Welcome to our 7000 Steps Walking Workout for seniors and beginners. Did you know that 7000 steps a day is considered the sweet spot for seniors to maintain good health? In 48 minutes, we'll guide you through a low-impact walking routine designed to help you reach that optimal step goal.
This low impact, easy-to-follow routine is perfect for those looking to start or maintain an active lifestyle. Follow personal trainer April on a brisk walk to 7000 steps! Whether you're a senior looking to stay active or a beginner taking your first steps towards fitness, this gentle walking workout is suitable for all fitness levels. Mom even does part of it in a chair.
We do 3 sets of 5 exercises: 60 second straight walking rounds with 40 seconds of walking with fun arm movements.

According to researchers, the optimal number of steps in a day depends on your age:
✅ Younger than 60: 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day.
✅ Older than 60: 6,000 to 8,000 steps a day.
According to Scientific American (tinyurl.com/6K8Ksteps) “The older you are, the less efficient you are with your steps. Per step, older people expend more energy.” As a result, older adults need fewer steps to achieve the same benefits.

Estimated calories burned in this workout are:
✳️ 120 lbs or 55 kgs: 183 to 198 calories
✳️ 200 lbs or 91 kgs: 318 to 345 calories
Please note that these estimates are rough calculations and don't take into account individual variations, such as fitness level, walking speed, terrain, and other factors that can affect calorie burn. Additionally, these estimates include the calories burned during the exercise itself and do not account for the calories burned at rest or through other activities throughout the day.

We love that the burgers are baked and not fried! Mom says you can decrease or delete the tabasco if you want less spiciness. Also, the recipe makes 4 burgers, but if you like thinner ones, expand it out to 6 (this is how we like it.) Also, Mom says brioche buns are her favorite. We hope you like it. Thank you for this awesome great workout! I’m not a senior, only 30 but weigh over 283 pounds, so even simple walking is a challenge for me. Every time I searched for a “beginner ” walking workout with no jumping, I ended up only doing 5 minutes which left me disappointed and frustrated with myself. I decided to do this today and managed to do the WHOLE thing at your pace! It was definitely a challenge but worth it. Thank you for making me feel capable and confident. Just did this workout for the first time....dewey? down right wet! LOL I have an apple watch too...i think i got about 4800 steps with this. Everyones stride is different though (you can set it in the health app) Also, apple uses an accelerometer to measure the steps, so a normal walk your arms are usually in the same motion all the time, but here where we are trying to get extra upper body movement sometimes are arms are actually going much slower, or maybe a better word is stiffer so the meter might not pick up all the movements :) Still close to 5K is great for me...i trying to up my avg to 7500 a day (im 62)...been in a slump and was doing maybe 3K avg, so your exercises are really helping :) Loved the nostalgic talk...remembering my charlie brown metal lunchbox and walking 1/2 mile to the bus stop with other kids on the street....no parents at all :)

Thanks! I do not know where I would be without you guys probably way north of 250. I did this wonderful video for the umpteenth time today. And I calculated my step count when I reached 7000 and it was 148.5 steps per minute so you’re right April! 150 steps will get you to 7000. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. Personal challenge met! I expected to pause midway for a brief break, but I completed this in 1 session. I didn't quite get 7k steps, but I burned 658 calories! Thanks for the great workout!

Whew! I just did this one for the first time. I generally walk outside between 3 and 4 miles. However, I have a torn peroneal tendon, so I did this workout with my brace on. I'll see in a bit if will work. I'm hoping the brace kept my ankle steady enough. I appreciate you both so much! I've been telling others about these videos.

Enjoyed this one! I used to live in Henderson, so Boulder City was very close to me. When the weather was nice, we enjoyed walking around Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston, Lake Mead, and Lake Las Vegas. Now we're in San Diego with nice weather most of the year, so we love to walk near the ocean and by some of the lagoon/estuaries.

I am 74 and discovered the wonderful yes2next series in 2/24. Its great to have so many programs to choose f from. Today i did the 7000 steps. Iam 9yrs post left hip replacement and 5yrs post right femur break near the hip. I do the walking & wts. Thank you april & aiko you are a great inspiration to me and i am sure to many others ❤

Did the 7000 steps work out today. Loved it! I started with a little over 3000, so 10,000 was my goal. Came really close. I needed 350 more steps. For me, this is a great early morning walk whenever the weather's bad. I won't have to work so hard to get my steps in for the day. Thanks!

Thank you for this wonderful video! I didn't quite make 7k, but came very close. I'm 66 and have been an athlete my whole life. Due to this, many injuries that are now rearing their ugly head! I love your videos. They're so calming even though you're working out. I did use light weights to make it a tad more challenging and I've subscribed.

Kia ora from New Zealand. What inspirational women you are. I'm a psychologist who frequently suggests that people align their activities with where they are. Now I have to do this! I've broken my wrist, (first broken bone at 62),and these workouts are so adaptable at this time. No intense pressure yet real gains. Thank you for your very reasonable approach to exercise. See you tomorrow! ❤️ Check out the Moist Spicy Turkey Burger recipe we talk about in the video (thanks AllRecipes.com!): www.allrecipes.com/recipe/232... We love that the burgers are baked and not fried! Mom says you can decrease or delete the tabasco if you want less spiciness. Also, the recipe makes 4 burgers, but if you like thinner ones, expand it out to 6 (this is how we like it.) Also, Mom says brioche buns are her favorite. We hope you like it. This one was a real challenge ! I had a knee replacement 3 months ago and need to get the strength back in my legs before I go back to work in May as I work in a supermarket ,didn't do 7000 but did 5600 but happy with that hopefully next time will be a few more ❤

I had to try this routine right away. However, given that this week I had lots of running around to do away from home, I broke this routine up into 3 parts over 3 days. I did everything much faster and harder than was demonstrated, and also followed Aiko's method: some standing, some sitting moves. Next time I plan on doing half followed by the other half the following day. 7000 steps for me is a bit much, but I do put a lot of sock into the moves. Very innovative! I am sooo enjoying you two!!! Where have you been all of my life? I'm 68 and I am able to walk inside with you and then I go outside during the day and I am no longer out of breath all the time!
