to hear what you said about goals. I have been too scared to really think about any goals past this year. I’ve been worrying over whether my treatment will be sufficiently successful enough for me to really resume a relatively active life. Your words have really given me encouragement and I know once I set my mind on something, and I have a focus or goal I will feel so much happier and determined to follow through. I always watch your videos and feel uplifted, happier and learn something. I think you are a beautiful woman, you’re beauty shines out of you and I am thankful that you continue to share with us. You help me more than you know, and I know I am not alone in this. Bless you and I hope Desi makes a quick recovery too. Until next time. 💕🐶

My husband left me when I was 60. I too lost my big house and my financial support. I am now 63 and living in my very own peaceful fixer-upper. But I have stopped taking care of myself. This video was a Kickstart for me!!! Thank you. I'm starting my healthy life make over now😊

Just saw a picture of Barbra Streisand for her 80th birthday and I could not recognise her! What a big mistake! I am 72, do the best with what I have got and what I am. All these procedures that women are doing in the search of eternal youth will never make them happier because there is no end to this. Thank you Susan for being yourself and yes you are a pretty woman!

I always figured that I would be a late bloomer because, I was a stay at home Mom and did not pursue my own career....but when the shit hit the fan I did have to start my life over, get a job, went to grad school and now I'm looking for that new career to finally feel like I am a part of something I can be proud of. You are right about grieving, I miss so many things, my house, my parents, my dog, but starting new things and having my bucket list if things that I still want to do is what keeps me motivated!! Thank you for always being spot on with knowing just how we all are feeling and articulating it so well. I look forward to Saturday night to watch your video before bed. Thank you Susan and your darling doggie, Desi. I am glad you are both feeling better.

I love all your videos, but this one especially hit home for me. Turning 62 in June and retiring next month, moving to a new home, I have started to look at all the things I want to do. All the things I didn’t make time for. There’s a new sunrise coming in my life and I’m excited! ❤️

Once again you have found the answer. We find our new identity, I followed your lead and found I love decorating my home. Out with the old life in with the new. You can find fabulous pieces at Goodwill. After I get done decorating I want to learn how to play the piano. 30 minutes a day. Keep on living, learning to love life again.

I have reached the ripe age of 74 and am not stressing about numbers, looks or what I wear or how I should get the latest haircut, etc. I’ve never had anything done to my face and don’t intend to. I’m not knocking anyone who does but for me, as far as I’m concerned , what you see is what you get! This face has gotten me through my journey in life with all of it’s joy, and sadness. The best beauty solution is to do the best you can, do good for others, wear a smile, laugh a lot and embrace the moment you’re in.

Susan that song" The dance' is a country song, over 20 years old... It has special meaning because it came out when I broke up with my last love ❤ it's so very true...if you'd have known how the story would end, you may not have taken the chance....and you'd have missed the most beautiful dance ❤

I had a hysterectomy at age 46. I took hormones for about 3 years. I stopped taking them and became mindful of my diet….my female physician shared about foods with preservatives that trigger hormones and flashes. It meant giving up chips and colas. Over time I added colas with very limited use. Many foods have become “ treats or travel foods”. When I travel and eat those foods I don’t feel guilty. I don’t bring those foods into my house. Exercise is important. As a former voice student I sing everyday. Singing is also good lung therapy.

Thank you for another great video. So much truth. My plan is to age gracefully. I’m 60, no interest in spending money on any kind of enhancements. I retired early, last year, live alone and the one thing I’m focused on is losing weight for my health. Not an easy goal, but I’m not giving up. I’m still adjusting to being retired, which is not as easy as I thought it would be. It’s amazing how easy it is to fall into a funk if you’re not careful. God is good and has put some really great people in my path since I retired. I’m excited to see what new things surface. God bless.

I love this video, I can relate to the doctor, my old doctor just didn’t listen and just acted like every problem was caused by my age, I also found a new woman doctor that is amazing and even though she is not on my insurance plan I rather pay a higher copay and keep her as my doctor. I hope that you and Dezi have an amazing week💜💜

I can very relate to these doctors! They don't listen to you I believe all they got on their mind at their payday! It's sad to say I wrote a list of all my symptoms. Even the not in my back. All he told me that was nothing wrong with me but depression! Now the knot on my back or should I say the depression on my back it's getting larger. I do need to find a doctor that will listen and care! You know a real doctor! I'm searching in the area where I live I don't think they have one. God bless you dear. I'm glad that you found help

I had doctors that were bad on the menapause front, pretty much had to diagnose myself. I still read my patient portals and don’t agree to what they say about myself.
