This is something you want to make sure you get absolutely everything right the first time, you don't want to find out something is not right when you have spent all the time and money rebuilding and reinstalling. awesome job to the max, thank you for showing how to do it.

A high number of the comments express concern over the presenter not pre soaking before re-assembly and a few other things. I really appreciated both videos and believe that he knows what he's doing and shows a lot of expertise. Astro van 1990 here thanks for the videos.

Im hoping he didn't pre soak just to have a clean environment for filming. Generally you want to soak your clutches so they are ready to go when you first fire it up

I used this video to help me rebuild my 700r4 last fall. I even upgraded from aluminum to steel pistons. Everything works great. The pump bolts had been stripped out previously and I had to helicoil them. I can only get 10 ft-lbs on them but they're holding fine. Thanks for you video.

Good job sir. My dad puts the 2nd gear OD band in the case with one side hanging out and slips the drum in without knocking the band out of place. Ive done it once successfully but hes got it down pat i guess he finds it easier. But its refreshing to see someone else do what im being taught so i can have multiple ways to go about things. Thanks for the video.

I rebuilt my 1991 4L60 and did some upgrades and modifications. The transmission works but there seems to be a problem. Just before the car comes to a stop, I feel the transmission engage and "pulls" the car to a stop instead of only the brakes making the car stop. Anyone have this kind of experience? Any help in solving this problem would be appreciated. Thank you.

People are intimidated by automatic transmissions, GM thought ahead and built them simple to rebuild, and comparatively cheaper than Corvette manuals including the T-56. If you take care of the common failure points like the sun shell, bands, clutches, and accumulators, you'll have a transmission that outlives the engine's piston rings. Some kits allow stacking on FIFTEEN clutches in a single clutch drum! Can't do that with a manual transmission, an aggressive clutch can easily break gear teeth!

This doesn't make any sense especially if the unit is completely disabled ! Why would you want to reinstall any used part , especially the seals ? This is how most transmission shops cut corners and tell the customer they have a fully rebuild when they only installed just what was absolutely needed just to get it out the door . Then comes the bill $$$$$ . If you want it done correctly you had better do it yourself. To many half ass parts changers in the transmission business today ! Then if something happens and it won't shift, the rebuilder says , sure bring it back and we'll take a look at it , just to get the unit back on the bench for another charge . The common excuse it " well after diagnosing your tranny we found something totally different that was damaged and we'll have to order this part ... Then another bill $$$$$ . Its a snowball effect . You caint trust anyone even if you've known the shop owner for many years . Its his half ass employees that's at fault.... Just stay the hell away from any rebuild shop and purchase a factory remanufactured unit !

@Texassince1836
@Texassince1836 3 жыл бұрын
Some used parts are completely OK to reuse. Generally you want to replace all the seals, but Planetary gearsets and drums are OK to reuse. Even some frictions are OK to reuse, like the engine brake band in a TH350, most people never use it, so it comes out looking new most of the time.
@Texassince1836
@Texassince1836 3 жыл бұрын
It would cost a couple thousand in parts alone to replace everything inside the case on this transmission with 100% new. Factory reman units only replace damaged hard parts, they do not replace everything inside the case.
