Great real life review. We are thinking of putting a 2nd fan in our conversion and are tempted by the fantastic fan rather than another MaxxAir, this has helped with our research. Thank you :)

(Number 8) - If you are using the fan at night, though the screen most certainly does keep bugs out, it does not keep them from being "sliced & diced" (a yucky mess) from the fan blade, which is exposed to the outside air, and thus all the bugs. If in an area where bugs are likely to become a problem, open the lid as a vent only (leaving the vent fan off), and run a 12 volt interior fan to circulate air instead.

This is true 🙂 that’s why I mentioned putting the other fan on exhaust and leaving the one above you as a passive vent 👍🏻

I bought the reversible model w/o the rain sensor as I was going to use a rain cover. Comes in handy being able to use the fan vent while it's raining.

Yea definitely! If the rain isn’t too heavy I can use mine by just opening it a little but when the rain is heavy then I wish I had a rain cover

I want to share my review of the Fantastic Vent 3350 because my experience with the fan is anything but fantastic. I bought mine 18 months ago, as friends, who have an older model, said it was very good. However mine makes a lot of noise and pushes so little air that I can barely tell if I have it set to exhaust or blow. If I turn it up to get more airflow it becomes even noiser! The rain sensor closes the vent at night so I can only assume that it senses the night time moisture and closes even though it is NOT raining. My friend's older model seems to push more air than my newer model. I get much better & quieter airflow from my little Sirocco fan and it was only $!60 not over $600. Dometic agreed to replace the fan and the airflow improved a little but it is still very noisy AND the rain sensor closes the fan at really odd times like late afternoon. So we can't use the fan unless we manually open the cover. So in summary, I have found it an appallingly poor performing fan that is just not worth the money.

One fan above the cooker and one floor vent/hole at opposite end (pulling cooler air from beneath the van) Do you think it would work well? as you say you mainly use one fan and the vent only on the second fan.

i plan on getting a max air fan, but in the front i want a six inch round pop up exhaust fan, having a hard time finding one, but i have seen them in other peoples builds. i need the low profile pop up to be underneath my solar panels to create a cross draft.

Just installed my Maxx Air fan. It's not hooked up to my battery yet. It has twin legs to support the lid which was one if the reasons I went for it. Where are you located bro ? I'm interested to see where you park overnight in a city while you're working... Cheers

ref your fan needing a repair i used a product on my motorbike fairings a couple of years ago that is meant for repairs to dentures and is a cold cure system where you pour the powder into a v groove then pour the liquid onto it and it bonds brilliantly and you should be able to get some from a dental repair lab if you explain what you want it for i am sure they would sell you a small quantity or have have come across another product called captain tollys creeping crack cure that may be of some use although i don't have experience of using that product yet

I wish i saw this video before... I have a brand new 1200 in the box and I'm not sold on it yet.. thinking before I cut the roof and install. I think 3amps is a lot for a fan.. I've been testing .5a 5v usb fans and am impressed with how much air they move. Has anybody tried connecting a 100 watt 12 volt solar panel directly to these fans? I'm also tempted to just build a custom Cowl with Lexan that is always open.

Hey mate, so you can't get warranty on the lid breaking !! with the rain sensing ones the biggest complaint I've seen on the net is when it's raining you can't even open the vent a tiny bit to get some ventilation which would be a pain in the neck !! Thanks for the vid mate. Seeya Rob
@FreedomInMindtv
@FreedomInMindtv 5 жыл бұрын
I don’t think that would be covered under any warranty unfortunately. I have heard that the rain sensor ones have a manual crank that overrides the sensor but I could be wrong.. hope that helps, cheers mate!

Back before air conditioning houses were always built with windows and doors opposite each other to create crossflow. The fan at the front and a fan or vent at the back does the same job.
