Using the John Deere 1025R to level out a front yard. The city had installed city sewer for this gentleman several months before.
Katriel is at her finest in this video. .... a complete and total windbag! You'd think we never feed her at all!
Since the trench had not settled, even through winter, we proceeded to remove the excess chocolate cake mix, and put it in his back yard. After an hour or two with the 'spork' and the tiller, we had it looking pretty good!

Tim: Great Video, It's good to see someone who isn't afraid to get after it and make something happen in this world. I do think a "Box Blade" would have worked pretty good for this application. Another interesting project. Best move for this homeowner is to put a soaker hose upside down over the trench and turn it on low for a day or so and watch the dirt sink into the ground. Then retill to grade. ; )

Interesting video, Tim! I couldn't tell when you were backdragging if you had the loader in the float position or not. A technique I sometimes use is to backdrag with the bucket tipped down, then I can forward drag in the float position if I tip the bucket all the way back. Very handy!
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 8 жыл бұрын
Good to hear from you Steve. I wasn't using the float position. I can to a better job of smoothing without the toothbar attached.. I have tried the bucket-tipped front-dragging approach. It works. Moves more material that way. I am far from an expert on final grading at this point. Not really very happy with my skils on this. However, if you notice at the end of this video, it looks really good. I was very happy with this job.

Katriel, videos are nice but manual labor is good for the soul. I say this not just because it's true but because I know your in China and can't get to me. :-) Tim, end result looks good. Bet the owner was happy. If you keep doing this kind of work you will have to get a box blade. Being as Christy is such an understanding person I know she will agree and make sure you have it by next week. :-)
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 8 жыл бұрын
Yea, I had 4-5 projects in just over a week which needed a box blade. I had the chance to play with one for a couple of projects. It was a Land Pride BB15 5 ft model. I used it to grade the parking lot at our church. Honestly, I wasn't that thrilled. It wasn't heavy enough to dig up the hard packed rock very easily even with 8 42lb weights on it. And when I was able to get it full of rock, it was more than my little tractor could handle. On the second project, the blade seemed to be "in the way" on the sides/rear of the tractor when I was doing other things. This was another 'tight quarters' project. So, I'm thinking the 48" one may be best for me. Having said that, my budget is busted right now due to the new trurck and tralier.
@mi2tn

Yah, I have a 5' BB and wish I had a 4'. Although it has never stopped my tractor but I have never filled it up either. Know what you mean on the budget deal. I just bought 4 tires for my truck that ate into our budget.

Hi Tim. Maybe you can answer a question as I've been considering this tractor. Are you able to curl and lift at the same time? Or raise and dump? If not, do you find this to be an issue?
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 8 жыл бұрын
+JK-guy after a lot of practice, I can curl and lift at the same time. However, it is not easy, and the force required varies with the load of the bucket. So, basically, no you can't curl/lift at the same time. Having said that, it doesn't really matter. This is a small tractor. You use it to accomplish the goal, not to do it the fastest. I much prefer the easy on/off of the Deere loader/mower/backhoe, so this trade-off was easy for me.

We just got one of these 1025R's. Has roughly 9 hours on it now. I agree with you Tim, I would rather get the job done over mixing priorities. It has decent GPH Pump transfer, but nowhere enough to mix up/down while tilting, and driving... It is a good machine though. I get a kick out of Katriel, like wanting to open a surf shop on Mars.. I know of a lot of people who are developing or have Developed Gluten allergies. I am believing that a GMO wheat must have gotten into the food supply. I to have had to back off the wheats Including myself. But you should look for potato flour. We have a Donut shop near me that Makes Donuts using potato flour the place is called Tato-nut in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. They are a Guilty Pleasure, And Way Better than Krispy Kreme.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 8 жыл бұрын
Don, we'll look for potato donuts. sounds interesting. I agree with you that more folks are developing gluten allergies over the past 10 years or so. However, I think it is a long leap to blame GMO wheat when it is not even available yet. There hasn't been enough grown to affect our food supply. It has only been grown on a few test fields. Instead, I would suspect some sort of changes in food processing, additives, or something like that. I'm not intending to pick a fight about it, I just hate to see something blamed without evidence. The anti-GMO thing appears to be more about politics than actual science to me.

Tim, do you have a box scraper for your machine? If yes, it could have been used to collect a good amount of material to a small stockpile. If you come across this again, might dig from the sides to remove as much dirt as possible before tilling. please keep the videos coming.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 8 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Brenneman never needed a box scraper, then had 4 jobs in a row that needed one. We'll see if that trend continues. It seemed to work well to till first. With that approach, the soil was loose, no large clods, and easy to handle.
@andrewbrenneman9592
@andrewbrenneman9592 8 жыл бұрын
A box scraper has rippers to loosely hard pack as well. And a blade on the back to push rearward. Might be an implement you may look into. I usually leave mine on the tractor to use as a counterweight. And most are quick hitch capable. Look into Woods, Land Pride or Frontier (John Deere). But look at steel thickness for weight for digging and sturdiness.
@andrewbrenneman9592
@andrewbrenneman9592 8 жыл бұрын
Woods GBC48 (285 pounds) or Land Pride BB15 series (1548 - 382 pounds w/ 5/16" sideplate thickness) would be a good fit for your machine.

+Andrew Brenneman to really push stuff we have a blade on the back of our tractor and it pushes trees and dirt but it is really good for levelling areas out
@andrewbrenneman9592
@andrewbrenneman9592 8 жыл бұрын
The only thing about a blade is that for grading it takes more trips to regather gravel or dirt from the sides to move to the center and feather out from there. And I haven't had a good luck keeping a blade from digging deeper than desired. A box scraper can dig only as deep as desired and can gather material and carry it for as long as your machine has traction. Anyone interested might want to look into ABI Innovation or Everything Attachments on KZfaq. They have tractor implements for all sizes. And they DON'T have a middleman dealer to mark up prices.

Hydraulics don't lift very high
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 8 жыл бұрын
You are correct, the 3 point hitch does not lift very high. Hard to accomplish everything in such a small package. There are always compromises. This one makes it difficult to use lots of 3 point equipment. Having said that, wow, what an amazing tractor in such a small package!

Christy's dad. He is 80 now. My dad is 84 and is still farming (in the middle of harvest right now). He drives the combine. You can see my dad in the 3320 Plowing and Disking videos. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nM2Hhph6m7uvqpc.html All 4 of our parents (Katriel's grandparents) are still in good health. We are very thankful.

Lots of other tractor videos on youtube without talk. This one was extreme, for sure. However, if you watch more of our videos, some of this will make sense. Welcome to our channel!

I will take your advice and unsubscribe to your channel and seek other TRACTOR based videos, Im a 2038R owner anyway the 1025 doesnt really compare.

+Rodger Garrett ok. I might recommend 'Tractor Mike'. Mike is a friend of mine. He is focused on more direct educational content for tractor owners. Additionally, 'Tractor Therapy' (one of our subscribers) might be suitable for you. Still a 1025r, but lots of interesting projects. X748SE has very interesting videos with some interesting attachments. Also, if this is the only TTWT video you have watched, I would recommend catching our newer videos. Our style continues to evolve as we (hopefully) get better at this. It isn't as easy as it seems to provide interesting and entertaining tractor content!
