(79) Experimental Series #6 | Owatrol Floetrol Vs Flood Floetrol | Acrylic Pour.
Happy New Year.
Hello and welcome to my fluid art channel.
I would like to welcome all my new subscribers and say thank you.
Today's video is #6 in my Experimental Series. I compared Owatrol Floetrol and Flood Floetrol to see if there is any difference.
For the bases I used Amsterdam Titanium White mixed with just water.
I used the same colours in both pours, Anthracite mixed with Iridescent Sage Green, Hot Pink (Magenta, Payne's Grey and Titanium White), Light Turquoise (Turquoise mixed with Titanium White) and Payne's Grey.
All colours were mixed on a ratio of 1:1 with the Floetrols, and water to consistency.

I would normally use my own recipe for my pours, below:
3 parts floetrol
2 parts PVA glue
1 part liquitex pouring medium
1/2 part water
I mixed my paints 1:1 with the pouring medium and added water to thin.

I think it's all dependent on where you live. I live in the US and with the link you gave the owatrol would cost me almost $100 (cost and shipping). I can get floetrol for about $20. It sucks, because I'd really like to try both the owatrol and the Australian floetrol, but I can't afford them. :( Thanks for making this video! I found it very interesting, and love both results!!!!

Thank you very much. It definitely does depend on your location. I would love some Aussie floetrol but it's just too much to ship to the UK. I didn't even know I could get the flood in the UK till I stumbled on it on Amazon. I priced up shipping some over and it was over £100. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thank you again 💕

you can make your own owatrol with products that are simply at your neighborhood hardware store/craft store: For every 1 ounce of American Flood Floetrol you use, (with a medicine dropper or a syringe), combine 3 drops (cc's) of Minwax pre-stain wood conditioner. [[example: if you have 7 ounces of floetrol, u would combine 21 drops (cc's) of the Minwax pre-stain wood conditioner.]] Make sure you are completely and thoroughly mixing these because the minwax is oily in the floetrol. After you have mixed the two, whatever your ratio of your PM to paint is, follow that. That's a cheaper solution for you to try. I don't know exactly the ingredient in the Owatrol that this mixture is replicating but there are plenty of videos on KZfaq that claim this little secret recipe, mainly with the Bloom technique. the disposable medicine droppers I purchased online are plastic, they can be reused a few times to help stretch your dollar if you are on a tight budget like myself and can't stop this addictive hobby!! and the amount of liquid they hold each is 2mL; and 2mL = 80 drops **WHERE to purchase disposable medicine droppers/syringes: amazon has 100 slip tip (no needle) for $9.99 or lock tip for $13.49

Thanks. Living in Germany, we only get Awatrol and we must learn how to manipulate it to get the same effects as Aussie Floetrol....we will eventually get there without having to use 5 or 6 different additives to boot.

There is a KZfaq teaching how to turn US Floetrol into Aussie floetrol. So simple, comes down to adding a tiny amount of polycrylic. Just do search for how to make Aussie Floetrol.

Those prices reflect purchase in Britain. Floetrol is very inexpensive in the US. Owetrol is very pricey because of shipping costs, vice versa for Floetrol heading to Europe.

Flood is the American Floetrol and Owatrol is the European one. I've done some tests and as far as I'm concerned they act the same. They are slightly different textures and consistency but the effects are the same.
